Rewards...
Added 2016-08-31 05:56:05 +0000 UTCHi friends!
Now that I'm getting back in the swing of things and starting to make videos again, I'm feeling like it's time I dust off my Patreon page and show it a little love. I want to tidy things up, get organized, start delivering more reliably for you guys, and also restructure the rewards a bit. I have a few ideas of my own, but I'd love to know from YOU--what would you want?? Think small or thing huge, but if there's a reward you would love to see on my page, something that seems fun or would excite you or make you feel like I was giving you a big hug every time your pledge went through, I want to know what that is! It's a fine balancing act between finding rewards that 1. really truly show you my gratitude and make you feel appreciated and 2. still allow me the time and space to be creating things for you all and not get overwhelmed (because that's when I start dropping the ball, not delivering, and hating my guts because I feel like I'm taking advantage of you). I want to make the Patron experience fun and worthwhile for you all.
Let me know any ideas you might have in the comments below. If you'd rather be more private about it, you can send me a message on Patreon! Thanks so much, everyone :)

How about a pen pal tier? Nothing too lengthy where it becomes onerous but just something fun and creative?
2016-10-10 05:03:06 +0000 UTCSome of us probably play instruments. How about "Kina's Patreon Backup Band and Chorus"? Lots of mixing/editing work, but maybe we could help with that too. I always wanted to join a band...

2016-09-05 08:42:29 +0000 UTC"Borrowing" from a couple of other suggestions, how about a one-on-one 15 minute Skype monthly, done by raffle so that every one of your Patreon supporters has an equal chance?
2016-09-03 15:42:17 +0000 UTCBut by all means, keep increasing the rewards. People probably are really hating me right now lol.
2016-09-02 05:30:26 +0000 UTCHmmm... I guess I must sound like a broken record, huh? I just greatly appreciate your style and abilities. As for you feeling like you owe us anything, the only thing that you owe to us is that you keep doing what you love and what make's you happy.
2016-09-02 05:28:50 +0000 UTCmy mind has been pretty much in a fog lately, so I'll probably let your other patrons make reward suggestions. I'm sure they'll come up with better ideas than I would anyway because, well, quite frankly, I'm really not that good at this. I'm kind of uncomfortable suggesting rewards that I could potentially receive, because I just don't feel like I have the right to tell you how to reward me. my main impetus for being one of your patrons isn't for rewards, anyway. like Tarmo and Adam, my great joy in being a patron is in having a way to continually help you and support you in repayment for allowing me to be a part of your journey for the past 7 years. for years I wanted to be able to do more for you than what I was able to do by just being a fan who lived far away from you and would only see you occasionally. when you started your Patreon account, it was like a dream come true for me. but I think it's fine if other patrons want to make suggestions. I just can't bring myself to do it, out of fear that it might look like I suggested a certain reward just so that I would receive something "cool", although I know that people wouldn't think that, but I still feel funny about it. hope you get some great suggestions β€οΈ Jim
2016-09-01 06:12:55 +0000 UTCIn the old days (pre-Patreon) a shout out or happy birthday message was so cool at the tail end of your videos. Now that is reserved for higher level Patrons only, which is a GREAT way to show support for those folks that are able to manage it month in and month out. But for folks that are not able to swing that financial commitment....a raffle or drawing or one-off pledge to be able to have that chance for an-end-of-video shout out would be really great. But I have to say I mostly agree with Eric and Tarmo- the reward of you being able to create full time and you are able to get the music and other projects out to your audience faster and easier is plenty reward in itself
2016-08-31 21:58:15 +0000 UTCthank you so much, oscar!
2016-08-31 20:29:40 +0000 UTCthough you have always said this, and have been so constantly supportive and generous, i can't help but feel like i owe more in return!! but truly this means the world to me, to have people out there in the world that simply want to help, and i can't thank you enough for that.
2016-08-31 20:29:25 +0000 UTCmr jack!! i saw that, and i love her levels! definitely will check out again for inspiration :) so stoked about her album, too!
2016-08-31 20:27:26 +0000 UTCWell, since you asked, here goes... You're talking to a bunch of folks here who like your music and want to help you keep making it. Us giving you money is great, and you offering your time for non-music things is great, but I'd like to keep it all about the music. So, how about you write a sing-along song, send out melody and harmony lines to Patreon backers, and let *us* be your backup singers! That's it: "Kina's Patreon Chorus"! Sure, some of us can't carry a tune even with a bucket, which is why mixers have a low setting. And maybe there's some real talent among us who could carry a verse. Who knows? Let's make music!

2016-08-31 18:00:26 +0000 UTCHi Kina. "I love you just the way you are" ( Billy Joel ) Just be yourself and enjoy doing your music and videos. I love each one of them π I'm proud to be one of your patreons and I will always be. Thanks for sharing part of yourself with all of us.
2016-08-31 17:20:39 +0000 UTCI understand that not everyone feel's this way, and quite possibly nobody else does, but I'd like to think that I'm not the only person that pledges not for the rewards, but for you, Kina. To show the appreciation and love that we have for you, and to make it as easy as possible for you to continue making beautiful music and top-quality videos. A thank you, of sorts, for being the wonderful person that you are... Not very many people have turned down a contract with a music label so they could keep their music honest and from the heart.
2016-08-31 17:00:41 +0000 UTCHey Kina! Nataly just went through a rewards revamp. If you want more ideas, she's got a bunch. Excited to be getting more songs and videos! woohoo!

2016-08-31 16:55:41 +0000 UTCThe reward is you more easily being a full time musician. Everything else is a gift: very much appreciated, but never demanded. Since you are offering, a gift I think would be fun is behind the scenes of everything (except songwriting because we know that's off limits). What does making a video look like from your perspective? Giving an interview? Planning a tour? Your profession is quite interesting, as are you! And it would be things you were doing anyway, it would just be recorded for an extremely sympathetic audience. π
