Look What You've Done! (Year End Recap)

What a year 2018 has been! Looking back over the last year, I am utterly overwhelmed by all the things that were made possible because of you. I made a list of all these things so I could really feel it all--feel the ups and downs and feel those big moments and most importantly feel how this is not at all a list of things I accomplished, but a list of things WE accomplished, and then feel how incredible and amazing that is!
Without further ado, here is a list of the many things YOU made possible this year.
Because of you, this happened:
- 1 album release! This is by far the thing I am most proud of this last year and most grateful to you all for helping me complete. This was the first album I produced and mixed entirely on my own (thanks to you!) and it was such an incredible experience. Getting to release this album through our label, KG Records, means more to me than I could ever express.
- 19 video releases! 9 official music videos, 8 covers, and 2 live videos! These videos allowed me to dive deeper into my songs, take meaningful road trips, meet a giant desert tortoise and a beautiful dove and a baby raccoon, and share my songs with more people around the world.
- 34 concerts in 10 countries! It had been over 3 years since my last tour, and let us not forget my last one ended prematurely with my band and I trapped in Indonesia facing 5 years in jail! Not only was KG Records the SOLE sponsor of this tour, helping me to cover all the mega costs of making it happen, but you all helped me get there emotionally, as well. For a handful of reasons, I had a lot of reservations and fears about touring again, and so many of you helped me through these emotions in our monthly Coffee Date hangouts. Getting back on the road, sharing these songs, and getting to share space with so many like-minded humans all around the world was meaningful in ways I could not have even anticipated.
- 4 online concerts! THESE WERE SO FUN! These pumped me full of energy and love and they really fueled me to keep going throughout the year. Thanks for allowing me this joy :)
- 5 new songs! I didn't intend to write any new songs this year, but because of the space you all have allowed me in my life, they came anyway! Two of them you have already met (History and Enough), two of them you've maybe heard me talk about (Take Your Time and Quiet), and one was born THREE NIGHTS AGO AND YOU ARE THE FIRST TO KNOW! That one is called "Too Much".
So, basically, you all are the best ever. Thank you all for allowing 2018 to be such a special year for me. Thanks for keeping me company and inspiring me and cheering me on. You all are family to me. Except even more than that... because you're family that single-handedly allows me to keep doing what I love. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I am so looking forward to what 2019 brings! I am hoping to shift into doing more writing this year, and I'm so excited to let you all in on that too :)

Also spent spent xmas eve watching "Crazy" and saw your performance there. Please be well and also Jesse and know you're impacting our lives in amazing and inspirational ways.

From your sharings in the Coffee Date hangouts, I realise that stepping out and touring was not an easy emotional and practical thing to do - so I honour your courage in letting your feet follow your heart, inspite of reservations. I deeply value being part of this KG Records Family Community, connecting with heartfelt Kinerds from all over the world, as we support your ongoing musical creativity and presence in the world! There is a saying: "You can tell much about a person by the company they keep." I think it goes all they way back to Aesop or Plinius. And it is especially apropos here. Kina, you've gathered an awesome group around you, a group I'd want to be part of even if they weren't backing a singer-songwriter. This group has shared things with you that I had to read twice, because I needed them too. Perhaps some of the advice is universal, or even generic, but I didn't "get it" until I heard it here. A big part of it is perspective, looking at things differently, but without fear, in a place of safety. And love. There is literally nothing on my Christmas wish-list. I am already rich with gifts. Thank you all!
