2026-01-19 20:49:29 +0000 UTC View PostA little late with the update, due to my Christmas/New-Year break, but just got the numbers finished for December, and with that for the entirety of 2025.
I was really nervous that December wouldn't end well, as the sales at the start of the month wasn't looking good. But saw a huge boost in sale when the Christmas content was released, making last month finish 2.5K USD green, and with that the overall result for the year is 2100 USD in the green!
This is the first time since 2022 that the game have run a profit for the year, and while it isn't a huge profit, it's still a big turn around from last year that ended 3K in the red.
So I can't thank you all enough for all the support!
Going forward, the economic situation still isn't perfect, but it's a step in the right direction. Sales for the start of January aren't too strong, but I hope that they'll somewhat around in the coming weeks, and that we overall can continue the positive development.
But to help with the economic situation, and really rebuild the economic buffer that was lost the last couple of years, I've said yes to a part-time work offer from another game to build their server infrastructure. This will be done through my company Next World Games (that technically runs AMQ), meaning all the money earned will go into the AMQ budget. I will be spending around 15 hours a week from next month until summer on this, so it will take some development time away from AMQ, but I overall still plan on continuing the development, and with the extra money, it will hopefully both help secure AMQ financially in the coming years, and potentially allow me to invest more into the game (would love to start adding animated avatars again, and look into getting a UI/UX specialist to help with both webpage design, but also a potential mobile version).
That's it for this update, so glad we ended up in the green and looking forward to sharing 2026 with all of you!

2025-12-09 18:35:39 +0000 UTC View PostDuring the dev planning stream, we were looking at the small bug fixes and feature requests that have come in from the Discord. I'll be including as many of these together with the features in the roadmap released, so was planning to go over the list on stream, to find out which one should be prioritized.
This turned out to be too long a list to go over on stream, so instead I'll make a post here with all the entries, and Patreon's can let me know below which one you would like to see me work on, and I'll focus on them.
Sadly, there isn't a good way to share the actual list in Hack n' Plan with all of you, but I managed to find a way to grab all the titles. While not perfect, I hope this work, and I'm open to ideas for other setups in the future.

Just finished updating the numbers for November, and we just barely made it into the positive, with the month result being roughly USD in the green.
I'm happy that the month ended in the green, was looking pretty dicey towards the end of it. Through, we barely just made it, still leaving the overall year around 450 USD in the red, here's hoping for the strong December to push the year into the green at the end!
The overall breakdown for this month result is actually a rather weak sale numbers, but with a rough increase in Patreon's by 10% to make up for some of it. This combined with low art expenses pushed the month into green.
This is still a pretty tight result for the month, but I hope that the localization updates plus the new development approach will improve things in the long run.
Through, I'm still quite nervous for the finances in the short term due to the low economic buffer not leaving much flexibility. To solve the buffer issue, and make the game's economy a bit more safe, I'm considering doing some part-time work for hire next year, got another game company I've known interested in hiring me to create the server back-end for their game. Nothing fully decided yet, but this would be pretty flexible work, allowing me to also work on AMQ at the same time, and the extra money worked for it will go into the game's economy, helping rebuild the buffer. While I will aim to work extra hours to be able to do both, it will most likely mean some reduced hours in AMQ development, but the economic boost will make everything a lot more stable, and allow me to invest it into the game down line. So I'm strongly considering the offer, but we'll work out more details next month.
That's it for this month, hopefully I'll be back with a positive result for the year with the next update!

