Here is the full reaction to The Amazing Spider-Man!! We get to see another interpretation of the Spider-Man origin story, but this time it's Andrew Garfield playing the role of Peter. Also, Gwen Stacy is the love interest instead of MJ.

Honestly there are some stories where the spider DNA does take over Peter it happened in the 90’s cartoon which is still so crazy😂 he grows 2 extra arms & he goes to the X men to ask for help but he doesn’t like the advice that Charles gives him so he goes back to Dr Conner’s for help & they come up with a method but ultimately he jsut turns into a giant spider & then the Punisher gets involved trying to kill him. It’s a whole crazy mess lol

I still think just the acting from both Andrew and Emma for a couple on camera is my fav like I loved their relationship more than Tobey and Mj's only cause MJ was written like she didn't know who she wanted she left her wedding to be with Peter only to go back to Harry again then be manipulated. I do enjoy tho how MJ and Peter are in the cartoons more tho when I see there romance but Peter with Gwen or Black cat I love alot

Unfortunately, yes! But I'm still going to watch the spider-verse films.

So, I'll admit to really not liking this movie when I first saw it. I didn't like seeing another origin story for Peter, but there were some aspects I liked, like seeing how Peter puts together his suit and web shooters. Over time, I appreciate this movie a lot more. Funny enough, while I agree that Andrew Garfield is a great Spider-Man, the Spider-Man side of the story is what I'm less interested in. I love watching the character interactions. I think this cast did a great job. Director Marc Webb is very good at handling character relationships and I think he showcased that well, especially with Peter's relationships with his aunt and uncle and with Gwen and her dad. Jax, I think you will love this! When I was looking up Marc Webb so my comment made some sense, I found out that his trademark is a white lamb! He's included that image in some of the music videos he directed.

They didn't get married. They just dated

Hey Jax, would it be too late to consider adding in the 2 spider-verse movies to the spidey marathon? There’s a couple of references in No Way Home made to those movies and vice versa.

Directed by Marc Webb 😂

I think the general consensus is that Toby Maguire is the best Peter Parker, Andrew Garfield is the best Spider-Man and Tom Holland is the only one who's good at both. I really love this movie, and think they made some things in it work a lot better than the first trilogy. Like the love interest like Jax said was all over the place but made it much better in this movie. And it explained Peters parents and why they're not there...mostly

Gwen > MJ. Toby is the better Peter Parker but Andrew Garfield is the better Spider-Man. I'm also a firm believer that this is superior to the original trilogy. Yes Spider-Man comes across as a little mean spirited with this quips in this movie but he was like that at the start of his comics run too. Certain events which I won't comment on at this stage humbles him and he becomes the Spider-Man that we have today. The best part is no MJ, Gwen Stacy is so much better and played perfectly by Emma Stone. My biggest gripe with nearly everyone else is the Lizards look, I wish they kept with the original comics look. I do like that they made the Lizard as his first foe in this movie just like the way he was in the animated series. As for where I rate each Spider-Man/Peter Parker: For Spider-Man it is 1. Tom Holland 2. Andrew Garfield 3. Toby Maguire For Peter Parker it is: 1. Tom Holland 2.Toby Maguire 3. Andre Garfield I just think overall Tom Holland has portrayed both just better than the other two.

I thought my Dad was a secret agent! When I was little, I used to ask my Dad what he did for work. He said he was a government employee and he couldn't really explain it well. So little 8yo me immediately went to - Secret Agent! In reality, he works for the Department of Technology for the County of Sacramento doing IT Security haha

Reflection in the mirror: best jump scare on the channel. LOL

Minibeast

Andrew and Emma's chemistry was so great. That's probably why they got married.

Doug Watson

The sad thing about Peter is that, his story is about pain and loss. But he keeps a positive attitude.

Not a fan of this actor change. It was what it was. Not the best Spidy movie. Just My opinion. Enjoy,!

CRANES👀👍

My favorite will always be Toby as he was the Spider-Man when I was growing up. And Stan Lee is in every single marvel production, he’s even in the spider man video games.

Oof edited it there now, thanks for the correction.

