This week for mob I've mainly been working on optimising the map to run at the highest possible performance that I can get out of it. Earlier this week the map was running a little slower than I would have liked it to, with an average FPS of around 90 - 100 and occasional frame drops depending on the current state of the game, this is something I really wanted to try and address as lag was a big issue for people on Call of the Dead, so I wanted to make sure I don't make the same mistake again with this map. I've been adding LOD's to all my models so they render at a lower resolution the further away they are to the player, as well as making sure to hide any areas not visible to the player using Umbra Tomes, the lighting I've also given a pass over to make sure no lights render when they're not supposed to, and also lowered the resolution of some of the more subtle lights. All in all the map looks pretty much the same as it did before however now runs much faster on average than previous builds!
It's currently running at an average of around 180 - 200 FPS on my PC! It will be tested on a variety of machines as well to ensure it runs at a good framerate on practically any computer!
