34 Bonus - May 2023 - Fingerstyle Booster 9
Added 2023-05-29 11:30:26 +0000 UTCHere is an interesting and useful arpeggio tool/device.
The idea here is to play four strings like a chord, but not entirely at the same time, but almost at the same time. The last tone in a row should fall on a beat, and the three notes played before it are very fast.
For this exercise, I have prepared three combinations of 4 notes for the right hand:
- a, m, i, p (arpeggio going upwards from high strings to low)
- p, i, m, a (arpeggio going downwards from low strings to high)
- m, i, p, a (combination)
You can also try different speeds when approaching the last note:
- Slow (eighth-note triplets)
- Medium (sixteenth-note triplets)
- Fast (thirty-second notes)
In the first exercise, only the a, m, i, p combination is used. It involves regular chords E, A, and B7, creating a traditional sound and mood.
The second exercise has a more modern sound, using chords Asus4 and C9 11. After an initial eighth note, you will have these combinations one after the other:
- p, i, m, a
- m, i, p, a
- m, i, p, a
- a, m, i, p
I have provided audio examples for these exercises at a faster tempo, but I recommend starting very slow at first, dedicating enough time to each combination. Additionally, you can creatively use these ideas for your own set of chords.
