Mist's Jumps Part 43

Mist stepped out of the door in thin air onto the bridge of the alien ship. “Greetings, I’d like to discuss your race’s expansionist tendencies…” he trailed off as several of the creepy looking humanoid bugs opened fire with some type of energy weapon. He snapped his fingers and teleported their weapons through the door then let it close behind him. He was a bit annoyed that it had taken him as long as it had to finally socket a clairvoyance effect and go looking for the crisis event but he’d gotten busy with school and hanging out with everyone and had kept putting things off. The only reason he was dealing with it now was that he had a week off before his final tests and he didn’t want to chance the school getting destroyed before he graduated. “You’re on a direct course for Earth, you will turn around or you will be destroyed.”

The insect captain said, “We will devour your world and your people’s hopes and dreams.”

“In other words, no chance of peace?” Mist asked even though he’d already seen the result of letting the giant ships get anywhere near Earth. He reached up and grabbed the alien bug that charged him by the neck. “I’m giving you one last chance to leave.”

“Eat his mind!”

Mist ignored the frantic scratching at the edge of his mental shields as he crushed the alien’s throat then dropped the lifeless alien.

The aliens stared in shock at the ‘alien’ that had casually murdered his officer. “You killed him!”

“I’m not a hero, you’re coming to enslave my world and people with your mental abilities, why would I play nice?” He stomped on the alien’s head reducing it to paste and greenish goo.

On of the other aliens screeched, “Fiend! You killed him! A hundred and fifty years of memories gone because you can’t see the glory of what we are, your memories would have lived on in us forever.”

Mist smiled as he swapped one of his cosmic slots to an overload boost for his technopathy. “Just know that you brought this upon yourself.”

One of the other aliens said, “We have millions of ships, you’ll never stop us all. We will glass your planet for this.”

“You’re going to glass a planet because I defended myself?” Mist asked with a touch of amusement as he waited for his new power to fully charge.

“Only Ratori lives matter.”

“Yeah, best of luck with that. You’re heading toward a world of gods.”

The captain answered smugly, “They can’t kill us all before we consume your world.”

Mist hated that the alien was right, they’d put up a tremendous fight and evacuate a decent section of the population but the bugs would eventually ‘nuke’ the planet until the humans died or were forced to flee. It hadn’t been a happy vision. He boosted his technopathy then reached out and commanded all of the computers in the alien fleet to shut down their stardrives then vent the air on the various ships. “In that case, die.” He changed all of the passwords and locked the various computers so they couldn’t save themselves.

The captain’s screamed as alarms started blaring. “What did you do?”

“I had the computers drop the fleet out of FTL then vent the atmosphere so all of your people will die painfully.”

“You can’t do that!” one of the bugs shouted in disbelief.

“Why? You were planning on exterminating my world, I’m going to return the favor. Not only that but I’m going to find the rest of your race and kill them all, they’re a blight.”

The captain snarled as he collapsed to his knees as the air got thin enough that he felt faint. “You’ll never find them all.”

“Even if I can’t find them all, you’ll still die and no one will claim your memories.” Mist gestured and cast soul trap on the alien captain then stepped forward and kicked its head off. He ignored the various aliens gasping for breath and dying as he focused on the computer. ‘I should probably leave a duplicate to scan their ships and computer systems before I drop the ships off in Sol for the Earth defense force to cannibalize.’ He used his copy of Tara’s duplication power and created a duplicate of himself then opened a door back to the moon and stepped through. He let the door close behind him then orbed back to campus in front of the dorm.

Raven looked up as Mist walked into the dorm. “Any luck with your project?”

Mist smiled at the cute grey skinned witch sprawled out on the couch with one of her magic books. “About as well as can be expected I guess.” He wasn’t all that happy killing billions of ‘nominally’ intelligent alien insects but they wouldn’t have backed down without a rather nasty war and even then, they’d have just come back after they built up their population again. “You?”

“I finished all of my reports, I’m just waiting for my first test Monday which shouldn’t be all that bad considering our photographic memories.”

“Have you figured out if you’re going to come with us?” Mist asked hoping that Raven would join them on their adventures.

Raven smiled as Mist sat down on the couch across from her. “Someone needs to keep Starfire and Mione out of trouble and save Kara from Dawn.”

“Last I heard, they were just having fun flirting.” He was rather proud of Kara for sticking to her morals considering how cute Dawn was.

“I have it on fairly good authority that Kara is planning on jumping Dawn as soon as she isn’t her student.”

“Can’t say I blame her.” Mist opened his gacha menu and looked at his choices then selected the most expensive option he had.

Raven twitched slightly as a massive pulse of magic flowed out of Mist’s hands and collected into the form of scepter. “What does that do?”

“No idea.” Mist smiled as he checked his identification ability. “It’s a rod of blasting. Do you want it?”

Raven raised an eyebrow. “What’s wrong with it?”

“Nothing, I have dozens of blasting rods, thousands of potions, elixirs and various common crap.”

“In that case, sure.” Raven accepted the rod. “If you’re not interested in blasting rods what are you looking for?”

“Something good, like an item that enhances people or gives permanent alternate forms like the dragon elixir we have.”

“You have a dragon elixir?” Raven asked in disbelief.

