Hi, first just wanna say that I loved this video and signed up for y’all’s Patreon for it! I‘ve had very similar experiences to what you shared and especially resonated with what Nataly shared about the cycle of binging/shame/restriction. I wonder what y’all’s relationship with food is in the context of family: did you grow up in a household where you needed to eat every single thing on your plate? Did your family do take out often or were most meals home cooked? I feel like my relationship to food is so heavily influenced by my family and the environment I grew up eating in. Is it similar for you?

What do you think about weighing food? It seems like a lot of people have wildly varying ideas of what constitutes a serving. Especially when packaged foods have ridiculously impractical recommended serving sizes.

Simon Law

was there something you left out of the video and what was the reason for that?

This video hits me in a way as I went through my personal journey with food: being overfed (as that’s part of the culture), then moving countries, having to lose weight so as to avoid health issues, being criticized by family (see first point) and so on. Nowadays, similar to Melissa, the challenge is time and opportunity to have healthy meals for my family, on time, within budget, regardless of what such what guides say. As for my questions: 1. How is Sabrina and Taha’s relationship with food? 2. Specific to Melissa, how are you doing nowadays? What is your current food strategy? 3. From a prepping/eating perspective, what’s your perspective on eating the same thing for several meals or you gotta to eat different things? In a way, when I was single, I was OK eating the same thing mainly to save time cooking several meals. 4. A random thought regarding the food guide: it does not seem to account for cultural differences. In my case, as a Chinese person, a meal is rice plus side dishes (plus the fact that rice is the filler). With that said, how is the general diet on your end, for comparison purposes?

I think this is one of my favorite Melissa videos - what inspired this question and what was an interesting takeaway that you couldn’t include in the final cut?

Nice to see someone who is honest about Canadian History. It's something even people in Canada don't talk about and awareness of the history was so bad, that I remember that around 1-3 yrs ago, Canada tried to make history museums in Canada free to enter so more people are willing to learn about it. As for the video, I wondered if the cutouts made for the video were hand drawn or not?

I found the history of the canadian food guide really interesting. Since you talked about the amount of carbs quite a bit, I was wondering if you looked up or tried out the keto diet? I've heard it makes people feel more energized and have felt similar just from skipping the carbs for lunch from time to time, but I do wonder sometimes how healthy or unhealthy it actually is. I was also wondering if you were planning to share some recipes you've tried out in the video? (those noodles looked really good)

I really liked this video! I especially found interesting the history of the canadian food guide (and the graphical style of the timeline part) and the insightful conversation with nataly the dietician. I'm curious, now that the video is over, have you been able to maintain the consistent 3 meals a day since? how has sustaining yourself been now that you had some insight from Nataly? Also, could you share some nutritious but simple go-to recipes that you've found in this process?

Nice to see the guide evolve and include alternatives. Did you come across any mentions of how some of the popular diets work alter this guide? For eg a Keto diet focus on reducing carbs, that would completely invert this pyramid

Kam

good clickbait I was tricked into believing it would be about the food pyramid but it was about the Canadian food guide so is the newest pyramid false? (newest because they improve it every few years) In my country (Poland) the newest is from 2016. edit: you changed the name and photo and I must say it is better and more correct
