One Chapter at a Time

FYI, free members, I've set up an option to buy recent posts individually, given my output is still so low right now. It's $5 for a chapter, so honestly a bad deal compared to the $2.50 subscription that gets you everything. It's there as an option, though, in case anyone wants the next chapter without the hassle and uncertainty.

Also, Patreon wants me to up the price of my tiers for new members. I say nay. Maybe if I get to the point of posting regularly again.

I've been excited to get to this chapter for a while, but biscuits, did it take longer to write than anticipated. Turns out it's quite tough to ensure all the nitty-gritty details are consistent with the last, oh, one million words or so. Doubly so when you write at the speed of a seriously lethargic snail and your notes are in what might best described as 'a state'.

I was going to do just one more editing pass, but then I caught myself. Perfect is the enemy of good...

Slow, but still going. Finding a new process that isn't entirely fueled by stress is proving to be a challenge.

Again took longer than expected, but this time it was because the chapter was being difficult. I had to write it twice, and it still came out on the shorter side. I wanted to add another scene to hit my word count target, but it just didn't fit, whether I'm speaking thematically or spatially. The more I worked on that scene, the more rushed/tacked-on it felt, and it quickly became clear it needed to be its own chapter. That's for next time. For now, process aside, I'm still a fan of how this ...

You might have noticed there’s no schedule listed for the next chapter release. Sorry about that, but it means what you think it means. Hiatus.

Had a lot of trouble with this one. The rewriting loop has started again, which is a good sign it's time for a break. Elevated chaos levels at the day-job aren't helping things.
