Pico-8 Tutorial Series Update!
Added 2018-08-29 01:57:21 +0000 UTCHello Patrons!
A quick update:
So far, I’ve written about half of the 10-part tutorial series. The plan is to finish writing them this week and start 'filming' them NEXT week. If everything goes to plan, the first tutorial will be available to Patrons mid next week.
I’ve slightly changed the tutorial topics. #7 is now a tutorial dedicated to analyzing some popular video games songs that are theoretically relevant to everything learned up to that point.
- Semitones (the chromatic scale)
- Tones (the whole-tone scale)
- Combining Tones and Semitones (the major scale)
- The Modes (chords)
- Meter
- Odd Meters and Compound Meters
- Analysis of Video Game Songs
- Composing using Modes (Pt. 1)
- Composing using Modes (Pt. 2)
- Composing using Modes (Pt. 3)
In other news, some of you may remember that I was having problems with my ISP earlier this year that prevented me from streaming. I’ve since changed my ISP and everything seems to be working smoothly.
It would be GREAT to get back into streaming again. I find it’s a great way to get to know you better, but also an opportunity to answer music related questions. So, keep your eye out for it!
On a related note, I’m seriously considering putting microphones and cameras on my piano. I’ve been focusing mostly on chiptunes and electronic music over the last 5 years, and I think I’m ready to bring the piano back into my regular practice routine. We’ll see!