2025-12-02 18:13:10 +0000 UTC View PostHere's the VOD for the first dev planning stream from last Sunday, where level 2+ Patreons discussed what updates should be looked at for December (once the localization update is finished) and January.
I'll also be posting a roadmap with the feature/fixes decided on during the stream one of the coming days.
As I mentioned earlier this month, I plan on doing regular streams here on Patreon for level 2+ Patreon backers, where we discuss and plan what features and bug fixes should be focused on next. With the localization update getting close to release (hoping to have it finished within the next 1-2 weeks). I'll be hosting the first of the dev planning streams on Sunday at 21:00 CET.
For future streams, I plan on moving around the time it's hosted, so people in different timezones also get a chance to join in. But beside that, this post will also serve as a way for people to come with suggestions and input, so they also can be taken into consideration even if you're not able to attend the stream.
So feel free to drop your suggestions and inputs in the comment, and make sure to like suggestions you agree with, so we can see what ideas people like =)
I'll also drop some of the features/bug-fixes I'm considering could be up next below, as well as some of the general development things we need to decide on.
Feature Sizes
Christmas and New Year's are coming up next month, and the localization update also need to be finished, so there will be limited development time for December, so for the first stream I'm thinking we'll look at both the development for December and January, so we'll be able to fit in more stuff.
One overall topic is how big features we want to look at, as it will obviously be possible to multiple smaller updates in the time it takes to make one larger.
Seeing as I'm just finishing a larger feature with the localization update, I would suggest looking at some smaller/quicker updates for December and January, and then saving any longer updates for sometime into 2026.
In-game Economic Display
Time: probably 1-2 hours
Been thinking of adding a display of the economic result in-game, probably somewhere below the new tab, to show the economic result of last month and overall for the year. I currently post this info on the Patreon, but think it would make sense to display it in-game, to make it more clear how the economic situation is looking for the game.
Nexus Lobby Public Queue
Time: 5-10 hours.
This has been requested for some time, and I had some original ideas for this that would be more extensive, but got an idea on how to add a quick solution for this last month. This would be a dropdown at the top of the room browser (and the Nexus dungeon menu), where you can see Nexus lobbies where people are looking for more players, you can then click the lobby to join. Likewise, when you're setting up a Nexus lobby, you can set it to public, displaying it in these menus and allowing people to join.
Song Tagging and Filtering
Time: 8-16 hours.
This is something I've talked about with the mod team. This would be a system where mods can create tags and assign them to songs, which players can then use to filters what type of songs should be included in quizzes. So an extension of the current song category system, but I could also see moving rebroadcast and dubs into this system as well down the line.
Development of this would be split up into two parts, first the backend system allowing mods to create and assign tags, and then later ones they've had a chance to tag shows, the addition of it to song filters.
General Feature Requests and Bugs
Time: ~
I got a long list (90 entries) of all the bug reports and feature requests posted over on the Discord (need to update it with the latest one). A lot of these are rather quick updates, so thinking we'll go through the list together, and pick out the ones we think are the most important.
Those are my current suggestions, make sure to let me know what you think of them below, and drop your own suggestions as well!
Hope to see you all at the livestream on Sunday, where we'll discuss all of them and figure out what development should be looked at next =)
Thanks for all the support since I announced the development change last week. Been getting a lot of great feedback, and messages from all of you, as well as many new Patreon backers! We're still not all the way there economy wise, but I'm hopeful that November can end in the positive, and that we're on the right track =)
Wanted to give you all a quick update on how and when the development stream I announced last week will work.
The format is not set in stone yet, but I imagine it'll work that I post an input post here on Discord some days before the stream, where I can list some of my ideas and everyone can come with suggestions to what the development should focus on, and come with inputs to the ideas. That way people who are not able to make the stream can still get some ideas then.
On the stream, I'll then compile the different ideas and together with the chat will discuss what should be focused on, maybe going over the feature/bug-report backlog I got compiled from the Discord etc., and by the end of it hopefully have a good idea of what features and bugs should be looked at next. I'll then throw together a quick roadmap covering it, and get started on getting it created.
As for when the first stream will be, I was hoping to do it a bit earlier, but the localization update has been dragging a bit out, and I really want to finish it before starting to look at new stuff. I'll also be out traveling Wednesday to Monday next week, and while I have and will pull some long nights and work through the weekend to make up for the lost time, I most likely won't have it finished before then. But should be able to make it pretty close, so I hope to be able to do the full release towards the end of the month / start of the next one.
So I'm thinking of doing the first stream either on the 29th (Saturday) or 30th (Sunday), most likely sometime after central ranked. Want to place the first one on a day when the most people will be able to join, but in the long run move around, so everyone get a chance to join at some point.
That's it for this quick update, as I mentioned nothing is set in stone yet, so let me know if you have any suggestions or input, as well if Saturday or Sunday will fit you better.
-Quick Edit-
