There was no point in trying to explain this: I barely can explain it myself! History vs. social studies teaching endorsement is a bizarre technical problem in Washington State. I already had an endorsement to teach history, but unfortunately most schools in the state are hiring teachers with the social studies endorsement, not the history endorsement. Social studies teachers can teach history, and also civics, economics, and geography as well, and most schools around me want social studies teachers, who can teach all of these subjects. I found this out the hard way last summer, when very few schools had openings for history teachers, but many schools had openings for social studies teachers. I can see why they do this, but this situation temporarily left me with almost nowhere to apply for work, even though I was a certificated teacher. At least now I can apply for the social studies teaching positions. Complicated, complicated, complicated.

I was up late for this one, but it was worth it. I was right about to hit the sack for the night when I got the notification for this! Thanks for the shout-out, John! With the WEST-E Social Studies test passed, I am already applying for social studies teaching positions, and my social studies endorsement from the state is on the way. We will see what happens next.
