Deathclutch winner and other stuff

First off, congrats to ArdorsAndArbors for your winning Brock competition entry! It was a close run thing but your Nabokov inspired ode to Lesnar stole my heart. So its been a couple of weeks post video now, and I've been debating about what to do next. I think I'd genuinely feel like I'd be letting you all down if i didn't make an attempt to finish off the Lineal HW story, so this is me, committing right now, tonight, Sunday 18th of august, to getting the 3rd video done next. As I said last week, I genuinely don't know if I can wrap up the whole timeline in one video, but I'll do my best.

I had debated about the next video for a few days, as I had another idea come back to be. Something I've been toying with the idea of for about a year now. And I think I'll make it a reality as soon as Lineal part 3 is done. I'd like to attempt a real, proper video about none other than Count Dante himself. I did like 10 or 15 minutes on him in The Madness of Make Believe Martial Arts, but there's a lot more to the story than that. That video was fairly surface level research and I'd love to do a proper deep dive into his story. It'll be difficult, as there is genuinely very little footage of the guy, but I'll find a way to make it work. His story is genuinely nuts, cocaine, pet tigers, playboy models, staging competitions to knock out live bulls, the guy was fucking mental.

But first, I owe you all the conclusion to the Lineal saga! It will give me time to better prepare for Dante's inferno anyway.

So just to keep you all up to date on what's going on with myself and the channel behind the scenes, part of the reason I did such a big push to try and spread the word about the Lesnar video was that after it dropped, its numbers were going to be used as a kind of leverage to help get the History of MMA series I've been working on picked up by a production company. I previously had a company in the US trying to sell it to a streaming service, but my guy I'm working with felt they were taking way to long getting it sold, so we took it back from them to see if we could find someone else to get it done faster. We found a new company here in Ireland, and they were all hyped after seeing the trailers and series outline, and the numbers for the Lesnar video were good, so seemed like we had a god start. But the head of the production company was an old guy in his 70s who just didn't get it and ultimately passed on the idea. Honestly I'm not surprised, MMA is still kinda looked down by by a lot of the older generation here, so when I heard this dude was 70, yeah I kinda figured it wasn't gonna happen. If it had been the history of fucking Gaelic Football or something, it probably would've been snapped up. Disappointing, but we've still got contacts in other places lots of other avenues of attack to get this shit sold. It does mean I have to ride the bus to the office tomorrow morning like always though, which sucks. No retirement for me just yet...

Other than that, I'm just enjoying my downtime. Bingeing some videogames (Kunitsu Gami, Thank Goodness you're here, Elden Ring, and thanks to the steam re-release, Doom 2, and also some Doom 3 as it's that games 20th anniversary, fuck what people say, Doom 3 is great). Thank goodness you're here in particular is an instant recommendation, and the less said about it the better so as not to ruin anything for you. All I will say is that it is unlike anything else you'll play this year and genuinely hilarious.

I did make a start on reading House of Leaves too, got a whopping 5 pages done, only a thousand or so left to go. I'm nailing this.