Forgot to include originally, that I should be able to do the stream here on Patreon (through I've never tried their stream mode), so the stream will be limited to level 2+ Patreon backers. Once the stream is finished, I'll also release the VOD, so everyone interested will be able to check it out.
I'm happy to share with all of you the alt. version set for Asahi!
The set was created by the ever talented TaiOni and will go live this Friday!
2025-11-10 17:23:14 +0000 UTC View Post(Long post, TL;DR at the bottom)
If you have been following the economic updates, it has sadly mainly been negative updates, as the game have overall been losing money for the last 2.5 years. While there have been ups and downs, the overall trend has remained downwards, to the point where the game is barely struggling by.
This can't continue forever, as the game will run out of money at some point, and after chatting with the community about this I've come to the realization that part of the issue have been my approach to trying to solve the issue. I've been chasing big new features in the hope that they'll bring in new players or bring back old ones, which have felt more and more important as the game lost more and more money.
But this has meant that I've been neglecting the overall quality of the game, and it's existing features, as I've been chasing after the new ones. Often leaving features half abandoned after release when they didn't solve the economic situation, and making the development feel unfocused and stagnant as you all weren't getting the updates you wanted.
I've felt like this was the approach I had to take, to get the game's economy back in shape, so I would have the money to safely do all the features all of you have been asking for. But looking back at it now, I feel like it have been the completely wrong approach, and I should have done the opposite, focusing more on improving the game for all you first instead of chasing new players. You all are who have supported the game all this time, and I should focus on making the game one that the existing community wants to fund, instead of chasing after new players.
So going forward, I want to focus more on the features and updates you all have been asking for, and involve the community more in the decision of what's being worked on. My idea for how to do this, would be to once a month host a live stream here on Patreon to decide together with Patreon backers (probably level 2+) what should be worked on next. While also releasing some smaller scale roadmaps showing what's being worked on and what's coming up. This should allow you all get a bigger influence on the development of the game, and make me focus more on the updates you all want.
The localization update (which I still believe will be great for the game) should hopefully be finished in a couple of weeks, so I hope to host the first of these live streams later this month. I'm also looking at finding a good setup to allow people who can't be there for the live stream discussion to share their inputs on what should be worked on.
I want this to be a change that gets the development back on track for making the game better for everyone who plays it, and make it something that you'll want to start, continue or return to supporting, as I want to work with all of you to make the best possible game!
For the economy to be stable again, the game needs to make around 1.5k USD more each month, all of this money goes into running and improving the game, and I hopefully with all of your support we can get not only the game's economy back on track, but also it's development.
Thanks for all the support, and I hope I can continue sharing AMQ with you all for many more years to come!
TL;DR
I've been focusing too much on features to get new players to solve the issue with the game losing money, instead of improving the game and adding the features the community wants.
To get focus back on what the community want, I'll be hosting monthly live streams for Patreon's where we decide what should be worked on.
I hope this can help get not only the game's economy, but also it's development back on track.
The numbers are in for October, and they're sadly not looking good.
The month have ended roughly 1,500 USD in the red, putting the overall year back in the red at roughly 600 USD in the negative.
I was surprised by this result, as the sale were looking decent for October, actually ending up around 500 USD higher than September, that managed to just barely end up in the green. But September was very low when it comes to artist expenses, and October also had a couple of quarterly expenses that combined ended up pushing the month into the red.
I'm very sad to see us slip back into the red for this month, as the game's economic buffer is still very low after the last couple of years bad results.
So beside it being very stressful, it has also become very limiting on what I can do for the game as I have to conserve founds, forcing me to stop with content such as avatar illustrations and focus more on the content that have a higher chance of generating revenue.
I hope that in the long run, the localization update I'm working on at the moment will help, as it opens the game up for more players. But I do also need to do something in the short term, so we can avoid the game running out of money, and while I do hate asking people for money the development of the game sadly requires money >.<
So I've been thinking of doing a month of promoting the Patreon (which can hopefully just be a once a year thing). What I'm thinking is setting a goal of hitting an additional 1k USD (putting us at 4.5k) in Patreon backing this month, and then having milestone rewards unlocking for every Patreon backer as we progress and a big reward if we hit the goal.
The rewards I've been thinking of would be something like:
Every 100 USD towards the goal: 15 tickets/tokens to all level 2+ Patreon
Goal reached: Every level 4+ backers can nominate a new avatar/skin, which will then be put out for a vote between all backers, with the winner being added to the game as a regular skin/avatar that the player who nominated it gets to create the full description for the design and be part of the design process (if they want).
Goal reached: Every level 6 backer get to nominate a new legendary skin, a random nomination is then selected and will get added to the game, with the nominator also getting to create the design description and be part of the design process.
Let me know what you think of this idea, and if you have any suggestions, I really hope that we'll be able to change the economic situation around, as there's still so much more I want to do with the game.

