Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Full Reaction)

Hello Friends! It's my birthweek and I wanted to celebrate with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I've seen different renditions of Snow White's story before, but never Disney's animated film! As it turns out, I LOVE Snow White. She is one of the best Disney princesses and I am officially a huge fan!

FYI: I forgot to say "Three, two, one, play." I just say "Play!" I put the countdown clock at the top right to prompt you though.

Watched on: Disney+ / Runtime: 1:28:41

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Full Reaction)

What a wonderful reaction, Jax! I'm loving this channel so far. Unless you've already seen it, I'd love to see you react to Walt Disney's Cinderella. It's considered to be from the same era of Disney as Snow White, and hits a lot of the same beats, following the same formula, but I think you'd love it. The animation and music in it is gorgeous. I remember being stunned by how beautiful the animation was when I saw it as a kid. It's more...I guess you could say...life-like. Although I love this film, and the animation in it is great, I prefer the look of Cinderella. Oh, and I also recommend Sleeping Beauty, which is, again, gorgeous for its art and music, but it has a unique look that, due to a few creative choices in the appearance, make it stand out from either this, or the more life-like Cinderella. Wonderful job so far, Jax.

Thank you so much!!! ❤️

Jacqueline

Thank you so much!! Thank you so much for your recommendation! That story does sound much darker than Disney's version! It sounds like such an immersive world! ❤️

It affects the trajectory of your life. It’s certainly circular, though. Consider the famous ‘Monster’ Kody, gang banger wrote his memoir from prison. His wildly aggressive behavior and ability to stay calm while doing it earned him the nickname ‘Monster’ within his gang. I recall that once he began being called ‘Monster,’ though, then he felt he had to live up to that. In the same sort of vein, in an episode of South Park, Cartman wasn’t around for some reason. The other three boys, essentially, grabbed the next boy down the list and made him fill in for Cartman. Now, the funny part was that throughout the episode all the boys refer to Cartman’s replacement (Craig?) as ‘fat ass.’ They announce to him he’s Cartman’s replacement by saying, “Cmon, fatass, you’re with us now.” The funny part, though, is that Craig starts as the exact same size as the other three boys. They just CALL him ‘fat ass’ because that’s what they called Cartman…. Wait for it, though…. Throughout the episode the ‘new Cartman’ gets fatter and fatter throughout the episode. I can certainly picture a situation where a person was relentlessly informed and teased and judged for their size and throughout that process, their food intake/weight actually rising. I’m not saying it’s universal but the expected outcome of telling many people directly and, essentially, cruelly that their ‘too large,’ ‘too fat, whatever, is that they get larger and less healthy. It’s a very difficult problem

i think most people know this. it was also very normal in that period for adult men to marry child brides. still a practice recognized in some countries in the world today. hell, even the u.s. has a few states with 'questionable' consent ages. it isn't right, but it is accurate for the period this movie takes place in. it's also based on an older tale, right? don't know the history on that, but i'm sure that even when the story itself came out that it was just widely recognized and acceptable.

one of my favorite samwise gamgee lines is 'i ain't droppin' no eaves, sir.'

Happy Birthweek! I also have a birthday this week! On Friday I turn 34. I haven't seen this since I was a young kid and it brought back so much nostalgic feelings. Great reaction

Mister Lou

Happy birthweek. If someone sends you a "birthday apple," I suggest caution. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Even after close to a century this movie is still gorgeous to look at. For those loving that kind of art, I would suggest the Short "Walt Disney's the Old Mill (1937)" which can be found on youtube.

You do know that Snow White is like 14 years old. The Prince is like 31 years old.

Happiest of Happy Birthdays, Dearest Jax. I would have gotten you something if I knew! My family and I had the great good fortune to visit Neu Schwanstein, the castle in the Czech Republic that the Disney castle is based on. Do 30 seconds of research and look up images of it, it’s magnificent. It had a sort of elevator from the kitchen to the master bedroom where an entire table with all the food and wine could be sent straight up to diners already seated. Look for images of the bed in the King’s chamber. It’s the most magnificent wood carved bed, it’s from a whole tree as big around as a sequioa. You said you loved fairy tales but have you actually read any of them? Grimm’s? They’re absolutely horrid. Utterly not advisable to read to a small child before bed: witches that eat children, wolves that eat children and grandmothers, poison, dragons, black magic, oh my! The roofs you like were thatched and, notice, very highly peaked. You’ll see the same thing in more snow-bound regions. The slope of the roof encourages the snow to run off, the higher space inside traps heat. Warm/hot weather homes have flatter construction to hold in cool air. The area outside the house, under the roof is called the eave. If you stood outside a house, especially in the rain, the water coming off the roof is dirty and the drops would leave marks on your clothes. The droppings from the eaves marked you as someone trying to pry into private conversations. Over time the dirty water, the droppings, became synonymous with the activity of attempting to surreptitiously monitor other people’s communication.

I’d say they were definitely named AFTER their characteristics. Do you subconsciously or consciously live up to your name’s meaning or does it not matter?🤔

Happy Birthday!!! On the topic of fairtale characters, I highly recommend Fables by Bill Willingham. It's a comic book about a group of fairytale characters, including Snow White that are secretly living among us in modern day New York City. The comics are much darker though for example the dwarves kept Snow as their slave in their cottage were she was abused for 6 years, much darker than the Disney version. There's also a prequal game called 'Wolf Among Us' set during the 1980s set 20 years before the comics. Snow White is an important character in both the game and comics and is one of my favourite takes on the character. In the game we also play as Bigby Wolf known to Fables as The Big Bad Wolf from the stories like Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, The Boy Who Cried Wolf etc. Now a detective in New York who went through alot of redemption since the events of these classic stories. Bigby Wolf is also an important character from the comics as well. Wolf Among Us 2 trailer - https://youtu.be/UkXwW5H28m0