“Technically it gives you the ability to change into a drake but it’s close enough and I can upgrade the ability so that you can change into a dragon. I picked it up in a Warcraft world.”

“That sounds interesting.”

“As soon as we’re done with finals, we’ll take some time and upgrade anyone that jumps with us.”

Raven laughed. “I see how it is.”

“I can’t share all of my tricks to start with can I?” Mist asked with amusement as he selected another gocha and hit accept.

“I guess not. Any idea where you’re going next?” Raven blinked as a black long sleeved shirt appeared in his hand.

“Probably a version of Eris and Mione’s world.” He checked the shirt with his identification ability. “Neat, it can change color and form via mental commands.”

Raven raised her eyebrows. “Neat? A blasting rod that can take out buildings gets a meh and a shape changing shirt gets a neat?”

“I can duplicate the shirt then add the magic to our gear. The rod doesn’t really give me any new abilities. Besides, I have other rods of blasting.”

“In that case, thanks.” Raven smiled as she set the blasting rod on the floor next to her stack of books. “So what are you going to do with your last week in the academy?”

“Send my clones out to scan things, work on grabbing more magical items with my gocha ability and relaxing when I’m not hanging out or studying.”

“In other words, nothing new?”

“Pretty much, the jump has been nice and boring.” Mist was just glad he’d headed off the alien invasion before it became a problem. He was looking forward to looking over all of the schematics.

“In that case, can I talk you into giving me a foot massage?” Raven asked hopefully.

“Sure,” Mist agreed with amusement.

Dawn glanced around the dorm. “I’m going to miss this place.”

Kara blushed slightly as she glanced over at where a half dressed Raven was kissing one of Dawn’s friends from home. “I can see why.”

Mist smiled as he patted Dawn’s behind. “We could always steal the dorm right before we leave.”

Kara shook her head. “That wouldn’t be nice. Besides, I’m fairly sure that would count as grand theft of school property, something I’d have to try to prevent.”

“Besides, it wouldn’t be the same,” Dawn admitted as she glanced over at where Willow and Tara were sitting on the couch kissing.

“I guess you’re right, at least it was a fun six months.” Mist smiled as he thought about all of the stories he’d have for his college friends when he got back home.

Mione asked as she came down the stairs with her trunk. “When are you going to open a portal so we can stash our stuff?”

Mist gestured and opened a warehouse portal in the middle of the lobby. “No time like the present.”

“Thanks, I’m just glad I don’t have to go back home.”

“Too many bad memories?”

“Not to mention Death Eaters that escaped with slaps on their wrists and purebloods that might as well be Death Eaters. If they wanted to save their rotten culture they should have had a class about it in first year or maybe third but no, they expect everyone to learn about their culture even though they’re unwilling to learn about the rest of the world.”

Eris walked down the stairs. “As much as I’d like to stab all of the self righteous sheep that expected me to solve their problems, I’m just happy I don’t have to go back.”

“What about your vault?” Mione asked.

Eris winced. “The goblins stole everything because we had to grab the cup.”

Mione stared in shock at Eris. “Why didn’t you say anything?”

“I had other things to worry about and I still have a couple of bags of gold in my trunk.”

Mist cut in before Mione could build up steam, “I’ll have a chat with the goblins, I’m sure we can come to some reasonable agreement.” He figured worse case, he’d walk in and kill them all. He doubted he’d have to kill more than a couple of dozen before they decided that the gold wasn’t worth their lives.

“I’m not sure it will help but I’d like my family heirlooms back if nothing else.”

Mione pulled Eris into a hug. “We’ll figure something out.”

Mist said, “Don’t worry, I can speak goblin, I’ll just explain things in a way they understand.”

Kara raised an eyebrow. “How is that?”

“I can turn things into gold, their economy is based on gold being valuable. It doubt it would take more than an afternoon to ruin them. Either that or I can buy their bank out from under them.”

Mione shook her head. “I’m fairly sure they have magical contracts that would screw them over if they sold the bank.”

“I’m sure they do, that doesn’t change the fact that I have a magical ability that allows me to buy real estate and have people sell it if I offer one and a half times the value of the property.” He wasn’t sure it would work if the cost was ‘priceless’ because of the contracts but it might.

“Couldn’t happen to a nicer group of ‘people’,” Eris muttered. She knew it wasn’t nice but they’d stolen everything her family had left her, she was done being nice.

“I doubt it will come to that, I’m sure I can convince the goblins to be reasonable with the threat of legal action.” Mist was fairly sure it would take a decent amount of violence before the goblins gave up Eris’s stolen gold but he didn’t really have a problem with killing goblins. He glanced at the clock. “Hmm, are you up for talking to the goblins while Mione gets the dorm packed up?”

“Might as well.” Eris had a feeling they weren’t going to want Mione around for the ‘discussion’ with the goblins. “If talking to them doesn’t work she can help us look for a legal method to get my stuff back.”

“I’d need access to a library but that shouldn’t be too had. Wizards are stupid but they can’t be stupid enough to trust the goblins without something to keep them honest, right?” Mione was really hoping there was something they could use.

“We can hope,” Kara added.

“Don’t worry, we’ll figure something out,” Mist assured Mione as he opened a door to Diagon Alley. “If we’re not back by dinner, send a rescue party.” He created a duplicate of himself to watch the warehouse door then stepped through the portal.

