Post Dante Breakdown & What's next

Good evening gang!

Well it feels a bit weird to not be giving a status update on Dante for the first time since January, but all things must end I suppose. Firstly, thank you all for the support over the last 2 & 1/2 months! I know it was a long time cooking but hopefully it was worth the wait.

It's doing pretty well in terms of views, at least for me anyway, 170K in 9 days. It can be a bit hard to not compare yourself to bigger channels who might get that in a day and feel disappointed, but its important to remember that at one point, getting 100 views per month on a video was a success to me. But having said that, for the amount of extra effort that went into this one, from myself, from LCQP for the music, and Jack Thorn for the art, I did kinda hope that it would pay off by magically blowing up in the algorithm and doing a million views or whatever, which unfortunately didn't happen, but it's okay.

I'm not crying, you're crying.

Sadly, if i can give any advice to any budding creators out there, its a dispiriting but indisputable fact of video creation that the algorithm does not give a shit about effort.

Speaking of videos that mostly go ignored despite the effort, LINEAL 4 IS COMING!

I know I promised I'd get back and finish the Lineal HW story after Dante, and I'm making good on that promise! Tho in the spirit of discussing video performance, I took a look at the views on those videos yesterday and, hoooo boy, they do not do well. In a single week, Dante has done more views than Part 1 and 3 have done in like.. a year. Yes that right, Lineal 1 came out a fucking YEAR AGO. My god time is relentless and were all gonna die. Only part 2 has done relatively well with 212k views.. since May. But, this is why I'm just glad to have you guys. Because while they may not have widespread appeal, It's a great series to work on, Parts 2 and 3 are some of my favourite videos I've done, and I know even if it did 10 views on YouTube, it doesn't matter, because you guys are waiting on the conclusion!

Also if i do say so myself, that title for part 4, Bastards of Heaven, goes HARD AS A MOTHERFUCKER. I heard that line in a song on the new Machine Girl album months ago and instantly though, "fuck, that needs to be the title for Lineal 4". And here we are. I really, really don't want this to end up a 5 parter, so It's gonna be a herculean effort to cram Fedor, Werdum, Overeem, Bigfoot, DC Stipe and Ngannou in there, but fuck it I can try. It just means this may take a bit longer than usual as thats a shitload of story to try and cram in there.

I'm not gonna get past Overeem, am I?

ANYWAY

Immediately next, is the Frank Dux RE-Dux. I had intended to make a Fakes and Frauds supercut once Dante was done, for 2 reasons. People enjoy the supercuts as i guess a 3 hour video is good sleep aid lol, and the Dux video was demontized about a week after it went up so despite it having almost 1 million views, i pretty much never made any money off it. Funny how all my highest performing videos get demonetized. Almost like YouTube doesn't want to pay smaller creators for videos that do well. But no, that couldn't be right, they're owned by google and google are such a wholesome and trustworthy company.

I've done a new edit of the Dux video but its more than just removing the offending section (it was the ride to hell: retribution sex scene in case you were wondering). I took the time to fix some inaccuracies like saying Sheldon Lettich was the director of bloodsport (he was writer, not director), and Saying Bolo Yeung was 53 in Bloodsport (he was 43). Ive also added some stuff too, like emphasizing Dante's influence on Dux, which was something I didn't really realize until making the Dante video. I've changed a few music tracks that didn't fit, and removed one that actively ruined a part of the video by getting really loud and drowning out the voiceover. Also, when i was re-watching it, I thought the ending was needlessly downbeat, like the guy didn't fucking die why is the music so depressing... so I basically made a different ending, wrote a segment to bridge the two videos, just in an effort to make it feel more like a cohesive whole rather than 2 videos stapled together. I also included Hayden Christiansen as a force ghost instead of Frank. So for anyone looking for 3 hours 10 minutes of DUX AND DANTE: REUNITED (AND IT FEELS SO GOOD), I'll be uploading it here first and on Youtube whenever I can be fucked getting it all past copyright again.
