Compress to Impress Feedback
Added 2025-03-16 21:46:02 +0000 UTCCompress to Impress has come to an end! I had fun making it, messing around with this more exaggerated idea and trying some new things. But now it's time to ask how you all felt about it! Please be honest, I'll take things constructively and try to take what I can into account for future projects! I'm always striving to learn and improve.

Glad to help. Looking forward to your future works, as usual.

2025-03-21 20:45:24 +0000 UTCNo problemo!! I’m glad that you’re so open to letting your fans give feedback on your work so that you can better understand what we’re looking for, and potentially take away some things to work on or improve your already fantastic art!

2025-03-21 03:32:04 +0000 UTCAdmittedly, looking at it again, I missed the "The End" on pages 11 and 12, and thought the epilogue pages were the true conclusion. I do think pages 11 and 12 ended naturally and well enough with the acceptance of Brie's bulk, but admittedly, I find the epilogue kinda goes against it, and made it feel like there was supposed to be more. I know one's feelings can go back and forth, but I find that it muddled the conclusion a bit and made things less satisfactory. Apologies if this ended up more as a ramble.

2025-03-21 02:56:07 +0000 UTCI see. If it was actually supposed to be bittersweet then I suppose you did a really good job. Can't wait to see more about her

2025-03-21 02:56:04 +0000 UTCThank you very much for the feedback! The ending was intended to be a bit more bitter than my other stuff, but I can see how that maybe wasn't built up to very well after the date pages. I'll keep your criticism in mind for the future, and I'm glad that despite your critique you still enjoyed the comic!

2025-03-21 02:37:54 +0000 UTCThanks for the feedback. Do you think you can elaborate on that a bit? I'd like to know why you feel that way so I can better try to address it in the future.

2025-03-21 02:34:14 +0000 UTCThanks for the feedback! Lack of characterization for Brie seems to be a pretty common critique, so it's something I'll try to consider more in the future. I also understand that some of the illustrations were a bit too much on the silly side for some people's tastes.

2025-03-21 02:31:53 +0000 UTCThanks for the feedback! The intention was for it to be structured a bit more like a sequence, just with extended vignettes rather than single images, but I fully acknowledge that wasn't well-communicated, and may not have been the best choice either. I can see how that led to a lack of meaningful interactions with other characters. I also want to say that the intention was for the end to be a bit more bitter than usual, and that Brie's story will probably be continued at some point. But I fully acknowledge that kind of ending isn't for anyone, and I understand that it wasn't very satisfying for you. I'll try my best to take what you've said into consideration for future projects! Thanks again!

2025-03-21 01:51:08 +0000 UTCThanks for the feedback! I can see what you mean about the story/characterization being a bit shallow and most of the emphasis being on the main gags. I'll keep that in mind in the future!

2025-03-21 01:44:20 +0000 UTCThanks for the feedback! This was intended to be a bit of a more bitter ending, but there are plans to do more with her in the future, so things may still turn around for her!

2025-03-21 01:39:11 +0000 UTCThanks for the feedback, I can definitely see where you're coming from on the characterization front. I'll try to put more effort into conveying that in the future!

2025-03-21 01:36:44 +0000 UTCHi! I'm glad you liked the comic! Regarding your question, it's meant to be a bit up to interpretation! She definitely has a skill for hiding how big she's getting, but whether she's as successful as is shown on the page is intentionally ambiguous.

2025-03-18 10:07:26 +0000 UTCVery good paneling once again, (when you experiment it usually goes over well!) and her being bigger in general was a refreshing change to see. It's hard to ask for more in a side project like this, but more would be appreciated. I would say that this proof of concept was nice, and those who particularly enjoy sucking-it-in and wardrobe malfunction are happy. Story-wise, it was alright, overall. Brie is a wonderful addition to the OC cast, and maybe we could see once again once in a while. If we return to this storyline in the future, this first part will be seen as better than it is currently. (still enjoyed it, but) Overall score: B-

2025-03-18 04:32:38 +0000 UTCBrie became my favorite OC of yours rapidly. I absolutely adore her and need to see so much more of her. I was a little upset to not see her get a happier ending with her date not going the way she wanted, but I hope she finds someone who makes her happy in future adventures you give her. I only say I wanted the story to go on longer because I would love any story she’s in at this point.

2025-03-17 17:08:37 +0000 UTCFor what it was, it was good. However, I am here for the infinifat content, and from that perspective, the characters were nowhere near fat enough (getting there at the end, though that would be the point at which I would have wanted to see her start) and so I was not engaged at all.

2025-03-17 05:45:52 +0000 UTCHonestly, I think you just left us completely in the dark after Brie's corset incident, with it literally followed by the beach scene. Makes it feel a bit disconnected, and maybe needed a little bit of extra time on that arc. Overall, still a high quality series.