Eris stepped through the door to Diagon Alley and glanced around at the various wizards and witches looking at them in surprise. “Great, no place like home.”

Mist let the door close behind Eris before Mione decided that she had to come along. “Are you okay with killing the goblins for your stuff?”

“Yes, I could forgive the gold but my family heirlooms are all I have left of my family.”

“That makes things easier.” Mist smiled grimly as he stalked up the steps and into the bank.

Eris was just glad that Mist had shared a bunch of abilities which meant that the goblins weren’t much of a threat because she was banned from walking into Gringotts. She frowned as a rather loud alarm sounded as she stepped into the bank. “Fun.”

Mist glanced back as large shutters slammed down over the entrance. He looked at the goblin guards that were rushing toward them with their weapons drawn. “Put your weapons away, we’re here to see the director.”

One of the goblins snarled out, “You don’t give orders here human.”

“Okay,” Mist summoned his blade then blurred through the group of five goblins cutting them into pieces. He slowed back to a normal speed as he started walking toward the nearest clerk’s desk. “Right, so who can tell me where the director’s office is?”

One of the clerks shouted rather hysterically, “Kill him!”

Mist absently wondered how difficult a common sense world enchantment would be to create then decided that it would probably cause more problems than it solved. He ignored the screaming wizards and witches as he gestured with his sword and unleashed an energy beam that obliterated the goblin guard and the wall behind him then turned his attention to the goblin clerk that had shouted for his death. “Where is the director!”

One of the wizard employees pointed down the hall. “Down the hall.”

One of the goblin clerks shouted, “I’ll have your head Weatherbee!”

Mist pointed his sword at the annoying clerk and blasted him out of existence. “No, you won’t. This is not a robbery, this is not a hold up, this is merely a disagreement with the goblin nation because they stole my friend’s family heirlooms. This could have been done peacefully but no, they had to toss their weight around. But don’t worry, I’m ‘sure’ your ministry will be here to rescue you before the goblins decide to silence you to cover up their crimes.” He ignored the suddenly rather frantic wizards as they turned their wands on the goblins that were glaring at them.

Eris frowned slightly as she followed Mist through the bank, trying to figure out how she was going to spin things when she explained their trip to Mione.

Mist blasted the group of goblin guards that charged out of the break room reducing them to ash. He smiled grimly as he felt their magic and experience with various types of goblin magic flow into him. He’d boosted his wizarding magic enough that it wasn’t a huge boost but every little bit helped. He blasted the goblins standing guard in front of the Director’s door then walked over and ripped it open.

The goblin director stared in shock as the wizard ignored the many and varied death curses that should have dropped him dead on the spot. “What?”

Mist stepped into the goblin’s office. “I was going to do this peacefully but your guards decided threatening my friend was a good idea.”

The director glared at Eris as she stepped into the room. “You shouldn’t be here.”

Eris glared at the slightly overweight goblin sitting behind the large wooden desk. “You stole my family heirlooms because I had to get something out of a vault to kill Voldemort. I would have happily paid a fine but no, you wanted everything.”

Mist glared at the goblin. “What you’re going to do is put everything back in her vault then we’re going to empty it and we’ll happily leave you the hell alone, permanently.”

“You killed my guards.”

“They shouldn’t have threatened my friend.”

“I’ll see her stuff destroyed before I give it back.”

“In that case I declare war with Gringotts or at least this branch.” Mist lashed out with telepathy and ripped the knowledge of Eris’s vault location and what they’d done with her stuff from the goblin’s mind. “Let me see, you’ve already stolen most of her coin, stolen her family’s various goblin made items and sold off several pieces of Potter jewelry to the vultures that wanted a piece of Eris’s glory. So, yeah, I’m going to want those records.”

“Go to hell!” The goblin pulled his shotgun out from below the desk and shot Mist in the chest.

Mist raised his eyebrows. “Was that supposed to do something?”

The director stared at Mist in disbelief. “What are you?”

“Pissed off.” Mist pointed his sword at the goblin director and obliterated him with a magical blast.

Eris sighed. “We should probably avoid telling Mione about this.”

“Probably. Either way, I know the name of the goblin we need to talk to get the records of who they sold your stuff to.” Mist turned and headed out of the director’s office then headed toward the goblin responsible for selling off Eris’s stuff.

“Good.” Eris followed Mist down the hallway, occasionally wincing as he absently killed more goblin guards.

Mist frowned slightly as he gazed down at the wizarding prison from where he was hovering a thousand feet above the wizarding prison. He wasn’t sure how he was supposed to feel about the small mountain of goblins and dark wizards he’d killed to get Eris’s stuff back. On the one hand, Eris had technically broken into the bank to recover Voldemort’s horcrux, on the other hand, she hadn’t actually stolen anything other than the cup and it wasn’t like the goblins would have handed the horcrux over if they’d asked, they’d have wanted it for leverage. Even warning the goblins with telepathy that they were just recovering stolen property had only caused the little bastards to redouble their efforts to kill them so they could keep their ill gotten gains, never mind the complete lack of success the first two hundred goblin guards had experienced when they’d tried to kill them.

