Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered

"Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" is a classic American standard from the musical Pal Joey (1940), with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Lorenz Hart. The song is performed by the character Vera Simpson, a wealthy but lonely woman who falls for the show's protagonist, Joey Evans. Known for its sophisticated lyrics and complex emotional depth, the song captures the turmoil of unrequited love with a mix of humor and melancholy. Over the years, it has been covered by numerous artists, including Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and Barbra Streisand, solidifying its place in the Great American Songbook.

This fingerstyle cover of this beautiful ballad draws inspiration from Ella Fitzgerald's rendition. I kept the original key of F major but used a capo on the 3rd fret, which shifts the fingerings to D major. To enhance the dreamy vibe, I layered in a lo-fi piano, weaving it seamlessly with the guitar melody.
