Spider-Man: Far From Home (Full Reaction)

What can I say about Spider-Man: Far From Home? It's sad, funny, and insightful. We got to see what life is like for people after "the blip". We're grieving the loss of some of the worlds greatest defenders. I think it's fitting that this story revolves around a bunch of high school students, since the MCU is now in the hands of the next generation.

I think this cast does a beautiful job of lifting the spirits and making it feel as if life will move on. I'm LOVING this cast of characters. They brought back all of my favorite people from the previous Spider-Man film. Here's to life after the Infinity Saga. We finally made it to the ends and I can't wait to see where the MCU continues to take us!

Watched on: Google Play Movies / Runtime: 2:09:33. (I didn't realize it was available on Disney+ since it was just added. I made sure that it syncs perfectly with the Disney + version. The Disney+ version has a different runtime, but it ends up playing at virtually the same speed as Google Play.)

Spider-Man: Far From Home (Full Reaction)

Comments

Jax will you have a full length watchalong for Spider-man: No Way Home? 🤷‍♂️😊

David Olden

Everyone who disappeared in the blip: In Infinity war we saw: Bucky, T'Challa, Groot, Wanda, Falcon, Mantis, Drax, Peter Quill, Doctor Strange, Spiderman, Maria Hill & Nick Fury. In Ant Man & The Wasp we saw The Pyms In Infinity war we saw The Bartons and got confirmed Shuri, Jane Foster, Dr. Selvig Other sources: Betty Ross, Secretary Ross and Sif. In Spiderman far from home: all of Peter's friends and Aunt May, since May said so and they were all still classmates instead of them aging 5 years.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed this!

Jacqueline

Another fun reaction, Jax. 💜 Although I thought you meant when someone said something like, “War is a universal language.” Idk… maybe I’m mixing up movies. 🙏🏾

TheEbonyElephant

Hi Ed! I will keep the Scooby gang comment in mind! I love that you also appreciate Betty. Was she the daughter in The Nice Guys!? I knew she looked familiar! I saw the original SM movies a long time ago and will definitely be rewatching them. I completely forgot JK Simmons was in them!

Jacqueline

Yes! Love is such a big part of people's lives.

Jacqueline

The Quentins of the world deserve more than Mysterio!

Jacqueline

I didn't notice it until I was editing! It was such a great detail!!

Jacqueline

Totally agree with your Spider-Man comment. I mentioned the same thing under the "film franchise suggestions" comment section. Basically to the effect that No Way Home has a lot more emotional depth to it when you've watched the the prior Spidey franchises first. For me, the Mjolnir and Cap shield scene reminded me of the JLA/Avengers Marvel DC crossover from about 20 years ago that had Superman wielding both.

brent w

i thought you actually might have been the first reactor to notice jake Gyllenhaal in the background watching peter, directly after they show MJ having the birds land on her at the beginning. but its ok, it was only like half a second long. you are just so observant about everything i thought there was a chance. they usually cant get anything passed you.

RJ Dough

Hey Jax, so now they left the cliffhanger for next spiderman movie. Without spoilers, I would say that would help to get familiar with previous spiderman movies. Also in the scene where he gets and weapon and a shield, you said it reminded you his friends at the museum. For me it was like he incorporated Cap and Thor at same time.

You really need to remember calling these teens the Scooby gang when you watch the next Spider-Man movie, you'll get a big laugh at one point. Also agree on the actress who plays Betty. She's fantastic. Check out The Nice Guys, she's in that and does an amazing job. It was also written and directed by Shane Black who did Iron Man 3! Loved this movie, really love the character, been one of my favorites since I was a kid. Jake Gyllenhaal did such an amazing job and does so good at making you trust him, especially because he is on Peter's side so much when all other adults are putting crazy pressure on a teenager, so him being good to Peter makes us like him and makes that reveal hit so much bigger. I will admit to not being into Peter and MJ's romance at first because it felt so sudden, plus, I wasn't a big fan of MJ's character in the first movie, but I think the writers did a great job with them and Tom Holland and Zendaya's natural chemistry totally won me over and I was 100% invested by the end! The reveal of JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson at the end was so fantastic. Don't know if you've seen the original Spider-Man movies, but he played the same character in all 3 of those and is considered one of the best casting choices of any comic book movie character. Also important that you watch the 3 Spider-Man movies as well as both Amazing Spider-Man movies before the next MCU Spider-Man! You'll understand everything in that way better if you do!

Ed Scoglio

I really appreciate your comment that including a love story makes the overall story more well-rounded. Romance is such a vital part of story telling. Many modern movies, especially coming from Disney, seem determined to forgo romance entirely.

Cameron

Growing up with the comics/cartoons, I always hated that Mysterio was just a liar named Quentin...

Quinton Turner

You're right!! I didn't catch any of those moments. I assumed Fury was just a little touchy after having been dead for five years.

Jacqueline

Wow, The Netherlands are so beautiful! I agree that this movie was a great way to finish the Infinity Saga.

Jacqueline

Thank you Richard! These are all great questions! 1. This was a fantastic tribute and eulogy to Tony. It seems like this movie was really about honoring everything Tony built and saying goodbye to him. 2. I was thinking about the 2002 Scooby-Doo film starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. 3. When Peter didn't know AC/DC, it was such a startling moment. As much as I'm going to miss Tony, I'm so glad they aren't trying to force Peter to be just like him. He's his own person and that's great.

Jacqueline

Yes! this was the perfect post Endgame movie. It felt like a really great wrap up to the Infinity Saga.