He also wasn’t sure if he was supposed to feel bad about the carefully worded letter he’d had Eris hand the paper that detailed the goblin nation’s various crimes against her and urged the wizarding world to take back their gold. He’d written the letter while using his slot machine power to fake cosmic manipulation and writing excellence which meant people should pay attention to the message, mostly that if the goblins could steal Eris Potter’s money, they could steal anyone’s money on trumped up charges. He had a feeling the goblins wouldn’t even last a month with the damage he’d already caused and the vaults they’d looted. He knew from killing the director and getting access to his memories that there were some rather nasty magical contracts that came into play if Gringotts couldn’t cover the lost gold and he’d made sure they couldn’t by teleporting most of the gold they owned out of Gringotts then robbing a decent number Death Eater vaults.

He pulled his attention back to the wizarding prison. “What do you think?”

Eris frowned as she thought about all of the times she’d almost been killed by dementors. “Holy fire? We need something that will kill or destroy the dementors and dark wizards without killing any innocents the ministry tossed in the prison.”

“Or we create a mass teleportation power that only works on decent people then we use it on the prison.”

“At which point there won’t be any nice people to vaporize, works for me.”

Mist focused on the power he wanted then let his slot machine create it. He let it charge up for several seconds then teleported any even halfway decent wizard or witch to the American Ministry of Magic. “Okay, that should be anyone even halfway decent.” He focused on what he needed, a power that would destroy the dementors and the entire cursed island without causing a massage tidal wave or other problems then let his power fill in the details. He snickered as he realized what his new power did. “This should work.” He unleashed his new power on the island and smiled as the island was covered by a storm of celestial fire that started eating the dark magic on the island.

Eris winced as hundreds of dementors started screaming as they burned. “I thought you couldn’t kill dementors?”

Mist shrugged. “You can’t, they were never really alive in the first place, destroying them on the other hand is easy enough with enough magic…” he trailed off as he watched one of the dementors try to escape only for the fire to surge up and over the fleeing dementor then drag it back to the ground where it consumed it. “I think I might have just found my new favorite spell.”

“Bullshit, you like your cloning spell and mana shield way too much.”

“Point, still, you have to agree that it’s rather pretty.” Mist smiled as he watched the twisted prison burn.

“Makes me wish I’d brought marshmallows.”

Mist smirked as he conjured a plate filled with smores. “Here.”

“Almost as good and probably safer,” Eris replied as she took one of the smores. She was glad that she’d ran into Mist, maybe he was a bit crazy but he was her type of crazy. “I’m looking forward to seeing a saner wizarding world.”

“We can hope.” Mist figured a cosmic world affecting magical attack that only targeted people with the dark mark would deal with the remaining Death Eaters quite nicely.

0o0o0

Genie smiled as she looked at Mist. “Nice work with the aliens and Death Eaters.”

Mist glanced around the black stone room then looked back at Genie. “Thanks, the aliens were going to wipe out Earth, I tried to talk them out of it.”

“Not very hard,” Genie replied with amusement.

“Considering they’re ‘intelligent’ insects that don’t believe in birth control and don’t see other sentients as worth much of anything, I’m not that broken up about killing them.”

“Fair enough, where are you going next?”

Mist said, “I was thinking about the Harry Potter fanfic jump.”

“Any particular reason?”

“The Merlin reborn perk lets me customize spells to an almost ludicrous degree and the World Walker perk lets me create portkeys and vanishing cabinets that take people to other worlds or dimensions.”

Genie frowned slightly as she studied Mist’s face. “You’re almost done jumping aren’t you?”

“Probably, can you blame me? I haven’t seen my old friends or family in decades, I’m immortal and have more magic than I’d ever dreamed of having before I started this adventure. I’m immune to just about everything under the sun and I can swap my slots around if I need a power I don’t have.”

Genie pouted. “Please tell me that you’re going to at least beat the crap out of an end jump after you hit Potter land?”

“That was the idea, yeah,” Mist admitted as Genie pulled him into a hug.

“Good, I don’t want to have a jumper that failed to get his spark.” She tossed the jump up on the screen.

“Just as long as you visit now and then,” Mist replied as he hugged her.

“You’re not getting rid of me that easily,” Genie replied as she reluctantly let him go.

Mist smiled as he reached up and lightly tapped her nose with his fingertip. “Good, I wouldn’t want to.”

“Don’t worry the rules for visiting are a lot more relaxed when you get your spark.”

“Good to know.” He was looking forward to seeing his friends and family again but at the same time he wasn’t, he doubted they’d really understand the changes he’d went through. He forced himself to pay attention to the jump doc as he tried to figure out what he wanted to buy.

Mist

Background: Grey

Age: 11

Starting Time: Summer before first year.

Fanfic: Harry Potter and Libromancy

Merlin Returned (Capstone Booster): [600] There were ancient tales of your coming, Jumper. Actually, wait, no there weren’t. But there should have been. You were born to greatness, and this reflects in everything you do. Magic is second nature to you. While you don’t get any skill or knowledge innate with this perk, nor any gifts or talents that pass down bloodlines or through rituals, you now have limitless talent in every single branch of magic apart from these limitations.

