09 Bonus - April 2021 - Billie Jean (Michael Jackson)
Added 2021-04-21 14:53:09 +0000 UTCI have found Michael Jackson's song "Billie Jean" to be good material for a challenging fingerstyle exercise.
What I did here was to merge playing the bass line and the chords at the same time. Since the song is in the key of F#m this is a great opportunity for bar chord practice . There are also a lot of finger stretches along with the bar chords. All this makes it a very useful exercise to build strength in your left hand.
I have made four versions of this exercise. Exercises no.1 and no.2 are without capo and they are very similar except for the voicings of the F#m chord. Although exercise no.2 has the original voicings from the song, I actually prefer exercise no.1 - I'll upload a sample of it so you can hear how it sounds. Exercises no.3 and no.4 are the same as the previous ones but with the capo on the second fret for those days when we are feeling lazy and don't want to be bothered with bar chords and finger stretches.
