Call out those sexist people! how would that be controversial? but Unfortunately it is ugh 😑 in this day and age.

That was mostly undeserved in my opinion, as the show for the most part is a harmless, fun homage to Ally McBeal with a superhero spin. I think the end of this episode was a misstep though. The show's creators anticipated there would be a toxic online conversation surrounding the show and decided to turn the show's detractors into the villains. But since they couldn’t know exactly what form criticism of the show would take, they built some straw men that they would easily be able to knock over. That’s just lazy writing. They would’ve been much better off just staying above the fray and making a good show but they couldn’t resist leaning into the controversy. I think that’s a big reason this show remains divisive, which is a shame.

2025-04-12 16:57:03 +0000 UTCCompletely agreed on The Good Place. One of my favorite shows. Its a very different show, but if you are looking to fill the Ted Lasso void of another feel good comedy that makes for good reactions, it would be a great choice.

2025-04-12 05:41:02 +0000 UTCGreat reaction! What I love about this show is the usage of so many casual low tier powered people The movies has every powered person have some sort of importance. Once you get powers you’re destined to become a hero or a villain. This show fleshes out a world where tons of powered people just casually exist. People who don’t use their powers for good but also aren’t evil or a world/city destroying threat. People like the shape shifting elf from earlier in the show, Donny Blaze, Titania, and now Mr Immortal Not exactly people with good morals but also aren’t casually killing people or trying to amass power I like it because it fleshes out the world and doesn’t make it as black and white. Realistically a lot of people would use super powers selfishly, but also not evilly. And this is very much a thing in the comics. Comics have certain tiers of heroes. Your A-listers like spider-man, the hulk. Your B and C listers But then you get your E through Z listers. Often just people with silly powers who are just funny, not much of a threat, not in many comics either Examples are stiltman, big wheel from marvel. DC has kiteman, condiment king. And since this show is a light hearted comedy they can embrace it My personally favourite character like this is from episode 8. I won’t say anything else but you’ll see