Besides that, you are a genius at learning magic too, mastering years’ worth of material in days

and weeks without even stressing yourself. This growth continues indefinitely, never slowing no

matter what. Your grasp of magic and its theoretical framework is such that you can manipulate the very nature of it, and do so with an almost contemptuous ease. You can take apart spells, rituals or even entire magic systems, and put them back together in whatever different arrangement you like, even in entirely new magic systems of your own. Even altering spells in real time is second nature to you, changing their effects, size, scope, everything. As is coming up with entirely new pieces of magic, with due research and innovation. Finally, to fuel all this, your ‘Magical Core’, per se, is proportionately vast. You have a humongous amount of magic at your fingertips, stretching far and beyond any known metrics well into the realm of legends like Merlin and the Founders. This perk follows you in the future too, providing you all of these effects in any and all magic you become able to do. This perk is a capstone booster, meaning that it serves to enhance each of the origin capstones in their own ways. The interactions are mentioned alongside the respective perks.

Innovation: [400] Magic is not a new phenomenon. It has been around for ages, and contrary to what you might tend to believe, its users are not idiots any more than normal people are. But for all that, it still doesn’t measure up to you! You’re able to come up with several innovations and ideas when presented with any magical field of study, no matter how well-studied or researched it might already be. And these are not just low key, barely noticeable changes, either. Unless you want to focus on the small stuff, you’re capable of sudden insights and ideas that can dramatically change the way the field is studied, discover unbelievable new uses for ordinary spells or potions, come up with entirely unique tricks... anything is possible.

Technomage: [600] There is so much more to magic than what these stuffy inbred old purebloods believe, and you can show them! You are an absolute master of the art of Techno-Magic. Making machines that run on magic, or just magical equivalents of Muggle technology, or something as simple as just making muggle devices work in magical environments is all child’s play for you. You can translate flawlessly between technology and magic, meaning that you can make technological equivalents to all magic you know and magical equivalents to all technology you can make without losing so much as an iota of the effectiveness.

Merlin Returned Boosted - While being good at merging magic and technology is pretty good, being able to merge wildly futuristic technology with highly advanced magic is better. Not only are you highly skilled at magic, but you’re now just as good at the technology side of it, being a certifiable genius among geniuses. Your merged devices now run far superior to either the magic or the tech would run alone, providing dramatically higher effectiveness and utility. In addition, your skills with the more ‘technical’ branches of magic, such as Arithmancy and such cross all imagined levels. Finally, you can achieve even things normally believed impossible through combining spells and technology. You can dispense with the more symbolic and ritualistic components of any and all magic you do, making it entirely as reproducible as technology. Automated spells, potion-making through machines... it’s all possible now.

Building Bridges: [Free] As it usually works, people in high-tension situations almost always develop ‘us vs them’ attitudes. Anyone who’s friendly with the ‘other side’ is consorting with the enemy, probably a traitor, so on and so forth. Not you, you’re immune to such petty suspicions. As long as you’re not actually betraying any of them, you can spend the night partying in a Vampire club and the day attending the wedding of the most vicious hunter in town, and neither group will mind. The greatest use of this, however, is in mediation. You can assist disparate groups find points of agreement, and also come to terms with their differences. As long as your points are valid, no one will dismiss you as being a ‘lapdog of the other side!’.

World Walker: [300] You have an affinity for spellwork that has to do with long distance magic, such as transporting people or things, even things like words or messages. Not only are you one of the finest experts in apparition in the world, being an absolute genius at every variation and technique that exists, you’re also capable of extremely fast flight without a broom, which has the curious effect of enveloping you in thick clouds of any colour you like. Apart from this, you’re extraordinary at creating things like Portkeys, Vanishing cabinets or Portals, being able to create Portkeys that can move people as gently as a mother’s touch, and portals that move people around without them even noticing it until it’s too late. Summoning and Banishing spells are trifling to you, even the most powerful or complex ones. You have a considerable aptitude for penetrating wards and defenses when building these things, so much so that with even rudimentary information about the protections on a place, you can figure out how to circumvent them, and with a bit more work you could bring them down outright. These abilities also carry over to any spells that revolve around observing people from afar, be they scrying spells, listening charms or other, similar magic.

Merlin Returned Boosted - Normally even the best of transportation or observation magic is limited by the range, be it a continent or a planet. Not for you such petty limits. Your portkeys can take someone to a different galaxy or a different reality just as easily they would take them next door. You can go into both alternate realities, such as ones where someone who was a boy in your reality was born a girl instead, or where there were twins, or where Voldemort never fell at all. This ability also ensures there are such realities in all future jumps. You can also go to the connected multiverse, even spiritual or astral realms like Faerie or somesuch. This ability covers any form of transportation that you can use. Portkeys, portals, apparition, anything can be used to travel thusly by you. You can’t use it to travel to other jumps until post-spark, however.

Items:

Common Wand: [Free] A normal, common wand. Made of wood and something from a powerful magical animal. Lets you cast magic.

Harvesting kit: [50] A set of knives and scalpels, some cleaning potions and materials. It has everything you need to cut up and preserve a magical animal perfectly, without any part going bad. It generates sanitized glass containers to prevent anything getting contaminated, the containers are indestructible. The materials in the kit naturally replace themselves over time when used up and you know how to use all of them.