2025-03-17 04:52:02 +0000 UTCI absolutely loved this FFTE!! Personally my favorite one out of the bunch so far! Brie is SUPER adorable, and seeing her try with ever-increasing difficulty to suck in her gut and hide her growing body from others is top tier fan-service imo! As I was reading through the comics though, a lot of people seem pretty disappointed that she didn’t end up with a boyfriend/accepting her new, fat body by the end. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinions and personal tastes of course! And, accepting/loving yourself for who you are is objectively the healthiest place to for anyone to end up! However, since Brie and Salt’s OCs are fictional characters, I personally like seeing a variety of stories and experiences, even if that means that not every character gets the happiest or healthiest possible ending for them (though I do enjoy those happy endings when they happen!). That’s why I like Salt’s OCs so much, because all of his girls walk significantly different paths in life (albeit usually fattening 😆); there’s something for everyone! And Brie’s story, including how it ended definitely felt like it was for me, so I’m very happy with it 😁

2025-03-17 01:55:26 +0000 UTCI think overall it's rather good I enjoyed the story despite Brie feeling a bit lacking in character other than she's got a cat & she's in denial. I'm not the biggest (heh) fan of some of the illustrations as they're are a few of them that can be a bit more silly than I'd like. Overall solid, but I don't think it's on the level of some of the others. Hopefully we'll see one about Nicole as she doesn't get much love.

2025-03-16 23:36:44 +0000 UTCI really liked the story, but I really do hope that she gets incorporated into more works in the future. Sometimes it seems there are so many OCs now that some seem to get shelved for a long time. The concept of the story was very nice but more interactions with other characters would definitely be beneficial in the future to make it more of a story in a sense. The ending also left a lot to be desired. Like others have said, I'm a little sad that she seemed to be alone at the end.

2025-03-16 23:22:39 +0000 UTCI’m ngl, I’m pretty disappointed. For starters, the fats are good, however, just like with Take Me Out, it starts to get repetitive. You can sum up almost every page with “Brie sucks in her stomach and then lets it all out.” The ending is underwhelming too. She goes on a date, her corset breaks, and then… We just cut to Brie being on the beach? And depressingly(I’m exaggerating but it’s clear she isn’t exactly happy)accepting her weight? It feels anticlimactic. What was the point of the date then? You could cut it out and nothing would’ve changed. The cameo from Selene didn’t do much for me either. It’s cool but nothing more than that. Then we get introduced to a new character, Flare. She’s a streamer which can be an interesting, it feels so sudden though. I know this all sounds negative but I don’t hate it, I just think it could’ve been better. I appreciate you for making these comics in the first place and letting your community voice their opinions, both good and bad. There are something’s I did enjoy. Brie is a nice change of pace in terms of design, since she has freckles, making her stand out compared to your other OC’s. It was funny too, like on pages 2 and 6. In the future, I hope we get a comic that’s like Losing Control, where it has good fats AND a good story. You have so many interesting OC’s that could have their stories expanded upon, like Halie and Nat or Nicole. Overall, it was decent for what it was.

2025-03-16 23:21:15 +0000 UTCI loved the art, the humourous tone, the excellent gesture and composition of the characters, and the flow of the panelling. However, I really didn’t like that the main character was so fat-phobic. Stories of coming to terms with positivity of the self (as in the case of the “losing control” comic) are much more congruent with healthy, non-self hating approaches to await gain story. Trying to “ suck it in” seemed understandable for the first half of the comic; but, at a certain point, Brie’s continued fear and dread about her own body makes me and my partner very sad. 😔

2025-03-16 23:02:45 +0000 UTCAmazing story and art as always BWS! I kinda felt like it had more room to continue from there and wasn’t expecting it to end when it did, but that also leads into extra pieces down the line if you feel like adding more to it! Incredible work once again

2025-03-16 22:38:01 +0000 UTCI personally loved the story and the fan-service. I'm glad the comic was expanded a few pages before it's completion. No pun intended. It gave Brie some room to breathe and develop more. Pun intended. I would've liked to have a follow-up with her date but that's me being a sucker for happy endings and resolutions. Anyway, I loved the new character expressions as well as some of the more exaggerated panels. Even the silly sound effects hit the mark. This comic felt more inspired by both anime and cartoon influences. Page 9 is by far my favorite scene you've done of all time, and currently my home screen! Love to see that as an 18 x 18! *wink wink* I think this was a great opportunity to stretch the limits of what your characters can do. Both figuratively and literally! I feel like you could express them in new ways with the suspension of disbelief of what is possible with your art. Brie is definitely a new favorite for me, and looking forward to Flare whenever that may be.

