We arrived in Tokyo and stayed in Akihabara, Tokyo's quintessential Otaku district. It was packed with stores selling all kinds of collectibles, mainly anime figures, books, manga, as well as various nerdy fashion accessories. We shopped at many discount stores, but we also had to stop at Animate and Mandarake with their huge collections of products for manga and anime fans. Leena insisted on spending some time at Taito Station, a multi-story store full of arcades (Editor's Note: The Gundam P.O.D.s are a personal favorite.) We also went to Super Potato, a real delight for gamers, although their prices have gone up a lot. There were so many cool retro consoles too! Leena was reluctant to buy them due to the prices but I reminded her that we had the laboratory's credit card, so DAIJOBU. Akihabara is also known for its maid cafes, and the street was lined with Maids inviting us in. Among them were these beautiful Humantaurs who were kindly inviting passersby to visit the PoniPoni Maido. We couldn't resist and enjoyed some omurice and juices blessed with the maids' love spell. We also spent some time at DONQUIJOTE, a multi-story store that has… everything. I think the store's jingle, which played on repeat, will stay stuck in my head for many months. ------------------------------------------------ Credit Card Balance PoniPoni Maido = ¥4.780 Animate = ¥12.600 Mandarake = ¥20.900 SuperPotato = ¥116.250 Other Stores = ¥25.600 Total = ¥180.130
