Sidney Bechet - Si tu vois ma mère

Sidney Bechet was widely regarded as one of the greatest clarinet players of all time. One of his most famous compositions is "Si tu vois ma mère", a hauntingly beautiful song that captures the essence of New Orleans jazz. Bechet's signature style is on full display in this piece, with his soulful clarinet solos weaving in and out of the melody.

"Si tu vois ma mère" was also used in the 2011 movie "Midnight in Paris" directed by Woody Allen. The song was played during a scene where the protagonist, played by Owen Wilson, travels back in time to 1920s Paris and visits a jazz club where Sidney Bechet is performing. The song captures the atmosphere of the time period and adds to the film's nostalgic and romantic mood.

The song follows a 32-bar form that consists of two distinct 16-bar A sections. As I didn't use a standard backing track with drums and bass for this cover, I included an additional section where I played out the chords. Furthermore, I transposed the song from its original key of B-flat major to A major, which offers a clearer understanding of the chord progression and how to accompany the melody.

In this cover I played the Hofner Model 457 Archtop Guitar, a vintage instrument that was produced in the 1950s by Hofner, a German guitar manufacturer.

I know the movie and the song. I came to see what guitar you were playing thanks for including that into your description. Funny enough I’m looking for a Gypsy jazz guitar to also purchase. I enjoyed the piece very much.