Hogwarts, a History: [50] Perhaps the most common book in the Harry Potter universe, this book details everything about the castle and the school. Unlike the local copies, though, this book details everything. Who fucked whom in which cupboard, who cheated on which test, everything. It even updates itself in real time.

Vanishing Cabinets: [Free] This is a set of linked cupboard-like items, decorated with strange, funny-looking symbols. But its abilities go beyond its looks! These cabinets are a linked set, capable of transporting whatever is placed in one to the other, without any disruptions, side-effects or possibility of failure. It doesn’t matter what measures are in place to prevent it, it isn’t relevant how far apart the items are, so long as both are on the same planet. Enter one, step out of the other. Or move goods. Comes with blueprints on how to make more.

Personal Island: [300] This is a private island of your very own, raised from the seafloor. The island is linked directly to your magical core. Its size is directly proportional to how much magic you pour into it. As you put in more magic, you can literally see new land forming at the edges, ready to be moulded to your will. While it won’t shrink once enlarged unless you want it to, you have the ability to control virtually everything about this place, including its shape, flora and even the weather. This island is roughly half the size of Ireland to begin with and can expand quite a lot, dependent solely on your power. At about Australia sized, the efficiency takes a sharp dive, to the extent it takes over five times the power to increase it any further, and this only rises from there. The effects of this island on the climate of the world are negated with the same magic that constitutes it, so no need to worry about that. Comes with rudimentary Notice-me-not charms all over it, but they won’t stand up to any concerted efforts unless you boost them. Speaking of which, this island is very receptive of any protection or secrecy magic, to the extent that all such efforts yield twice the expected results.

Jumper School of Magic: [600] This is your very own school of magic. A huge castle complete with a lake, a forest and a vast grounds area, this is a place of learning, and what a place it is! The library here is one of the best in the world, holding a vast variety of texts about every branch of magic in the world. Nothing too advanced, but enough to get everyone very solid foundations in whatever branches of magic they choose to pursue. In addition, the NPC teachers this place generates are extraordinary at their jobs, being able to impart weeks worth of knowledge in hours. The most important feature of this school is, however, that the possibilities of who can learn what magic are blurred in here. In here, any person who knows a certain style of magic can teach it to anyone else. Any internal requirements to be able to learn or use that magic just develop by themselves. Depending on the complexity it can take a while, but it’ll never take more than a week for a person to acquire a rookie’s skills in any style of magic, whatever that style may be and whatever they might have been previously.

There is one requirement, though, which is that anyone learning here must have been capable of some type of magic all along. Complete muggles or squibs cannot be taught here. This limitation is removed Post-Jump, allowing you to induct even completely mundane people into any and all styles of magic you can perform, and vice-versa. Post jump it becomes a warehouse attachment until you decide where to place it in the world, at which point it then integrates itself flawlessly into that location.

Local Companion: [100] Hermione Granger

Scenarios: Jumper That Lived: Replace Harry Potter [+500]

Drawbacks:

Marriage Contracts: [100] Oops! Turns out you have a marriage contract to your name. In every case, the person is someone you simply can not get along with. Oh they look good enough, but inside they’re all everything you do not like in your partners. If you’re the quiet type then they’re shrill harpies. If you’re a prude they’re wanton, and if you like to get frisky now and then they might as well be nuns.

Dumbledorean Troubles: [200] Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts,

takes far too much of an interest in your life. He likes to keep tabs on you, and keep an eye on

where you go and what you do, even when he really doesn’t have any reason to.

Dark Lord’s Target: [600] Okay, what happened? Somehow, you’ve made enemies of the Dark Lord Voldemort, who now considers you his most important target in priority right after Harry and Dumbledore. Death Eaters will dog your steps, dementors will attack you, as will anything else he can throw at you. This also includes the only other Dark Lord known to be alive. Gellert Grindelwald has broken out of Nurmengard and is rebuilding his empire, and as soon as he’s gotten something together you’re at the absolute top of his list.

Durzkaban Inmate: [600] Okay. So...um, let’s talk about your family. They’re kind of...troubling, simply put. Your parents/guardians are really incompetent. They don’t know the first thing about raising a child/teenager, and they’re too stupid to learn. They don’t remember to feed you properly, they forget to pick you up from Platform 9 ¾, they’re just too neglectful to count as ‘parents’ even when they’re not trying to hurt and/or kill you, maybe for your inheritance or maybe for some other reason. They will deliberately try to starve you to death, beat you up with a belt, whip you, hit you with frying pans...and those are the less unsavory things they try. This hole goes deep indeed, Jumper.

Genie finished looking over the group’s builds. “No elemental masteries, magical forms or shenanigans with companions?”

“I can already turn into a dragon or basically anything else I want using magic and I have wandless magic thanks to the Sims. I wouldn’t have minded buying the combat capstone but I don’t technically need it considering I’m already insanely skilled at combat.”

“What about the amazing awesome wand of epic doom or the Deathly Hallows?” Genie asked with amusement.

Mist shrugged. “I’ve already boosted my wand to an insane degree and I’d rather not get turned into Death’s servant because let’s be honest, that’s usually what happens when Harry assembles the Hallows.”

Genie snickered. “You’re smarter than most wizards.”

“I’d like to think so. Where are you dropping Abby and Selena?”

“I’m not sure yet, I figured I’d ask check with them before I drop them in, I’m sure they’ll find you.”

