What shall we call ourselves?! (Cast Your Vote!)

It's time!

I am excited to announce that I come bearing the Top 3 candidates for our record label name! I had so much fun reading through all of your ideas on our forum and I want to thank those of you who chimed in for taking the time and effort to put some thought into this. There were so many amazing ideas. SO. MANY. After reading through everyone's input, three names seemed to rise to the top.

I've written a blurb below for each name, summarizing why people were drawn to each one and explaining its relevance to my story. Take a minute with each name, and when you feel confident in your decision, follow the link at the bottom of this post and cast your vote!

KG Records

Simple. Clean. A call back to my early years of YouTube when I had two homemade logos at the beginning of each video, a hand-drawn KG and a little character we've come to know as Guitar Girl. While Guitar Girl was a close runner up, KG honors the beginning of my journey while also being more timeless and gender-neutral. It has become a nickname for me within our community, and it represents all things KG--Kination, Kinerds, and (obviously) me, Kina. (p.s. I looked into some of your concerns regarding this name being used elsewhere on the internet, and for our purposes, it would not be a problem!)

Kotori Records

Means "baby bird" in Japanese. There were actually several popular bird-related suggestions, but this seemed to be the one that best encapsulated all of them. Birds have been a reoccurring and significant presence in my life--from "Oh The Hummingbird"--a song I wrote when I was 5, to Clancy, Fox, and Edward, the three baby birds that found their way into my life and all had a huge impact on me. They taught me about love and loss and joy and grief (which just so happen to be things I love to sing about).

Teeny Tiny Records

A call back to the Teeny Tiny Tour (my first tour ever 8 years ago), as well as the very silly song (Teeny Tiny) that came with it. Represents the shift from looking to big companies and record labels for support, to realizing all I needed was all of you. (Which turns out is not such a tiny thing after all!) Symbolizes independence as well as the intimacy we have within our little community.
