100 Days In Jakarta

Last September, my band and I left for Jakarta, Indonesia to embark on a tour throughout Southeast Asia. We played exactly 1 show, and then spent the next 99 days fighting to come home. Head to

to read my story.

Above is my song "California," one of two songs I wrote during this time that served to turn some of my pain into something positive. I found a lot of comfort in them.

Much love as always to my Patreon family. Thanks for your patience and support. <3

100 Days In Jakarta

Before you guys came back, I already read articles that insinuated what happend... Reading the story made me cry. I now understand why you were not able to go public, but be sure, me & probably lots of other kinerds would've helped (money lovely words, whatever you needed...). I'm glad you all are happy again. And as I could read, you learned for life! Lots of respect and love for telling your story. <3 It already hurt to READ it, but seeing you cry while telling about the events at your Jakarta StageIt show showed even more what you, Jesse, Darla, Jon and Chris needed to go through. Be proud to be such a good team and friends!

I just read your article about being trapped - wow! With plans to travel and produce my films I need to be extra vigilant to get paper work sorted. It is all so confusing. As a "YouTuber" I am never paid by the people I film with, but saying it isn't a "Business trip" feels dishonest to me, so I always do... Thanks for sharing your story - hopefully it will help other artists traveling that are trying to make a living while creating.

Thank you for the lessons, and for coming through it all with the grace and beauty of 'California'. It reminds me of a Feist album that was a good companion through a hard time.

Oh my goodness Kina. That sounds truly terrible. I'm glad you're back home now, and able to confront this. Stay strong. We're here in your corner.

Gigging musicians just want to give people a great night out: sad that all this happened, glad that everyone is safe and sound!

thank you so much! this is so inspiring! I am so proud of you and the band for showing incredible courage and fortitude in the midst of such a terrible situation! love you always! ❤️❤️❤️

Somehow you've been "arrested" for 100 days since you couldn't go back home. Those 100 days are gone. You can't have them back, but neither the happy ones... So you must keep the lessons learned and focus on present! Thank you for sharing your story and for making good things (songs) with the bad experience!

Forever amazed by your strength and grace. Thank you for sharing your story, there is a lot we can all learn from your experience. So happy to see you getting back on track, take your time and remember that healing is a gradual thing.

Hugs. Super sadface reading that, but welcome home again. What does the 8 month probation entail?

You're amazing <3

21. Appreciate every second with the people you love because you never know when or how they could be taken from you. Wisdom. What an ordeal Kina. So glad you all are safe.

I've been very pleasantly surprised with how quickly the pain from listening has subsided, only about twenty times through and there was a dull ache instead and a small happiness. It would appear that even stronger than the crushing power of your story is your power of creation, uplifting and beautiful. I don't want to jinx it by talking about it anymore. I'll just say that even in your music I haven't had this reaction to a song since This Far, and I'm astonished and profoundly grateful.
