New Song: "Love Anyway" (Happy Release Day!!)

Release days will always be colored slightly with dread and anxiety and insecurity, but the undercurrent of joy that a little song that found its way to me now gets to stretch its wings and find its way into the world and into your hands will always win out over those other feelings in the end :)
One of my favorite moments so far today was when I looked up the song on Spotify and saw the little "© ℗ KG Records 2020" at the bottom of the page and was flooded with immense gratitude and love for you all. There are no humans--no record label--I'd rather have behind my music than all of you. Thank you for supporting this music and continuing to allow it, AND me, to be exactly whatever it is/I am. I will never take that gift lightly.
One afternoon when I was feeling particularly overwhelmed by the state of the world, "Love Anyway" came and tapped me on the shoulder as if to wake me up: "Hey Kina--choose love." A hundred times a day I am pulled to sadness/fear/unworthiness/anger, and in those moments it feels nearly impossible to come back to love and hope and gratitude, but every now and then, by some miracle, I can feel how there is space for all of it--that maybe it's less about rejecting the heavier things, but managing to meet those things with love, too.

Then I listened to Jesse’s new song, To Live is To Die, and I felt whole again. So I put them in a playlist together and listened to them over and over again...pun not intended. These two songs remind me of a broken heart shaped necklace that my daughter and her best friend share. Together they are whole and apart they are wanting reminders. “How do we get, how do we get to the other side of it...” “Forgiveness is the heart of truth...” “All of one heartbeat different names...” I miss you, I mean it, I’m sorry I was wrong...” “If we can make it through the gray, maybe we’ll find a better way...” “you’ll get there, the good things take time...” “if we love love love love love anyway.” I wonder if you two knew that you were writing two halves of the same heart?
