Peek: Q&A 2!
Added 2023-03-26 22:46:51 +0000 UTCTime for another Q&A! Thank you again to everyone asking questions, and remember: the best place to request stuff for a peek is on whatever the latest nudge is. Now, let's get started.
PickledTink asks about the combo attacks, and why people shout the same thing when doing one. It's a part of the skills, which are a bit wibbly-wobbly, but part of mastering a skill gives an innate knowledge of ways it can combine. There's a bit of resonance when someone uses a skill that can be combo'd into, and everyone shouting the final name of it is what sets the full power in motion.
Istyatur Elestel asks if normal people can gain more affinities via titles/classes. Yes. Everyone has an innate affinity, and then will usually gain one or two from their class. Rarely, someone may be able to advance their class and gain more affinities. Archmages are the common example, for certain values of 'common', as nobody's first class is archmage.
Navar44 asks if dungeons ever get mail. They are technically capable of receiving and reading mail, but few people bother. Most dungeons that are aware enough to understand the concept are large and powerful enough that they would generally ignore something like that.
Uh... someone with some kind of Asian name (sorry, I don't know how to read it, and I'd certainly guess which language it is wrong) asks where do elves come from. Aside from Mommy and Daddy elves loving each other very much, elves originated from various fey spawners, though they are not the only fey. Gnomes are earth fey, for example.
Nathaniel has several questions. First: Can Violet and Hullbreak communicate with each other? Not yet. They can feel the other's connection, and may be able to glean the most basic of feelings if they are intense enough, but that's all. Violet will need a Voice to be able to truly communicate. Second: can dungeons direct their expansions more than simply taking a designated plot? Yes. Older dungeons have more control over what they can expand to. Third: can dungeons influence what spawners they get? Also yes, also an option for older dungeons. Fourth: How much trade are the dwellers doing with the town? Moderate trade. The ratkin and spiderkin both have ores and hides to offer, along with occasional goods like weapons, armor, or crafts. Their supply is still limited thanks to their relativity low populations. Fifth: what to the townsfolk think makes Thedeim so different? Most of the townsfolk don't know enough about dungeons to understand hos significant his difference is. Even most of the adventurers don't realize. Sixth: How many religions? A lot. While the crystal shield is a major one in the kingdom, there are plenty of other gods. Lastly: what is life like for the dwellers? Mostly, their lives are like any other lives. They laugh, they cry, they work, they rest, they sing, they read, and so on. The ratkin are more inclined to read or tell stories when they rest, or to go listen to Larx about Thedeim. The spiderkin enjoy gossiping as they weave, talking about anything as they work their silk. They've been growing more interested in music, since Slash is not quite as secluded as he thinks he is when he practices.
Sir Real Killer asks about the various undead denizens and scions, and what they are. Spawned undead are their own thing, separate from elves, orcs, dwarves, etc. He also asks about other mythological creatures like phoenixes, gryphons, unicorns and so on. Yes, all of those exist.
Raufgar asks a few things, like if there will be an intranet between Thedeim, Violet, Hullbreak, and any potential others. While Thedeim may try to set up something like that, nothing has been achieved like that by any known dungeons. Communication is through Voices, with only basic points being able to be communicated without them. He also asks if Dungeons can make dungeons. While a strong dungeon might be able to influence the mana nearby enough to create good conditions for a dungeon to form, they cannot just decide to make a dungeon whenever or wherever they want. If Rezlar becomes a Resident, would Thedeim automatically gain Fourdock as territory? No. He also asks about what spawners make a few of the other more common races. Dwarves come from earth elemental spawners. Kobolds come from a version of a draconic spawner. Goblins and orcs come from natural spirit spawners, sometimes called primal spawners. I'll probably be doing a peek eventually about the differences between elementals, fey, beastkin, primals, and whatever other categories there are.
Meepers Jeepers asks what the scions' favorite foods are. Fluffles and Poe both enjoy rats. Queen adores Honey's honey, while Honey is happy with basically any nectar. Tiny quite liked the scythemaw. Coda has a particular fondness for pears. Teemo likes eggs in practically any style he can get. Jello, of course, loves the taste of undead. Leo likes the taste of rabbit, and often would go on expedition past the cemetery walls to catch one. Thing, Grim, Rocky, and Slash don't eat.
I think that's everyone? If I've missed your question, I might be saving it for a more in-depth peek, or it might be something that will be addressed in the main story later. Or I may have simply missed it, so go ahead and keep asking in the nudges. Thank you all for your support and your questions! I'll get a fresh nudge up momentarily for more of your questions and suggestions for more peeks!

Thanks! Just the right amount of worldbuilding that it has a unique history without becoming too technical
