The Hunchback Of Notre Dame

Hey everyone! Are you ready to watch The Hunchback Of Notre Dame?

As explained during my intro, I met Quasimodo at a Disney character breakfast and he became my fierce and hated rival! 😂It's been almost 30 years since meeting him and seeing this movie. So, it was definitely time to revisit it!

The animation is gorgeous, and the music is truly beautiful, with the song Out There being my favorite. I have that song stuck in my head right now! Quasimodo is so kind despite his horrifically difficult life! What a wonderfully inspiring character. His passion for life is contagious.

This film tackles some deeper themes than most Disney films I've seen. At times, it felt a bit heavy with such an intense villain. Frollo is the most horrible Disney villain I've ever seen. Do you think he's the worst? Or is there another villain you think tops him?

Overall, this was a unique and thought-provoking film that really drives home the importance of fighting against injustice and accepting yourself.

Watched on: Disney+ / Runtime: 1:37:04

Hope you enjoy! ❤️🐑

Great! =)

ANTONIO RANGEL

That was a beautiful rendition of "Hellfire"! Thanks for sharing that!

Jacqueline

Ooh, that's an interesting perspective!

Jacqueline

You're so right about most Disney villains being fun in their own way. Frollo was not fun! He was just evil!

Jacqueline

Hello Antonio!! Yes, Frollo is terrible! I do love Quasimodo now and would not be mad if he wanted me to color on his side of the place mat!

Jacqueline

Hi Jax, I agree. Forollo is one of the most evil villains Now you understand why Quasimodo wanted you to choose him back then, maybe you reminded him of the girl at the end, just kidding. I'm sorry, I don't know if my sentence doesn't make sense but it is translated from Spanish by Google =), greetings from México.

This is probably my favorite disney movie, at least one of them, its hard to choose. I just like that it is darker and more intense than most of them, and its not like it just became my favorite as an adult I remember always loving this, I just enjoy deeper and darker themes.

This is one I never got around to seeing honestly. This was my first watch and I enjoyed it more than I expected! I think being an adult helped. If I was a kid, I don't think I'd have found this as engaging. As an adult I could appreciate the art style and themes so much more! Frollo is arguably the most purely evil Disney villain ever. The other great ones do generally have some kind of fun aspect to them, but Frollo is just pure evil! Hellfire is one of the great villain songs too!

If you consider the gargoyle friends the only Disney "magical," unreal part of this film, one might consider them a psychosis of Quasimodo's.

Ít was nice to revisit this story, I read the Victor Hugo book years ago and of course the cathedral has been in the news regarding the fire and repairs. As you noted, the music was a big part of this production. If you're so inclined, check out this recent Acapella performance of "Hellfire" inspired by the film. https://youtu.be/bVbetHB815E?si=blI2gR5Un1Fp1mBj I greatly enjoyed it!.

Frollo is the worst I’ve seen. Lot of difficult themes. People in power abusing it. The people stand by because it’s on tv or outside our window and it could never be us. But it’s too late when it’s at the front door. Repentance of lust and desire in service to a higher power. Yeah, I didn’t watch this one as a kid either. One and done. Emotional reaction…don’t hold it in.
