❤️ Tea’s Recommendations ❤️ [May 2022]

Yo, Teacups!

If you haven’t seen one of these posts before, this is just what it says on the tin - a recommendations post. Sometimes I get caught in a cycle of the same movies, books, activities, and whatever else. If you also suffer from this, I hope this small collection of recommendations can be of some help.

P.S. These are obviously just things I like and if you don’t like them too, then that’s absolutely a-okay ❤️

YouTube Channels:

Ruby Granger:

Daily routine videos, study tips and general wholesomeness - Ruby’s channel is perfect for those of us who like a little calm with our entertainment. I watch her videos when hula hooping, doing chores, even when I’m in the bath. Ruby is incredibly smart, humble and just generally a pleasure to watch. I highly recommend you give her and her charming videos a try.

Darling Desi:

If you love cottagecore, tranquility and aesthetically pleasing outfits, you’ll adore this channel. Not only is Desi infectiously cheerful, but she also encourages you to think about your life in a more mindful way. Life is often challenging, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do or find things that bring us joy. Desi does a lot of videos around improving her environment, finding new hobbies, and just basically trying to live a happier, more romantic day-to-day. If you’re looking to be a bit more active in finding fun in the everyday, I highly recommend her channel. Plus, all of her thumbnails are absolutely gorgeous!

Poalo from Tokyo:

Poalo does a lot of different kinds of content, but my personal favourite is his “A Day in the Life of” series. From housewives, to office workers, to toy makers and mechanics, Paolo explores the day-to-days of many different people in many different situations. There’s something really enjoyable about looking at different ways of living, careers and routines, and through these videos you can learn a lot of interesting trivia. Poalo is also incredibly likeable, hardworking and just a lot of fun to watch.

toasty tok:

I don’t have social media because I personally don’t feel like it benefits me, but through channels like toasty’s I get to look at some of the things I’d otherwise miss out on. This channel is full of wholesome and helpful tidbits, like “productive morning routine compliations” from Tik Tok or “cottagecore ideas” from instagram. It’s a really convenient place to get what I’m looking for from the internet. Please know I absolutely understand that social media can be a wonderful thing for a lot of people, Its just personally not for me, and I’ve learnt that you don’t have to partake in things just to feel relevant. You are relevant. You’re alive right now and you should do what works best for you.

Choki:

Homey aesthetics and daily routines. There appears to be a theme in my entertainment. This woman’s videos are beautiful, relaxing and just full of wholesome goodness. Whether she’s sharing recipes, showing you her daily life, or even offering advice on how to heal from whatever ails you - her channel is always a safe haven that I’m sure so many of us appreciate right now.

Series:

Rome:

Nuanced, engaging, with a fabulous cast of actors - Rome is perfect for anyone who enjoys historical dramas. There’s lots of penis jokes, political cat fights, and historical figures brought to life. Enjoy!

Bridgerton:

Do you like predictable love stories that make you simultaneously roll your eyes whilst also continuing to binge it in a single day? Well, I sure as shit do! Honestly, the audacity of me is astounding! I dare mock and love this so badly. I can’t explain it beyond there must be something about it that just works for me. I’m truly not doing it justice. It clearly does it for millions and millions of people, myself included, I’m just a bit mystified as to what exactly it does. But nonetheless, I watched it, I enjoyed it and that’s the takeaway. It won’t challenge you, but a lot of the time, I don’t really wanna be challenged. I wanna watch something easy that goes with a huge bowl of pasta.

Gentleman Jack:

19th century lesbians, amazing music, and a complicated leading lady that makes you both scoff and salute her all at once. Prepare to want to strut, swagger and seduce respectable young ladies!

Activities:

Walk 10,000 Steps Everyday:

I’m currently on a bit of a health kick and making this my daily goal has been really helpful. We all have different struggles, abilities and schedules, and there should be no judgement around that. Everyone is different. I’m no gym junkie. I like the exercises that I do (hula hooping, walking my dog, cycling), but I have no desire to have a six pack. Whatever your fitness goals, the most important thing is that you feel happy, able and contented. Pushing yourself to the limit might work for some people, but if that’s the case that should be a process over a long period of time. For me personally, I’ve seen the best results (both physically and mentally) with manageable, consistent effort everyday. As I said, this might not work for everyone, but it’s definitely helping me.

Make a Playlist for Working Out:

Because I’m not a natural gym goer, I have to make the experience fun for me. It’s the only way. I have to distract my brain from what I’m doing so that I can do it consistently. As such, Spotify is such a fantastic tool. Spend a few minutes or even make an evening of cultivating the songs that motivate you to move. I also watch YouTube videos and Tv shows whilst I workout and I cannot imagine not having that little something that helps me through.

And that’s my humble offer, guys. Even if it’s been bumpy, I really do hope this year brings so much growth and healing for us all.

All the best,

Tea
