Japanese Sake Brewery Stay Experience (Saku, Nagano)

Welcome to the world of Strovies - Streamed movies! this is what I tried to show you yesterday. It'll be released when I go to bed to the public. Thanks for the support. The first few min are edited than - the strovie starts. Just more raw footage with some cuts for slow parts. I will assess how this goes and improve it. Write me your feedback here on Patreon and leave a comment on YouTube :) and I'll reply both places.

Comments

Oh, I see you changed it and did the premiere, sorry I actually slept last night! I can see the chat on the side so I now get to see your extra comments. It’s sort of like the directors cut now, you know that extra (audio) track you get with some movies. This will make it more interesting.. hope it started with no hiccups this time? How many turned up in the “audience”? 🙂

Hi john. I really liked the new format you did a pretty good job. pretty much what peso said about the dead air is what i had in my mind. in the other hand, maybe translating/voicing-over what the guide is explaining, i guess this will help to enrich the content.

Marty, do you think it would be better to change to that? I don’t know if I can — maybe? It’s still unlisted. I think the CHAT helps STROVIES since you can turn to this for info, comedy relief, fill dead time 🤔 this is just a trial and I’m sure people will click-skip to parts that interest them or tune out. I will check to see if the table of contents offers spikes in view time.

Yeah, the dead air is a lot more noticeable when there isn’t live chat to fill in the gap. I’d say talking heads (e.g. interviews) help as a substitute.

Thank you! Yes, this is meant to find a balance in the Strovie format. Never done anything like this. I though my maybe doing 2-3 edited parts with music might help every 10-15 min. Give some energy. When it is NOT live, it feels — 🤔 different, right?

I must say that it’s an interesting departure from the duo of either the usual quirky, refined OIJ videos or the raw feel of the GO streams and the occasional recorded premieres, coming somewhere in between. It’s structured but kinda loose in terms of narration (after the first five minutes). Probably the only thing I don’t prefer is the dead air in some scenes (e.g. waiting for the mould to settle), maybe can be accompanied with a voiceover, or cut to something else. Otherwise, a great insight to sake making! I personally could see this become a standalone documentary if you intersperse this with some interviews with the factory people, people living around the factory/rice paddies, more voiceover, maybe doing this over the repeated steps to stir the rice/mould after it’s done once. Kinda like the first five minutes but for the whole length plus music.
