❤️ 🍵 Tea’s Recommendations 🍵 ❤️ [August 2022] [Things I Like That You Might Like Too]

Yo, Teacups!

If you haven’t seen one of these posts before, this is just what it says on the tin - a recommendations post. Sometimes I get caught in a cycle of the same movies, books, activities, and whatever else. If you also suffer from this, I hope this small collection of recommendations can be of some help.

P.S. These are obviously just things I like and if you don’t like them too, then that’s absolutely a-okay ❤️

Series:

Money Heist:

Codenames, complicated characters, and a shit-ton of suspense! Money Heist is dynamic, funny, and good for anyone who likes to get hooked instantly. Far from a slow burn, Money Heist lays out the pieces rapid fire, making you eager to keep pace. Follow the Professor, Tokyo, Berlin, and a bunch of other oddities as they finesse, scheme, and bumble their way through the heist of the century. Best consumed with popcorn - you know, for suspense :)

Uncoupled:

Heartbreak sucks! Especially when your boyfriend of seventeen years moves out without so much as a note. Neil Patrick Harris stars as Michael, the jilted and perpetually confused real estate agent. Follow him as he tries to figure out why his partner would leave so abruptly, whilst also navigating the confusing and changing world of modern day relationships. Perfect for someone looking for a summer rom-com.

Becoming Elizabeth:

I don’t what it is about Tudor England, but holy fuck - here’s another period drama about Henry VIII’s rabble. Becoming Elizabeth stands out amongst the plethora of Medieval dramas - interesting music choices, compelling actors, and a lot more focus on the political players rather than just barely-clothed women panting because a man touch their décolletage (not that there’s anything wrong with that - we just like a bit of depth with our Tudor content). Also, Mary-fucking-Tudor is captivating and I want a whole series with this actress immediately! Grab a mug of something and mentally grapple with how the fuck you’d survive the Tudor court. P.S. I wouldn’t.

Curb Your Enthusiasm:

The show that has no script and absolute quality! Curb is a long running show that I’ve only discovered in the last year. Similar vibes to It’s Always Sunny, but not quite as dark. The characters aren’t so much reprehensible as more eerily real. You know a Susie, you know a Larry and a Jeff and that what makes the comedy that much better. If you need a good, maybe slightly uncomfortable laugh - please give it a go. Also, how the hell do these guys improvise this? How?!

Activities:

Take Care of Yourself:

Motherfuckers (and I include myself in there), we need to take care of ourselves. I know it’s boring, I know somedays it’s not even on our radar, but it will help us. Brush your teeth (dental problems can be so painful and expensive), clean yourself (if you smell bad, you’ll feel bad), keep your space clean (clutter and dirt do not inspire harmony), and get enough sleep (go to bed really early if you have to). As much as it seems like a chore, these small things add up to a much bigger picture. Let’s do this! Write down a wellness routine, if you think you’d find that helpful. Create pathways and habits that will actually serve you.

Be Mindful with Your People:

Are people annoying? Sometimes, yes. But so are we. It’s easy to take the people we love for granted. Let’s work on being more mindful that we have these people who care about us. Even if it’s just you, in the moment, telling yourself, “I love them. I really, really love them” that’s taking the time out to really feel how lucky we are to be here with the ones we love. Also, show and tell people you appreciate them. Buy their favourite candy bar, ask them to go for a walk with you, make them a cheap meal, text them “I love you”. We have the power to make others feel their importance - let’s do that.

Positivity Via Osmosis:

Consume that which’ll lift your spirit. Listen to happy music, eat foods that have a happy memory attached to them, see if you can beat your high score on a game, store memes that make you snort-laugh. Foster the good vibes. We all need them. And sometimes having that piggy bank of goodness can really help weather the storm.

And that’s my humble offer, guys. Stay safe, drink water and get some rest.

All the best,

Tea
