Dante update #2!

Good evening gang!

It is that time of week yet again, it's time for a Dante update. It's been an interesting week for the video all things considered. A few key parts kinda came together this week that made me go from "this is good" to "this is fucking great".

Firstly, Lake City Quiet Pills have sent over some samples of the soundtrack they're making for this, and its... so fucking good. A mix of Asian influenced 70's funk to really fit the Karate ass vibe of the era. Secondly, I got some of the first draft sketches for the illustrations for the video and they are excellent, and just really add to the whole presentation. Thirdly, in my attempt to try and do as much original research as is possible for a man with a full time job who is theoretically, doing all this work on the side, i sent a freedom of information request to the FBI a couple of weeks ago, not expecting to hear back at any point this year if I'm being honest. Well the feds came fucking through, and I managed to get a copy of all 118 pages of the files they had on Dante!

Getting the Dante Files was honestly kind of a watershed moment as they fill in a lot of blanks and contain a whole bunch of stuff I hadn't read anywhere else (and I've been reading books, magazine articles, blog posts, you fucking name it I've read it). So this has been a good week in terms of research, production, and writing. I've gotten a good 45 minutes of work written now, and a full 30 mins of completed video. So shit is going well!

I've also been making more and more background graphics (such as the image above) to try and keep the video visually interesting during segments without illustration OR related video. And it's honestly been fun as hell messing around with images and trying to fuck them up with filters and weird composition modes to make them look interesting. I may have said this in my last update so forgive me if I have, but even if this isn't the best video i make, it'll certainly be the one with the best production values! And as LCQP said earlier this week, it'll be the only YouTube video that comes with an fucking soundtrack album 😂

All things going well, I'd kinda hope to have this one done by the end of February, so another 4-5 weeks or so, but as always, don't take that as gospel!!