2025-03-16 22:32:47 +0000 UTCThis was a really fun and enjoyable comic. I liked the "sucking it in" concept. I also liked the main character brie, it's interesting to see a character wrestling with her weight in the way she does. I do think her story could've had a little more depth or given more presence in the comic as it sort of felt sidelined for the physical gags of her sucking it in. I'm glad to see that we could get more of her in the future as I would like her struggle to be further explored and possibly see her cone to accept her fat and no longer feel shame about showing her body as it really looks.

2025-03-16 22:28:43 +0000 UTCI have really enjoyed this comic! You have an impressive ability to write such interesting and dynamic characters with genuinely compelling arcs, all while managing to maintain the fatty element we're all here for—and at such a consistently high quality, too. The more experimental and exaggerated aspect was pretty fun. The expressions in some of the panels were so lively and animated; however, it did feel a bit cartoony at times, and I personally prefer the more ‘realistic’ approach to your style. Speaking of which, you blow me away by your ability to seamlessly blend realism into your art style (e.g., the way Brie's belly looks when she sucks in). It's very satisfying to see you execute moments like that so masterfully. I'll admit that I was a little disappointed with the way the comic ended, specifically in regards to the fact that Brie didn't end up with the guy she went on a date with (although we don't know if that was him texting her in the epilogue or someone else). To elaborate further, it felt like the way those last few pages were set up and the ambiguity as to how the date actually ended created somewhat of an expectation that they would end up together—at least, that is how I perceived it. Brie just seemed so sad by those last couple of pages and I feel like she really didn't deserve that. Having each page be its own, individual story (at least until the last few pages) was a welcome change to your usual approach to these comics, but I do still prefer having a continuous narrative as the overall pacing gets a little inconsistent and prevents a lot of potential depth and exploration of Brie's character. Anywho, Brie has been a really enjoyable character and a great addition to your already brilliant collection of OCs, and I so desperately want to see you do more with her. These Feast for the Eyes projects you do for us are always such a treat, as is literally everything else you provide for us. Keep up the amazing work, Salt! I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next!

2025-03-16 22:24:06 +0000 UTCThe character work was really fun, but the very epsiode nature of this one felt a bit sporadic. Still cute to check in on though!

2025-03-16 22:22:08 +0000 UTCI liked it overall! It was fun to see her struggles and all the ways/outfits she cartoonishly bwoomped out in, while constantly snacking and getting bigger. I especially liked the end, where she let it all out after finally realizing she looked fat regardless, might as well look her real size. I would've liked to see her interact with other, even fatter women, maybe have a little inner conflict as a fatter OC of yours shows off the goods and perhaps even encourages her to accept her size. I'd adore seeing a sequel, maybe where she's going on dates with a cute chubby gal who wants her bigger- and she has to constantly push her belly *out* to thrill her boo. (Or some sorta reversal like that, I'm just a sucker for a huge lass who adores her hugeness!)

2025-03-16 22:04:21 +0000 UTCI really loved the story but I am saddened a bit by the ending. She was so popular and liked before but now she seems to be completely alone. I really hope she gets a friend or boyfriend to make her smile again

2025-03-16 22:00:54 +0000 UTCThe wg/fanservice was 10/10, and the story was solid. The only thing I would change is Brie's characterization; we don't learn much about her, and there's nothing especially likeable or interesting. I'm sure this could be fixed in future comics, though.
Henry Mattingly
2025-03-16 21:57:12 +0000 UTC100% personal preference here, but I've noticed that Compress to Impress and some of your recent OC stuff has started to look more cartoony as opposed to anime/manga-ish. There's nothing wrong with this of course, but I personally would have preferred the style you use for your anime fan art over the cartoony style. Other than that though, a very solid comic.

2025-03-16 21:54:58 +0000 UTCMore exaggerated comic plots and fanservice such as this will always be welcome. Example, the girl isn't that fat, as she's pushing 700 pounds, and the excuses she'll come up with

2025-03-16 21:54:54 +0000 UTCI loved the story and the art and the character!!!! This was very fun! I was a bit confused at the end though, is the idea that she had been getting fatter and when we saw her “compress” were we seeing what she thought she looked like to others? Or does she actually have some superhuman ability to compress and shrink? I thought this whole time she had a superpower

2025-03-16 21:54:31 +0000 UTCThe one thing I want from this is to see more of Brie outside of this comic like Selene. I know this sounds like a lot but it would be cool to see her having her own character sheet. I would really like that to some other characters like Nikume for example.
Teetar
2025-03-16 21:53:03 +0000 UTCThis one was great, but a bit weaker than some of your other comics. The lack of another consistent character or characters for her to interact with kinda made the comic feel more like a traditional WG sequence instead of a story.
