Purifying slimes awarded +100 EXP, so corrupting them should theoretically award -100 EXP. Could even take this to the extreme like Rain did in the cave-in arc, with EXP going so negative that the paling shrinks and becomes more dense, rather than pops.

Much the same way as this process produces brine lakes in our world's oceans.

2021-12-19 22:21:08 +0000 UTCOk, there seems to have been a translation error. Whales and Leviathans are monsters here and apparently silver and gold level. And now that I'm thinking about it, it makes perfect sense. Essence density gets higher the deeper you go and while land-dwelling monsters are confined in biomes for the most part, in the ocean you just have to swim up. So silver or gold sea monsters could just come to the surface for a short time to wreck a ship and then dive back down to their preferred essence density before they leak too much. A large sea monster would also be a nightmare to fight against from a ship, especially when your ship isn't build to withstand silver or gold attacks. Now with that being said, there is a skill called Water Breathing according to Ameliah. There might be additional skills for underwater movement and combat, Hydro Evocation and Water Manipulation seem to be the magic trees. Now imagine a party of awakened specialized in underwater combat and delving, who go deep sea diving to find lairs and blues.

2021-12-19 16:00:36 +0000 UTCAscension is a chill place to hang out and level where everyone isn't a huge prick 24/7. Cuz these NPCs have been absolutely insufferable thus far. With the notable exception of that super nice and patient shopkeeper and his daughter from the beginning of the story. Hopefully they avoided the various tragedies, cullings, and general unrest going on. Ascension is currently headed to the Badlands to do some dungeon delving and avoid the Empire. Tallheart decided it was a good idea to leave evidence of his presence and direction of travel, which may have contributed to the current state of affairs in Three Cliffs.

What do they hope to accomplish in cities aside from leveling up and recruiting? These things were probably answered but it has been a while. I am excited to see the tier 4 skills. I would claim desertion but with how fanatical and disciplined they are, the chances of someone living (even if they got the idea) after acting on it is slim to none. Maybe if they happened to be one of a few survivors of a tough battle and slipping away in the chaos but besides that, not happening with an active and alert legion. Would be nice if they are able to find a lair (making elemental refinement a strong choice after glancing at the tier 4 trees of his chosen specializations) but that would be nice any time. Was this cagey (and kinda ungrateful) robbed person was probably attacked by looters and thieves native to this place instead of whomever did this. Probably not enough resources to make some steam ships or the like. Unless there is, in which case they need to secure the area and prepare for crafting. Also it seems “whales” are monsters in this world (silver rank most like and found in ocean) instead of aquatic mammals. Would it be much the same as our world’s whales (big) except stronger or would it also have magic and maybe they are bigger? Guess a leviathan would be a gold rank creature at least. In any case, them having sea advantage would probably help equalize some levels if the person/party wasn’t prepared
