Drumming is my Life | Kodo Story

Comments

Great story, amazing dedication and skills by the artists! Maybe you can think about shortly mentioning in the narration that this is a new channel. I think that many people (who are not hardcore GO-followers :)) still don't realize that and may think that they are already subscribed.

Matthias Butz

English captions up on CS panel if anyone here wants to proofread. :)

The effects are all smiles 😀

Thanks! I might try to fix some little things but I’m quite happy with the story :)

ONLY in JAPAN

Thanks Kerry. I’ll decide if I’ll do some re-edits in an hour. Some great suggestions and the opening drone shot of the water — does that look choppy to you? Right after the map scene.

Beautiful story!

RALPH WARREN P ALTEA

Precision, at it's best.....even Cozy Powell would be impressed and possibly inspired by them👍

Mal Blount

Hey John, if I had my editor's hat on, I would like to suggest the drone at 19:44 be taken out and dropped in at 23:42 to break up your two POVs. Just a suggestion of course!

Kerry Larsen

You dont have to change a thing , the video is good enought the way it is !!!

Jari Hult

Very good drummers , what else i can say 👍

Jari Hult

I think the title is hard for this one. I want to look at the big picture but in few works. The title should grab attention and make people who don’t know me click to discover the content. But I like this. Keep it simple :)

ONLY in JAPAN

No, that was the Smooth Q and that live stream is available on GO :)

ONLY in JAPAN

Thanks for the title suggestion Jason!

Such a beautiful video, John! Thank you for giving us this early preview. How about keeping the title simple; Taiko Drummers of Japan | Kodo’s Earth Celebration? Maybe that’s a bit long actually..😅 But, whatever you go with I’m sure will be great.

Joel Valdez

Yeah, it’s longer than usual but I’m apt to let it go a little. It goes with the music which makes it easier to do.

ONLY in JAPAN

It’s in the description. I expect people watching this for years beyond the pandemic.

Great, John. Just realized that taiko music doesn't use cymbals, like the one heard in shishimai performances. As for the title..because Sado island pretty looks like a butterfly, maybe "Drums of the Butterfly", or "Beat of the Butterfly"?🤔 By the way, at the end of documentary, is that Chelsea you holding? if its her, than she's having her last goodbye then😅

satrio

That was great! No mention with a small message on screen it was 2019 for all the numbnuts that will whine about masks or missing out on a festival even though they’re not able to travel? 😂 Seriously, really good footage & backstory, man the discipline, they should call them the Kodo stables!

Japan Man

Good job, nice flow to the story. 👍Who says you need special effects in your videos to make them good? Lol

Amanda C.

Thanks John for sharing this with us in advance. Really enjoyed the video, makes you want to get on a plane to Sado Island right now. Maybe soon 💜😎

Suzette Sakazaki

Loved it!!!

Vivian Schiff (TheCHOMP)

Perfection! It is a beautifully made video! Thank you SO much for all your hard work! Many thanks to Hana as well! 💞

Jkoadventures (Jeanette)

That was wonderful, loved it all, and as always such interesting commentary too. I’d love too see the guys in the loin cloth beating the drum as the thumb nail, and perhaps the title of “the heartbeat of Sado”. So glad you introduced me to this last year too. Thanks John

Stephen Gorman ( Gosan )

Truly inspirational 😃 Thanks John.

Ranjit Singh Chaggar

I have seen the go video's around this Kodo performance. So cool to see it back!

Edo van Deest

Excellent! The story was compelling and inspiring. Indeed, Kodo's history and the rigors of a performer's life was fascinating. I loved the quote, “Your lifestyle becomes your performance.” As usual, your craftsmanship was topnotch. The drone shots were magnificent, though perhaps a few too many (I counted six) and each a bit too long. But I doubt if others will notice. Anyway, I enjoyed the video immensely. Thanks for sharing.

Vern Dietsche (aka UFO Bob)

Appreciate that you can bring us this look inside Kodo and the stories that make them who they are! Like how you told the story. Title suggestion, Kodo: Inside the Beats/How Drumming Changed My Life.

Jason Bourgeois

Great job John! Your love and respect of Kudo shows and deservingly so. Thank you for sharing and caring❤️

Thia Mickey D

Hi John, Just a couple of suggestions. Instead of Drumming I would use Taiko Drumming and perhaps use Heartbeat somewhere, since KODO means heartbeat as well as children of the drum..

Brenda MacC

That came out great! Watching the strength and precision of the performers is mind blowing.

Brendan Walker

You can really feel they put their heart into every drum beat. Very moving!

Grace SY Ho

Awesome!

Suede hightower

Not sure it’s ready to roll in the real world. Thumbnail and title still under construction :) any title ideas 💡 please let me know!

ONLY in JAPAN

Going to watch it now. Thanks.

Vern Dietsche (aka UFO Bob)

Thanks for early access John 😊👍