Jacqueline

I'm so glad you liked this! I did not pick up on Fury and Hill being Skrulls until the very end! It makes sense now, but that was such a huge shock.

Jacqueline

That's awesome that they included his character at the end!

Jacqueline

Hey Kyra! I'm so glad you enjoyed this!! I was planning on continuing with phase 4 by watching everything in release date order. I just looked it up and that puts The Falcon and the Winter Soldier next after WandaVision.

Jacqueline

I forgot he was in Star Wars!!

Jacqueline

I keep hearing that it would be helpful to do that. It's been so long since I've seen the original Spider-Man movies that I hardly remember them.

Jacqueline

They have great chemistry.

Jacqueline

I saw them many years ago and it would be fun to re-watch them!

Jacqueline

Thank you! Prague looks beautiful!

Jacqueline

You missed a bunch of the signs that Talos was pretending to be Nick Fury. "Hill" called him "Nick" instead of "Fury", he said "your Earth" instead of "our Earth", the almost aggressive "don't invoke her name" response to Peter mentioning Captain Marvel, and just the general demeanor of how Fury was acting in this movie was a lot different from how Fury normally acts. Which, obviously, those are a lot easier to spot on rewatch, and also it's intended that way. But it does go to show it didn't come completely out of left field and was hinted at throughout the movie.

Onno Smits

As a Dutch guy: Yes, that is what The Netherlands is like! 😅 Some parts of it anyway. It was wild to see my home country show up out of the blue in this movie when I watched it in the theatre. This movie has great vibes, and is a nice "dessert" at the end of the Infinity Saga.

Onno Smits

It's always a joy, thank you for being you. Few questions tho. -1- Tony's death and funeral might have happened in Endgame. But do you (like I do) feel that this movie as a whole might have been his eulogy? -2- When you mentioned the Scooby Gang and all of their individual strengths and weaknesses, was that the Hanna-Barbera Scooby Gang or was that the Joss Whedon Scooby Gang? -3- We are now in an airplane hovering over a tulip field in Broek op Langedijk and Pete is making a new suit and Happy is watching him do it and realizes how much of Tony is in this kid. Happy pumps in some AC/DC and Pete's respone is "Oh, I love Led Zeppelin!" That facial disappointment you showed, we all felt it too, and we all (like you) immediately found love in the similarities between the two, and also love in their differences. Tony was always gonna be Tony, and Pete's always gonna be Pete. Is that okay?

Richard Flores

Can't wait to see your reaction Jax! This was a good post Endgame movie. It gives you a little bit of an insight of what the world is like post Blip. It also shows Peter's progression in becoming a better Spider-Man 🕸🕷

Future_Boy85

How on earth do you do that?!?!

The Real NC Picker

If you have to do homework to enjoy a movie is it really that good? Shouldn't it be able to stand on it's own? I loved NWH but but it's not worth skippig stuff to rush to it.

Robjgood

Loved re-watching this with your reax and commentary. Totally identified with all your reactions. When I saw it the first time I remember thinking in the beginning "Fury and Hill look tired and rumpled and like they aren't quite feeling it"....then, when they turned out to be Skrulls the top of my head came off hahaha

Gideon Zahler

J. J. Jameson (John Jonah Jameson jr) as a long history in the comic usually as the publisher or editor of the newspaper Daily Bugle, always calling Spider-Man a menace even having robots created to fight him or try to find his secret identity.

David Bourgeois

Hey Jax, great reaction! Really needed this during my slow work hours. I’m curious what’s next for the Marvel line up after the WandaVision series?

Kyra Sun

The scene where MJ has the birds on her near the beginning and Peter is watching her, you can see Jake gyllenhaal wearing the “typical marvel disguise” of sun glasses and a baseball cap. He’s been following Peter and spying on him the entire time. Also I love the fact that Samuel Jackson says that Peter wouldn’t get that one reference because it’s not a Star Wars reference and Samuel Jackson plays mace windu in Star Wars.

Kendall Brown

Loved the reaction! Before you watch the next Spider-Man, you're might to watch/re-watch the older Spider-Man movies and maybe Venom. Thats later down the line though. All-in-all great reaction!

Israel

You should just skip and go straight to no way home. But you gotta watch the other spiderman movies first

jace Z

Spidey!

Steve Mercier

I love how Tom Holland and Zendaya got together in real life, they are so great together!

Alex Ocean

Figuring out how to sync up movies with reactions on mobile has been such a blessing, if I knew how easy it was I would have done it a long time ago, can’t wait to watch this with you :)

Tick Macphee

I love every incarnation of Spider Man and the MCU Spider Man is no exception. If you get a chance the other Spider Man films (live action or animated) are well worth your time if you haven't seen them already. Each has their own "flavour" of Spider Man, and each is really fun in it's own way.

Danny Roberts

From a Prague native, a delightful reaction as always, Jax! Thank you!

kafe

This movie was the perfect closure after Endgame!

Jacqueline

Ooooooo this is gonna be a good one! *grabs drink and snacks*

Zeliodes

Well it’s technically not an MCU film. It’s Sony. That’s probably why

MotoDork

Oh hey a nice Thanksgiving week treat. I really enjoy this movie. It honestly gets kinda lost, because it's right after Endgame but still in phase 3. But it's a perfectly fine Spiderman movie with some real heart and gives some closure to Tony's death. Plus Spider Monkey.

Lee Aguera

For UK viewers Far From Home (along with the other Spider-Man films) has moved from Disney+ to Netflix.... (streaming services make no sense any more!)