“Wouldn’t be the first time.”

“I’m guessing you want to drop in after you grab the Libromancy book?” Genie asked with amusement.

“That would keep me from screwing something up, so yeah.”

“Fair enough.”

“Speaking of messing things up, there are other versions where the main story happens, right?”

“Of course, I’ll see you in a year, we can have a party.”

“I’d like that.” Mist blinked as he found himself in a library with a bit of a headache. He ignored the headache that was quickly fading as he glanced down at his ragged and overly large clothes. ‘Okay, step one swap clothes, step two, have some fun.’ He pulled his ‘normal’ and heavily enchanted clothes out of his inventory then turned invisible on the off chance that someone noticed his out of the way ‘hiding spot’ and swapped into his normal gear. He was just glad that his clothes were enchanted to adjust their size and fit because he was a lot shorter than he was used to. He stuffed ‘his’ oversized clothes into his inventory so he could return them to the Dursleys then dropped his invisibility and headed toward the classics section to pick up a book.

‘N, O… right section.” He smiled as he found the book he was looking for. “Oliver Twist, seems fitting.” He pulled the book off the shelf then duplicated it. He put the original back then stuck the copy in his inventory. He walked over to the children’s section and looked through the books until he found the Indian in the Cupboard. He glanced around to make sure no one could see him then reached his hand into the book and grabbed the magical key. He sighed in relief as the book seemed to age and grow brittle before his eyes. ‘At least it works.’ He put the magic key in his inventory then put the book back on the shelf.

‘If I remember correctly Sally’s book was in the children’s section.’ He smiled as he went looking for the book with Sally’s wallet. Sure, he had a charge card but having a wallet that could make withdrawals wouldn’t be a bad thing. Thankfully it didn’t take all that long to track the book down and grab the wallet. He glanced over toward the magazine section. ‘I should grab what I need to recruit Sarah.’ He walked over to the section of magazines and started looking through them.

Thankfully it didn’t take him more than a minute to find the Girls of Fantasy Art Models and Accessories magazine which was the magazine Harry had pulled Sarah out of in the story. He glanced around to make sure no one was paying attention then duplicated the magazine and put the original in his inventory. He put the copy ‘back’ on the rack then headed for the door. Harry might have slept in the library in the story but he had better options. He waited until he was outside then pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and called Hermione.

Hermione answered right after the first ring. “Which jump are we in?”

“A version of your world, Harry i.e. me just picked up Libromancy,” Mist replied as he started walking toward the Dursleys.

“Libromacy? As in jumping into books?”

“And pulling stuff out of them.”

“Where are you?” She asked with excitement.

“Just outside the library in Surrey.”

“What flaws did you take?”

“Dumbledore has an interest in my whereabouts which he was pretty much going to anyways, Voldemort wants to kill me and the Dursleys are slightly worse than Harry’s version. Oh, I’ve also got to ruin a marriage contract but it doesn’t say I can’t just kill her.”

“Mist!”

“Kidding, mostly. I’m sure that I figure out a way out of it.”

“That sounds suspiciously easy, what aren’t you telling me?”

“I also get five hundred points for being Harry. I mean sure I remember the Dursleys trying to kill me a couple of times growing up but that’s what accidental magic is for.”

“Are you okay?”

Mist rolled his eyes. “I’m not a child, I can deal with some fake memories.”

“Wait, how old are you?”

“I don’t think it’s the end of July yet so ten?”

“So, do you have a plan?”

“Yep, deal with the Dursleys then recruit some local talent and deal with Voldemort.”

“In other words, you’ll be done with most of your flaws in a couple of hours?” Hermione asked with amusement.

“Close enough. Unless things went drastically wrong, I know where his horcruxes are. I know the perfect place to take them to.”

“Where is that?” Hermione asked warily.

“Demonic soul merchant, I can sell the soul fragments for powers.”

Hermione rubbed her face. “Mist.”

“What? That’s what Harry did in the story, it worked great. Oh, that reminds me, I should free Sirius at some point. Actually, do you want to send the Weasley Twins to deal with that?”

”Are you trying to cause chaos and destruction?”

“Not really, I just figured catching Peter would be the easiest way to prove Sirius’s innocence and they know the layout of the Burrow.”

“Where are you heading?”

“To deal with the Dursleys.”

“Deal with?” she asked suspiciously.

“I’m going to turn them into children then I’m going to stick them inside an Oliver Twist novel.”

“That seems harsh…”

“You didn’t grow up with them. They should be happy I’m feeling ironic rather than vengeful as hell, otherwise I might get more creative.”

Hermione winced as she thought about sticking anyone in an Oliver Twist novel. “What’s my alternate like?”

“From what I remember of the story, eleven and decently kinky. I’m trying not to think about it too much because I’m not ten or eleven even if I am.”

Hermione snorted. “In other words, you’re going to stick her in a pocket world for a couple of years aren’t you?”

“Or a book, are you volunteering to be her big sister for a couple of years?” Mist asked hopefully.

“Of course, I’m sure that Puck and Mione will be more than happy to help.”

“In that case, I’m sure we can figure out something.”

“Sounds good, I’ll tell the Twins about Peter then I’m going to grab Harry, I’m sure he’d like to say a few words to the Dursleys before you toss them into the book.”

