2018-07-07 14:30:35 +0000 UTCFor your walk underground, I asked how the corridors held up to the 2011 earthquake. Ironic since there was a 6.0 earthquake today. How scary was that?

2018-07-07 14:21:27 +0000 UTCHi Mike, my friend Simon (YouTuber from Simon and Martina) has loads of tattoos and lives living in Japan! His tattoos are all non-violent which help. Public baths on Tokyo are also 99% tattoo friendly these days. Work depends on how you can cover it up. Japan is a conservative culture and whoever you work for — you represent them, become part of their image which is why the salaryman Route is hard but not impossible — but with 2020 coming, being different could be an asset. In the end it comes down to your ability to speak Japanese (critical to finding any good job) your skills (are they something others can’t do) your education level (if you have a masters degree, you have more education than most Japanese and that’s respectable) ... etc. and your connection. No inside info — finding jobs is up to the seeker and it requires leg work (and luck). As you are studying now, know what you’ll need to do now and focus on that. Start making connections. Many of my German friends worked an interns with Fuso (Mitsubishi) or other Germany companies with connections to Japanese ones. Taking the JLPT level 2 is a great certification to have! This will be hard to answer in today’s Q&A and I’ll mention it and ask follow ups here on during the stream.

2018-07-07 12:42:51 +0000 UTCHi John, I attempted to send you a direct message for the Skype info. Both times I tried patreon timed out (despite my fast internet). Would you mind sending the info to me as well? Thanks!

2018-07-07 10:25:26 +0000 UTCHey John, I will start studying Japanese and Philosophie in October this year and after this, I want to move to Japan for work and living. BUT I'm heavily tattooed (arms, hands, throat, neck, upper body, legs) and a bit worried to find a job in Japan. I don't wanna work in the office as a typical salaryman, and I think I couldn't, but do you think, that I even have a chance to find a good job? You have lived so long in Japan, do you have some "inside" Information? ;) Greetings from Frankfurt and thank you :o)

2018-07-07 07:20:23 +0000 UTCI know!! I debated of if I wanted to do it at this time -- but I figure we'll keep it to about 30-40 min and catch the 2nd half of the English v Sweden game. It's going to be a good one too - probably playing in the background in my house!

2018-07-07 07:13:36 +0000 UTCYes finally one I can make! My 8 year old son Brandon wants to know if you could do a train themed post card? He's mad about trains as I'm sure you've guessed haha!
