Interviewer: Here are the questions. The idea for the article is to include a few reaction videos (of Butter) with a paragraph or two underneath to provide some background for the reactors.

1. When did you start doing k-pop reaction videos and why?

I don’t think we’ve really dived into the K-Pop space necessarily. Our focus has been on reacting to the music of BTS. This hobby of ours which has blossomed into a full-on obsession started 2 years ago ironically enough by way of a recommendation from another reactor. BTS caught our attention instantaneously after we watched the music video Mic Drop. The song itself was melodious but what really kept us coming back for more was the 7 stars that were ever present in that video. There was something about their charisma and bond that was reflected harmoniously in the choreography of that video that gave us a clue that we had stumbled upon something special. That was our first step into what we now know as the “rabbit hole”.

2. Have you done reaction videos to other genres and if so, what music?

Why yes, we have. Being huge Hip Hop fans, we’ve reacted to music videos to a few artists such as: Logic, Eminem, Joyner Lucas, and a few others before we started reacting exclusively to BTS. One of the elements within BTS’ music that drew us in was Hip Hop itself. This helped us to form an immediate connection with the music of BTS that grew into us desiring to learn more about them as individuals.

3. Can you tell me something about your background? What do you want people to know about you? What part of the country do you live in?

I guess you can call me a traditional Southern Boy sprinkled with a dash of Cajun Seasoning. I grew up in New Orleans LA, but I have lived in the state of Georgia and now Texas. I’ve traveled all over the southern part of the United States, but I haven’t quite ventured up north or even outside of the U.S. itself. I guess you can say I’m home made and home stayed.

I guess the first thing you need to know about me is that I am a lover of animals, in particularly dogs. And yes, I am one of those people that treat their dogs like children. Now you know. Secondly, I am a lover of music. I don’t really have a particular bias when it comes to music. I just love good music. Lastly, I’m the kind of guy that does his best to look at the positive in any situation. While it’s not always easy to see things from a positive perspective, I know from experience that your outcome is often determined by your perception. Lastly, I want people to know that even though you may see me on YouTube or consider me an “Influencer”, I struggle with the same things that a lot of people do almost every day. Influencers are not above the human condition. But I do my best to love myself better each day and keep pushing forward in whatever direction life takes me while making the best of it as I go. That’s me.

4. For me video reactions are a fun way to share enthusiasm. What do you like most about it?

I have to say that the best thing about reactions to me is the interaction we have with our Fam Base (not fan base) after the video is published. In reality you can have the same fun experience watching a video or listening to music without the camera on, if you’re a real fan of what you are reacting to. But what makes this experience worthwhile is going in the comments and seeing what the people who watch your videos have to say. We learn so much from each other. When you are reacting to a video for the first time there is no way you will catch everything upon the first playthrough, especially with BTS videos. So having a community of people we can interact with that will point out things we didn’t notice while we in turn are pointing out things they didn’t notice while they are watching our reaction video is nothing short of thrilling to me. There’s a real connection there and it’s so fulfilling to see that they get excited about the same things that we do. I think it brings a sense of validation to a lot of us that don’t know people in our ever day lives that love BTS like we do.

5. You reacted to Butter with two friends. Do you always do reaction videos with friends, with the same friends, or do you sometimes do them alone? Can we mention the names of the friends you did Butter with?

I did the Butter reaction with my brothers Adam and Blaze. The former is my brother by blood, but both are my brothers by heart and spirit. Both are dancers and music artists so they are able to bring a level of clarity when we do reaction videos. I also do reaction videos with my lovely fiancé Mika who always has a way of helping us to see things from an empathetic point of view. I do most of my reaction videos with these 3 because they have the most open minds within my circle of friends and family when it comes to music.

If these 3 are not available for any reason I have been known to do a reaction alone. In which case I don’t really consider myself being alone because I always have the viewers there with me in spirit. At least that’s what I tell myself when I’m alone lol.
