New Video: Blowin' In The Wind (Bob Dylan Cover)

Hello everyone! Happy Friday! (Or Saturday, depending on which corner of our world you live on.)

Here's my cover of Bob Dylan's "Blowin' In The Wind." I really loved singing this one. There's something very special about covering a song, if you really give yourself to the process, where you feel like you get to embody it and know it on a more personal level, as if part of it came through you. I didn't know this song well before I dove into it, but what a beautiful and powerful little song I have come to realize it is. Those lyrics, man. Oof.

I am kind of in disbelief that October has come and gone in the blink of an eye! For me, this month has been about growth (challenging myself to do scary things like hip hop and big social events), learning (reading a gazillion books from topics like trees to consciousness to nutrition) and self-care (therapy, meditation, exercise, feeding myself good foods). I'm learning how important it is to make sure I am happy and whole and okay in order to really be able to be there for the people I love and really give myself to my work.

Oh speaking of which, I know I'd mentioned earlier this month I was hoping to release the 4th original off the new album this month, but the timing began to feel a little rushed and it's really important to me to give these songs proper time and care. So I'm giving that one a little room to breathe and planning on releasing it next month :)

How're you all doing out there? What has October been about for you? Any lessons learned? Challenges faced?

Thanks for being part of this journey with me <3

Thank you for this video. Great video. Very nice quiet music. I want to join your group KG. Thank you for your support and respect

I love this Kina!! I also love the slight wind in the air that added to the song ;) sure love following you!

Kina looks like a pixie so cute😊

Kina, you inspired me to do several things this month! 1) I made a video response to your song Issues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6bgJ1YzkGw. It touched me so much hearing your cover of Issues! I hadn't really listened to the lyrics before, but once I did, I couldn't get it out of my head. 2) I decided to finally learn to play the guitar so I can play my own cover of Issues! Me learning my first 5 guitar chords: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0zX-Th02DQ. And finally, 3) I launched my own Patreon site!! https://www.patreon.com/journeywithjenney. Thanks always for being an inspiration! :D

wow bob, thank you for sharing this powerful and emotional story! had both some goosebumps and some tears reading it. what a powerful thing music is <3

thanks joe!!

I love this song. I'm old enough to have protested the Vietnam war, starting in junior high school. This song told me how important it is to ask questions and seek answers, rather than just say what others say. Love the soldier, hate the war. I joined the military in early 1975, as Vietnam was winding down. This was also when the draft ended and the US military shifted to become the all-volunteer force it remains to this day. I believe our country had turned in the right direction, and I wanted to support that choice with my service. When I joined, the military still had thousands of active Vietnam vets finishing their enlistments, and many of them were badly damaged, walking wounded. One evening, after a few beers, I was sitting behind a bar with a vet as he was singing this song through endless tears. I was hugging him, and we were rocking back and forth, him singing lead, and me trying to float the harmony. He made it through that night. This song always gives me goosebumps. It did when I was in junior high school. It did when I was in the military. And it still does today. And I love THIS VERSION! When I heard the harmony kick in, I could only think how much I'd love you to do this song with your sisters. They're undoubtedly busy with their own lives, so it may be hard getting all of you in front of the same mic at the same time, but perhaps each could record a harmony, then combine them as a video.

Guitar and vocals are perf melody for this 👌🏼 The lyrics are profound as well, just an excellent combo <33 October has been hectic for me, work and personal so I can relate to you moving the release up... Had to do with a few projects i'm on too haha XP

😭 thanks for all the kind words. so glad you enjoyed it!

ah see you on sunday! and i'm so glad i didn't ruin the song for you! haha. i really do love old school chatting at the end, i think i may do a lot more of that. i did love doing shoutouts too, the only trouble was how time consuming they were, and i'm still trying to find the right way to manage the current work load! maybe once i've got a better handle on things i can bring them back someday :)

Wow! Thank you so much Wonderful Kina! I loved you take on this beautiful classic. And the chat after.... had a very rough day, but your smile, your excitement, and your enthusiasm Always puts a bounce in my step. Thanks for being you :)

Hi, just a brief note to say that (having been around since 2010) I love the ‘old-fashioned’ way of doing things! May I request that you do the old-fashioned way of shoutouts once in a while (or is that impossible by Patreon rules or by self-imposed rules?). I always loved reading shoutouts even if it was people I knew nothing about – it was always heart-warming. But most of all I loved the shoutouts I got from you, usually most unexpectedly! As for Blowin’ in the Wind, this is an all-time favourite of mine. And you got the line How many ears must óne man have perfectly right – most people miss the fact that Dylan does this line slightly different from the rest. Anyway, I am happy to have heard this on a late October Friday evening, with storms raging outside – and see you on Sunday evening!
