i just called to say i love you :)

hello kg records fam!

first of all, thank you again again again for your patience while jesse, aya, and i find our rhythm!  we feel as though we are slowly solidifying back into whole humans after completely dissolving into this new little being these last months. 

this photo was taken from my first day back in the studio. after basically living in this room for the last many months prior to aya's birth as i finished up the album, it felt so strange and surreal to be back there. it's been less than three months, and still it felt entirely foreign. like i've been inhabiting a completely different reality where things like microphones and headphones couldn't possibly exist. but it felt so good to be back there, and even better to have a warm little lump snuggled into me while i worked. to be completely transparent--i've only been back in the studio a few times since she was born--don't get TOO impressed 😂but still, to me, i'm like, hot damn! you go girl! i knew having a baby was an all-encompassing thing, but i'm still discovering new levels of just how deep that goes. 

my goal is still to attempt at least a BABY step towards reconnecting to music next month, and for me that starts here with you all. i don't have a date yet, but let's count on a february coffee date hangout! don't expect me to be able to wax poetic about my experience just yet though--my brain is still barely able to grasp what is happening!

in other news, i have a cover for you! last year i got a text out of nowhere from scott hoying of pentatonix telling me i should cover this song, and when scott requests a song--you do it!! albeit nearly a year late 😂scott is one of the sweetest and most talented people ever so it meant so much to me that he thought of me when he heard the song. it's out in all the usual places, but you can also just download the mp3 right here from this post :)
