the public transit aftershow

the aftershow for this video: https://youtu.be/V3yXSD2O95E

sabrina, taha, and joe (round of applause) chat through the backwards production process for this video, the editing hell adobe premiere put us through, and the most cursed comment section we've ever seen.

did you notice the snow?

When I went to the UK on a trip, I was genuinely shocked how good the public transit was. And it only took me like two days for me to ask “why are we getting a cab?” when we got one. Because the train was either always there or about to be there! It was like freaking magic! Verses at home when I have to chase a bus that didn’t stop because the next one isn’t for another forty five minutes! (I am usually a car driver because of that. Though they’ve recently put in bike paths so I’m doing it a bit more since it the streets with bike paths feel pretty safe from road rage.)

So I was one of the YT people mentioning bikes, but I'd like to clarify: as a mortal human being, I fully sympathize with Sabrina's desire to live and having that as a reason to not bike through a North-American city. I only mused that it's interesting that something that's so obvious and ubiquitous for me (in the Netherlands) is such a complete non-starter in Canada that it's not even mentioned. I also completely forgot to consider that someone might not know how to ride a bike. I've ridden a bike almost every day since I was four, it just didn't occur to me that you can be an adult with functional legs and not know how to ride a bicycle. Finally: Taha's Mini Metro pro strats video when?

Round of applause for Joe. 👏👏👏

Taha, you weren’t wrong. Every household has at least one malm (sources: me and i said so)

I expect the different strategies for mini metro as well as the excel sheet comparing them, Taha

I admire the optimism that when you heard about the new premiere feature you thought it might work 😅 Premiere pro has been a giant pain for years. Sometimes it plays well, and other times it just drags. Not bad enough to give up on it, but only just usable.

And understood on the cycling front. I've had too many close calls here in Chicago that after we had kids, my wife and I made the decision that I stop commuting on two wheels to avoid injury or worse.

Dre

Yes! As I was sweltering in Chicago watching this video, it was so odd seeing you in winter gear. And then I thought "Canada". LOL