I think we all know what you ment but in your second to last pargraph you put Spider-man (2002) twice when i think you ment one of them to be 2012 just a heads up :) but very good break down

The Dark Knight Trend: This movie released during the Dark Knight (2008) era, where superhero films leaned into that gritty, realistic vibe inspired by Nolan's Batman trilogy. Man of Steel (2013) was another big example of this trend, along with Fantastic Four (2015). For a street-level hero like Peter Parker, a darker, moodier tone isn’t a huge stretch, there are plenty of dark Spider-Man stories that pull it off. But it stands out a lot more when you try to apply that tone to someone like Superman or the Fantastic Four. That said, I think it works for Spider-Man, especially since his origin in Amazing Fantasy #15 had a similar grounded, moody feel. What really screams Dark Knight in this film is the visuals, like the darker, more aggressive-looking Spider-Man suit. Compare that to Spider-Man (2002), which leaned into the bright, comic book feel of the original stories. Fantastic Four (2015) is probably the worst of the bunch. It just didn’t feel like a Fantastic Four movie at all, which is a shame because the intro wasn’t bad, did a decent job adapting from Ultimate Fantastic Four. But it falls apart pretty quickly after that. Still, who knows? It might be a film you’d enjoy. You'll notice moving into "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" that it portrays a Spider-Man who embraces a more hopeful and colorful side, focusing on inspiring others rather than instilling fear. Character development from this first film which evolved him into a symbol of hope, particularly for children who admire him. Peter Parker's Parents: In the mainline continuity (Earth-616), Peter’s parents were CIA agents who later worked for Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. They had this cool ‘60s James Bond vibe, with the stories set during the Cold War. Unfortunately, they died in a plane crash, killed by the Red Skull. In the Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610), which re-imagined Marvel for the 21st century, Peter’s parents were scientists instead. They were part of a S.H.I.E.L.D. think tank trying to recreate the Super Soldier Serum, the same serum that gave us Captain America. They worked alongside Bruce Banner, who injected himself with a version of the serum, transforming into the Hulk and going on a rampage. The Parker's survived the attack. Years later, when Peter was a child, Peter’s dad and Eddie Brock Sr. worked on Project Venom, which aimed to create a symbiotic bio-suit to heal humanity. Things took a dark turn when Bolivar Trask, of Trask Industries (famous for creating the mutant-hunting Sentinels), took over Project Venom. The Parkers, along with Eddie Brock Sr. took legal action, which led to their deaths in a plane crash. The Amazing Spider-Man movies draw heavily from Ultimate Universe, a universe that aimed for a more "realistic" take on the Marvel Universe. Home to the Ultimate Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and The Ultimates (this universe's Avengers) comics. Random Thoughts: I love that they used Gwen Stacy instead of Mary Jane Watson. In the Mainline comics, Peter didn’t meet Gwen or MJ until college, with Liz Allan and Betty Brant as his first love interests, you'll recall Liz Allan from Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) as the love interest of Peter. While in the Ultimate comics, MJ was a student at Midtown High and Peter's girlfriend. Peter actually revealed he was Spider-Man to MJ in the first few comic issues not long after becoming Spider-Man. Harry and Gwen were also students at Midtown High, bringing Peter's college friends from the Mainline comics universe into his high school years. Spider-Man (2002) did this as well, though High School wasn't a big focus. Gwen works really well here, especially after three movies focused on MJ. Plus, since Andrew and Emma Stone were in a real relationship at the time, so their on-screen chemistry is amazing. Gwen is my personal favorite love interest for Peter, followed by Black Cat who we've yet to see in the movies. The Death of Captain Stacy is pulled from Amazing Spider-Man #90-94 (1970), where George Stacy dies while shielding a young child from falling debris. His death marks a pivotal moment in Spider-Man's life as Captain Stacy was kind of a Commissioner Gordon figure for Spider-Man, and at times, even a father figure. Something the film could've dived into more instead of killing him off in the first film. Something pretty unique is that both Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and Spider-Man (2002) featured Peter being bitten at 17 turning 18 years of age. While in the comics, he’s bitten at 15, spending more of his early Spider-Man days in high school. Tom Holland is the only one who was bitten at 15 years of age.

Emma Stone played Gwen Stacy perfectly! 🙌 Another Emma Stone movie I think you would love ❤️ and should react too is Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance (2014). She’s phenomenal in that movie too
