Hey everyone,
Following on from our last dev update, based on your feedback and how the game will play out, we’ve chosen to remove the option to change your character name. Once we got to the point where Eleanor's name needed to appear in scenes, we realised it can’t be done any other way!
What this means is, we can build on the immersion of the story by not only having nicknames for Eleanor, but also feature her name in a scene, for example when having her shirt signed. (This is also a nice way for players to work out what her full name is without us explicitly telling you, as well as a great way to include extra, character-building backstories):

A more common appearance of Eleanor's name is on her phone (texting, in apps etc.):

Most games have faceless, personality-less protagonists, which makes having custom names not an issue. But when the focus of the game is the main character, having custom names can take some of that personality away. Anyway we don’t need to explain it to you, we’re sure you understand already!
So where are we at with development? We’re approaching the last couple of major scenes in Episode 1, where Eleanor and her friends go out into town to experience the nightlife and celebrate finishing school. We’ve already completed more than 200 separate images including the 80 or so from the preview.
Lastly, we’re also considering shifting some of the reward tiers around, perhaps adding an extra one at the top end, the main benefit of which would be for you to play each Episode while it’s still in development, before release. This will give our biggest supporters the opportunity to experience what’s coming before anyone else, as well as get hands-on time with the game as it develops and help shape it. But before we commit to any changes we’d like to hear your response. What do you think? Let us know!
Extra news - Instagram and Website
Oh and finally, we’ve set up Eleanor's Instagram account where she will share pictures of herself, friends and family - find her @erosiongames. Of course, she won’t post anything there that Patrons haven’t seen first. We’ve also set up our website: erosiongames.com. It’s not complete and is bare-bones for now, but if you have anything you want to say or share with the team you can email us at hello@erosiongames.com.
Thanks guys!
