ZOMBIES IN VEGAS - TIMELAPSE 21/04/24

Bonus post this week as over the weekend I decided to do a bit of mapping work on Zombies in Vegas! Here's a timelapse of me doing the geometry for a walkway that goes through the middle of the casino!

In this video I'm just doing the basic geometry for the walkway, ready for it to be detailed at a later date. You may have noticed a lot of spaceland assets being used in this map so far, all these will be replaced when the time is right I'm just using them as placeholder for now. I just wanted to clarify in case you're confused about there being "Welcome to Spaceland" signs under the bridge lol. ZIV is still very early in development so much of the map is still in blockout stages (meaning the layout is done but it's missing depth and textures) so I decided I'd like to make a start on refining some of the main map features, starting with this walkway! This walkway towers over the middle of the casino and serves as a way to access the elevator to the top of the tower, the Eiffel Tower will be accessible in this map and you will be able to go all the way to the top floor as part of a questline (no spoilers!). I also decided I wanted to add something big in the casino as a way to orient yourself as when the map was in very early stages I found myself getting lost quite easily in the layout I had created, however by using large, easily distinguishable features like this, it makes navigating the map much easier! This is also one of the main reasons I decided to set the map around the Paris subsection in Vegas, as using the Eiffel Tower to orient yourself when outdoors comes in handy a lot!

This walkway is based on the real life walkway in the Paris Casino that connects the Tower to the ground floor, the casino in my map is inspired greatly by this place as I think it's such an aesthetically beautiful building! The layout for ZIV is completely original however, with new areas not present IRL and areas inspired by completely different buildings. This map is essentially going to be a mashup of all my favourite Vegas locations in one cohesive map lol
