Beneath skies of iron and frostbitten voids, he treads,
His axe a hymn of ruin, his face cloaked in blackened bronze.
The undead rise like questions he cannot answer, cannot ignore,
And he fights, not to survive, but to deny the silence its claim.

Another rando DF scene for watercolor practice. Not quite as cool as the last one, but hey, thats what practice is for, eh?
I generated a cold, cold world this time and made it so the world's population was very low to start with. I believe there was an age long ago where the people of the earth strode into the freezing light, but it was only a brief period that was snuffed out by necromancers. They killed the world's population and turned them to living corpses. The necromancers have ruled for many hundreds of years at this point.
I found it interesting that the world only had a very narrow band of livable biome in the middle with 2 little warm clusters in the north.
I created an adventurer (whose name i've forgotten) and was immediately thrown into combat as the village I was in was loaded with corpses who immediately swarmed me. I was able to fight them off and escape. This all occurred in the northwest "eye" on the map.
I continued down through the ice over the course of a day and entered the "belt" region in the middle and found it surprisingly verdant. It was like a cold jungle loaded with gorillas, gibbons and a whole slew of other primates. Stopped over at a few of the settlements I found, but only ever found hordes of undead..ooh and a mummy in a tomb that I was able to kill. I don't think I've EVER killed a mummy in Dwarf Fortress.
