MOB OF THE DEAD - VISUALS 26/04/24

This week I've been working mainly on some of the visual effects for this map including the effects for afterlife, the effects around zombies as they are teleported by afterlife, the effects for the Electrical Panels and Shockboxes being activated and the effects for the Electric Chair sequence. I've also been working on recreating the afterlife Pack a Punch camo using assets from Shadows of Evil! This is all still quite heavy work in progress as I've only really started working on them this week but I'm quite happy with how they're all coming along so far! I still need to do the visuals for other aspects of the map such as the Hell's Retriever and Dog Head. I also would like to redo some of the effects I have for afterlife as I'm not really happy with how they turned out originally. I'm pretty happy with how the Electric Chair sequence is coming along though I feel like it's going to look fantastic when I'm finished with it!

The PAP Camo I am also quite happy with so far, I'd like to do multiple different colour variants for the various AATs (on the chronicles version), like I can envision a blue afterlife camo for Deadwire, green for Turned ect. I think that will look really good, I've also been working on a few new side eastereggs which are almost ready to be implemented! 2 new small questlines and one more subtle quest for those who are interested in Lore ;)

Can't wait to see people hunting for them!

looking good! maybe make it so when looking at power boxes to turn on perks in afterlife the crosshair also goes yellow like when aiming at a zombie? just to hint to the player that it is interactable

it's just the afterlife effects i'm not super happy with, such as the electricity flowing up the arms and smokey ghost effect around the hands. I'm going to be redoing those, the animations and models i'm quite happy with though! I will check out Project Viking and see how they've got theirs set up regardless!

This looks amazing! You said that you aren't super happy with afterlife, I saw that project viking has a afterlife mode, maybe you could take inspiration from that one bc imo it looks very similar to the one in motd

Well I’d certainly say it doesn’t look bad in its current state, considering how well you performed a faithful recreation in maps prior, the community and I have faith that what we receive will be your best, I hope there’s a possible work around to overcome this obstacle, nonetheless it would be an understatement to say what you’ve done so far is incredible.

it's not possible to do that camera tracking on custom characters unfortunately, i did try to but it completely breaks on any set of characters other than the default origins crew, so i've had to use a workaround by putting the anim on a weapon and giving that weapon to the player to get it to work on the mobsters, there's really not much more i can do

Yes the base animation, but the camera tracking from the origins animation is missing, finding a way to add that would make a huge difference

Could you just copy and paste the chronicles origins robot fall animation and tweak it from there?

i need to make you spin as you fall towards the bridge but the usual way to do stuff like that doesn't work on this occasion, it's really choppy and doesn't look great so i need to find a workaround for that lol

Ok everything looks perfect besides getting into afterlife, the gun should disappear when entering, also I think you should polish falling off the plane onto bridge animation, maybe add dynamic motion blur for that moment.

it does! it shakes around a bit and then lights up and starts warping just like in the original
