Apple Store - A Little Public Service Announcement and Teaser for A Showcase of Power
Added 2025-04-08 14:15:49 +0000 UTCI know you all are definitely not expecting a post on Tuesdays these days, but I wanted to share something regarding the recent changes Patreon has made to the payment system, particularly the Apple in-App purchase.
From my records, there's a few of you who subscribes my membership through the app store from Apple, and unfortunately Apple is adding a 30% tax on top of your usual pledge amount, making it extra costly for you to enjoy my work. On top of that, they also withhold all app payments for 75 days after your pledge, which is pretty crazy as it will sit somewhere between Apple and Patreon for a full 2 month before the pledge actually shows up into my account. (I currently have a good few hundreds getting stuck this way and no way to access it. Thank god I'm not living paycheck to paycheck for the moment)
So unless you have a very specific reason to pledge through App store, you will save money by going through the pledge on a web browser before you access the same thing on your app. I don't think Apple or Patreon has openly told you this, but now you know!
This only applies to pledges made through Apple Store, I haven't heard any issues from Androids, or simply using web browser on your iphones so you guys are all safe from this!
Anyhow, here's something a little more fun: With us starting a brand new project - A Showcase of Power, a slightly shorter project featuring our incredible goddess - SalomeToes, I figured I'd work on some upgrades to improve the animation project even further! I've been tinkering around skin materials, color grading and cinematography with an upgrade to the latest blender, and I'm so happy with the result so far!

2025-05-01 17:37:26 +0000 UTCI'm getting the same amount as you would pledge on the browser, but you are paying 30% more (these extras goes to Apple). So basically you are paying 30% more for Patreon to exist in Apple's payment system. Apple also holds the payment for 75 days so I will only see it after 75 days from the date of your pledge. (And they don't give us an option to disable this payment option) You don't need to cancel for the month if you pledged already, but you can cancel the next payment and switch it up and pay through the browser, cost you less, get the same thing ;)
