Peek: A Look Beyond Fourdock

Here we have an example of why I write instead of draw, heh.  Fourdock and Thedeim are located in the Kingdom of Harlon, founded by Kind Roldow Harlon The First.  The Lindow River is named for the queen of the founding king.  It is a majority-elven kingdom, though the other races are well-represented and have the same rights and responsibilities as the elves.  It is only technically not a constitutional monarchy, as it doesn't have a constitution, but it does have a council of nobles that act as advisors and legislators, suggesting laws and policy, with the king/queen having the final say on what is actually done.  The capital is further to the south, where the Harlon River meets the ocean.

The Orc Wanderlands are so named because the orcs are nomads, and see no reason to settle down, with the exception of their capital of Rest.  Even that tends to see a whole different population with each moon as the various nomadic tribes move on.  Diplomacy is difficult, as the various chieftains are not concerned with the matters of outsiders.  The Gofnar River, Gofnar Lake, and Also-Gofnar River are so named after one of the few pieces of true diplomacy between the tribes and the other political powers.  Overchief Gofnar agreed to not wander "south of the Gofnar", which is all the nomads need.  Cartographers in the other lands (especially in Horlon Kingdom) had to adapt as they started surveying and needed to name the lake and the river that feeds it from the north.  At first, they simply named them after King Horlon, but the tribes eventually discovered this and started wandering across the river.  Small skirmishes plagued the border until the king declared the names for the bodies of water that are there today, and the orcs have been happy to stay on the northern banks.

The Beastkin Principalities are numerous factions of various beastkin, forming a loose coalition.  The specific political structure is deliberately convoluted, but boils down to a council of princes/princesses that exert vague rule over the lands.  Each prince/princess rules their particular principality, but the specific borders are constantly shifting from political maneuvering, economic buyouts, military action, or combinations of any of the three.  Despite the instability of the government as a whole, the people enjoy fairly stable lives, and potential invaders will find themselves facing off against a united front of strength and versatility.  There is no central capital for the nation, and the location of the next Conference of Princes is decided at the conclusion of current one.

The Dwarven Clansland is majority dwarf, with their lands at the foot of the mountains mostly used a farmland.  Dwarves are fond of food and drink of all kind, and have even been known to joke about the arts of cooking and brewing to simply be some of the few crafts one can eat without getting a stomachache.  They are ruled by a council of guild lords who lease their seats, the cost of which provides the budget for their decisions.

The City of Meeting is technically independent, and so is a city-state.  It is a vital trade hub, and while each of the powers would very much like to have sovereignty over the city, each power also most-certainly does not want the others to have sovereignty over it.  It is a small republic with the mayor as the chief executive, as well as a council of legislators elected from each district.

I love your work and I love this amazing world you've built. And it would be an honor if I could contribute even in a small way. I'm not the greatest at it but would it be ok if I tried to make a map based off of what you have here?

Hey! There are many free mapping tools if you wanted to check them out. I hear alot about world anvil, but that one isn't free, although I feel you would personally get a lot of use from it with all your lore and stuff :) map looks good

Bah,... I'd argue that's a pretty good map. Lots of room to grow with too. Just because it's not on the current map doesn't mean it's doesn't exist either. I also believe there is a DnD world building map maker online somewhere for DMs to use. It may even be free, seems like it was. But I'm happy with this. Thanks :-)