2025-10-06 18:44:30 +0000 UTC View PostThe results for September are in here, so here's the monthly economic update!
The overall result of September is roughly 100 USD in the green. While a very small profit, I'm very happy about this result as September is usually a very weak sale month, due to no major skin releases or sales. So my overall goal for the month was to not drop back in the red overall for the year, so ending the month itself in the green is a huge success.
We're still only around 800 USD in the green for the year, but the remaining month is usually pretty good sales wise, due to the Halloween and Christmas skins as well as the 8-year anniversary. So we're a good way towards ending the year in the green, and starting to rebuild the game's economic buffer.
So thanks a bunch to all of you for supporting the game, and creating such a strong result for September!
That it for this month update, hopefully I'll be back with green numbers again next month.

2025-09-16 17:08:10 +0000 UTC View PostBeen some time since the last developer update, so wanted to give you all a quick one.
July and August have been lots of minor patches, where I've been going through the backlog of feature requests and bug reports, while fighting to keep the revenue going and keeping the game afloat.
But I feel like I've covered that part enough in the economic updates, and with today patch done I'm planning on starting on patch 0.27 next week, so the next major patch.
As I've mentioned earlier, the next major feature will be localization for the game, aka you'll be able to play the game with the UI and messages in different languages. Still need to work out all the details, but my plan is to have the community help translate the game to which ever language they would like to see.
This would be done by making a system where a translation file is slotted into the game to display a different language. Anyone who want to help translate the game, can then help with creating the translation file for that language. Once a translation file have been completed, I'll add it to the game, so other players will be able to use it.
I imagine the majority of the work will be to get all the current text setup to use this translation file system, but to make sure people can start translating as quickly as possible, I plan on releasing it in steps.
The first one being with the system handling displaying translations, but not implemented everywhere, but with an option where players can supply their own file. I'll then gradually expand the implementation, giving more content community translators can translate, so that the translation work can start by the system is fully implemented.
My rough estimate is that this will probably take 1-2 months. I'll also be sharing more details on how the translation will work once I get the system more fleshed out, and translation is ready to start.
That it's for this time, hope you're all enjoying the game!

These will be part of the Ticket System, but I'm still considering what tier (rare or epic) they should be placed in, so would love to hear what tier you think would be fair to place them in?
The first batch of decorations will go live this Friday!

The sale and Patreon went well in August, and the Stripe integration and change to Euro's have reduced fees and resulted in a better conversion. So thanks for all the support in August, I'm glad to see us back in the green again!
September is usually a weaker month, but I plan on launching the new avatar content I showed last month this Friday together with a new ticket sale, which should hopefully boost the month making sure we'll stay in the green as we go into the Fall and Halloween season next month.
That's it for this month, as always, thanks a bunch for all the support, it's what allows me to create AMQ!
2025-09-01 14:31:15 +0000 UTC View PostI've been considering doing some streams where I play some AMQ with the community, chat about the game and answer questions, so wanted to ask if this is something people would be interested in?
Been wanting to play more of the actual game, as I am rarely able to find time for it, so this could be a good way to get some more playtime in while also getting to chat more with the community.
It will probably take away a bit of development time, but I imagine it'll only be streaming a couple of hours weekly or bi-weekly, so should still be plenty of time to keep development going. As I'm based in the EU the stream would also be sometime doing the evening in the EU.
But let me know below if this is something you think could be fun, and that you could be interested in joining =)