“Words, right. See you in a few.” He briefly considered inviting Eris to help but he wanted the Dursleys alive to suffer.

“Love you,” Hermione replied then ended the call and went looking for the twins.

Harry glanced away from the Dursleys’ house and over at Mist. “Do we have a plan?”

Mist grinned as he walked up the driveway toward the house. “I was planning on casting reflect damage then walking in the front door and telling Vernon that he has a whale of a son and that I’m done putting up with it.”

“At which point he’s going to hit you.”

“Exactly. It’s not like he can hurt me.” Mist cast his reflect spell.

“Lucky you,” Harry muttered as he thought about his own experiences with the Dursleys.

“Yeah well, let’s get this over with.” Mist was fairly sure that jump fiat was the only thing that had kept the Dursleys alive through some of the stuff his younger self had tried to deal with them. Everything from reporting them to the cops for abuse, poisoning them to taking a frying pan to Dudley’s skull while he was sleeping. It was nice to know that even without his memories he wasn’t inclined to put up with shit. He walked up to the door and rang the doorbell, mostly just to annoy Vernon. He smirked as he rang the doorbell a couple more times until he heard stomping coming from inside.

Vernon opened the door and glared at Mist. “Boy, what do you think you’re doing? What are you wearing?”

“Clothes,” Mist replied sarcastically.

“Your shirt is silk, did you steal it?”

“No idea, I’ve had it for years, pretty sure I bought it.” He actually remembered exactly where he’d gotten all of the pieces that went into his shirt but he didn’t see a point in mentioning that to the tub of lard that was Vernon. “By the way, your son is a piece of shit and you need to eat less.” He smirked as Vernon slammed his fist into his face then staggered backwards thanks to his spell that reflected the force of the attack. “Problem Vernon?” He asked as he stepped into the house. He laughed as Vernon tossed another punch not really understanding what had happened the first time.

Harry shook his head as he watched Vernon knock himself out. “That’s rather pathetic.”

“Yeah, it’s pretty bad.” He gestured and froze Dudley in place as his ‘cousin’ tried to sneak up on him with a knife. “At least the idiot has more sense than Vernon.”

Harry walked in then closed the door behind him. He glanced over at ‘his’ cousin. “I’m not surprised, the Dursley genetics are slightly diluted.”

“I’d considered explaining things to Vernon but I think I’ll just leave him a note and let him wake up in hell.”

Harry scowled as he thought about his Aunt Marge. “You should grab Marge while you’re at it.”

Mist opened a door near Marge Dursley then gestured and dropped the shocked woman unconscious with a sleep spell. He pulled her through the door with telekinesis.

Harry lunged forward and kicked Ripper as he tried to charge through the portal. “Fucking dog.”

Mist winced slightly as the dog bounced off the wall of Marge’s kitchen and landed in a heap. Normally he wasn’t a fan of animal cruelty but he’d make an exception for that particular demented dog considering he had several scars from it or at least his younger self had several scars he needed to deal with. He let the door close. “I was planning on turning the gas on in her house and setting up a candle so that she’d burn to death in her sleep but this is more ironic.” He swapped one of his slots to a youth granting power.

Harry glared at Marge. “Not to mention she’ll suffer longer this way.”

“True.” Mist zapped Marge and Vernon with his new power turning them into six year olds. “Yeah, they’re still ugly.”

“I’m not surprised. What are you going to tell the people at the orphanage?”

“I’m going to tell them that we caught Marge fucking the family pet dog and Vernon stealing so we had to get rid of them and that we need them to beat the freak out of them.”

“That’s cold.”

Mist shrugged. “Can you honestly say it’s not justice?”

“Not really. You should make sure you tell them that they’re lairs for good measure. What are you planning on doing to Dudley?”

Mist glanced at the paralyzed blob that was ‘his’ cousin. “I was thinking about ripping out some of his more annoying personality traits with the mind garden then dropping him in a book with some type of reform school for a few years.”

“It’s worth a try. What about Petunia?”

“I think I’ll let Lily decide what she wants to do to her.”

Harry winced slightly. “That’s going to end in tears.”

“Probably, but they brought it upon themselves,” Mist replied as he pulled his copy of Oliver Twist out of his inventory. He gestured at the book and used a touch of magic to remove all of the evidence of it being a library book then set it on the end table. “I’ll be back in a bit, try not to kill Dudley while I’m gone.” He swapped to his more adult form then reached out with his magic and pulled Vernon and Marge into the book with him.

Harry turned to look at Dudley an unhinged smirk on his face. ”Don’t worry, I’m not going to kill you, I’m going to fix you.”

Dudley felt a chill go down his spine as he realized that his cousin could make people disappear and that they were going to ‘fix’ him.

It's a case of having everything the jumper set out to have... magic, immortality, the ability to hand out magic and powers... the ability to not get splattered exploring the multiverse... the ability to explore the multiverse and pick up more abilities as needed. Merlin reborn was the last piece he really needed though the island is pretty neat.

Mist of Shadows

Brilliant, my current chain was going to go here soon actually. It's a little sad that this chain is wending it's way to an end, but at the same time all good things come to an end(or at least the stories do, good characters live on far longer than their stories).
