Greetings all!
This is the final version of the new cover. What do you think? I hope it will do well to catch people's eye and imagination.
As we have now reached the end of another book I wanted to lay out what will be happening next. I have a deadline to get the Manuscript to my editor by Dec 8th so in the next couple of days I will be making last minute edits.
I will also be rapid posting the chapters to RR so that people reading there will have a chance to read the sto...

Princess Lunalah wept.
The bitterness in her heart gave way to anguish and longing and then harsh bitterness again. She cursed the planet Luxor as it grew tiny in the viewport of the starship, all the hatred and venom for the council mixing with her loathing for Silver Light and Ling Wei.
There were so many people to hate.
So many who had betrayed her.
So many who now openly and brazenly despised her.
She sobbed again as the incomprehension hit her.
How...

I spotted the Chairwoman Yue Zhi Wen within the crowd of panicked councilmen and pointed straight at her.
“Madam Chair!”
She jumped startled and stared back at me like a dear in headlights, fear pumping.
She perhaps expected me to do something to her, to take vengeance, to make her pay for her ruling and be the first to feel my newly ascended wrath. But I could see the chess moves twenty steps ahead now. Securing her and the High Council’s safety would be the key to se...

Within the cosmos It saw.
A million eyes gave view to a million worlds.
A million apertures with which to influence all existence.
It could barely fathom how It existed within the confines, viewing the cosmos through crudely constructed apertures, but one or two at a time. It was a sickness. A madness. Even now the residual imprints of that prison lingered upon It.
Poisoned by…emotion.
Hatred.
Fear.
Such were the constructs of mortals.

The tone within the stadium had completely changed.
Gone was the fanfare and excitement of the tournament match, to be replaced by perfect silence as the High Council, the highest court in the land, conducted its business. I stood in my brand new robes, flanked by Lunalah and her mother Empress Revenah.
The same chairwoman from the tribunal was presiding over the floating dais, but she was on her own now and from the caption on the Qi-screens, her title had changed as well, becomi...

“The Iron Marshal is down! All bets are off!”
Fia’s heart jumped with fright at the call.
Instantly the gamblers were abuzz with salvaging what could be their lost fortunes as the odds shifted dramatically in Lady Rhe Su Long’s favor. Fia pushed through the midst of them trying to get to the bookies.
“What’s happened?” she cried. “What’s happened to the Iron Marshal?”
But the wall of people ignored her, pushing her out of the way forcefully. Bryce l...

I blasted through the frigid air with [Ride the Lightning], racing to reach the ground as quickly as possible. A thousand feet away, I spotted Rhe Su Long doing the same thing. She hit the ground a couple seconds faster than me, causing a torrent of snow to jettison into the air.
The next thing I knew a blade came shooting across my face.
I thought she had thrown something at me, but only when a second attack came, did I realize it was Rhe Su Long herself who had covered that huge...

Fia hiked the hem of her mummer’s robes as she raced through the densely packed streets of the Golden City. The trip down from the Pai Fang platform had taken much longer than expected, having to wait in line for nearly half an hour just to find a skiff that would ferry them to the surface.
Now little Bryce bounced on her back as she jogged quickly behind her father, Master Hei Dong, who was leading the charge. The Omni Gate connected to the planet Luxor was located in the heart of th...

Fia’s stomach fluttered with nerves as they entered the queue for the Omni Gate.
It towered overhead in the waning light of the afternoon sun, which brought on an anxiety of its own. Even though Kel Zhi had assured her several times that her axe would protect Bryce from the influence of the Bloodmoon, the thought that it would soon be rising added a new sense of urgency to getting to the front of the line and through the gate.
Her parents, Rhi Dong and Hei Dong were with her, bu...

I arrived on the deck of the corvette to a hero’s welcome, but there was more than just Captain Teng and his men there to welcome me. Vice Admiral Tau Lai was onboard as well, along with what had to be his entire officer’s cadre and two platoons of soldiers dressed in ceremonial robes to serve as an honor guard.
“Listen in, men!” the admiral shouted, and his troops braced at attention. “The company shall perform an Imperial Salute! A high honor reserved for royalty. Although i...

I didn’t know if this was Hun Wu 2.0, Hin Wu 3.0 or I’xol’ukz Prime, but in either case I was in for a serious fight now. Hun Wu’s body had just melded with the god of Dark Frenzy and the [Odds had to be Against me]. The thought spiked my Frenzy and I channeled it into my defensive techniques as I doubled gripped my Phalanx Glaive to go all out, monster hunting style.
The aura of Dark Frenzy emanating from her was enough to send my [Sacred Soul Shield] into overdrive, depleting ...

The gloom and decay only increased the further we got down river.
Eventually it ended in a waterfall that disappeared into pitch black darkness. We hovered over the edge of the falls and stared into the abyss below. I could sense even more Dark Frenzy and the effect caused my [Sacred Soul Shield] technique to kick it up a notch to protect my Flame. Still nowhere near Cursed Star level, but it was getting stronger.
I looked to Hun Wu. “Do you sense it?”
“Sense what?”<...

I wasted no time and charged straight into the fray, lightning and Frenzy flying.
“[Wrath of a Thousand Slain Souls]!”
My technique went off with a boom! that echoed the thunder in the sky. A hundred skeletons exploded in a chain reaction of detonations that sent bone flying like shrapnel. Behind me, Blue Rose took to the air and targeted one of the lumbering elephant skeletons with her daggers.
Most of them went flying straight through the thing, but a couple p...

I donned my robes and gear and made my way to the deck not knowing what the hell to really think. I suppose I shouldn’t have been surprised that a scholar like Zin Tai would have the mental fortitude to endure seeing a creature like that with ease, but the fact that he knew exactly what it was, told me he had done his fair bit of research into the unseen world as well.
It was a reminder that I was now the topic of that same research by him.
At least he was too chicken shit to co...

I crested the small rise to view the deepened valley below me.
It was the third day of the journey from the landing site and to finally see the fabled valley that I had longed so much for, was a deep relief within my soul. My core resonated with the place. It was for certain the site of ascension that I had foreseen.
Wu Chu had provisioned lightly so we traveled fast.
He perhaps was more assured of success than I was.
So confident was he that we would both be leaving t...

Fia clapped her hands excitedly as Bryce beamed a giggle filled smile at her while on all fours. Her mother, Rhi Dong, clapped with her, encouraging little Bryce to craw across the wooden floor of the dining room to them.
“Come on, Bryce!” Fia said, coaxing him with more hand claps. “You can do it. Come!”
He laughed and giggled instead, rocking back and forth like it was a joke.
“Why wont he crawl, auntie?” Su Ling asked, sounding worried. “My mama said I was c...

I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Lunalah was a terror on wheels.
And the thought of being actually married to her curdled my stomach.
If I did have to settle for that though, I wouldn’t be able to kill her right away either. That would look too suspicious. So what would that mean then? Staying married to her for months? Years?
To hell with that, I thought.
I could barely stand being in the carriage with her, much less having to live ou...

I added the last brushstroke of the technique and then leaned back to take in the ten foot long scroll I had just completely filled. I had spent the last three days bullshitting on this but now both Master Zin Tai and Patriarch Wing Lang were hovering over my shoulder and examining my work.
We were in the main library hall of the Fire Bird Sect, a multistory building filled with dusty old tomes and scrolls. It wasn’t much compared to the grand archives mind you, but it would put any a...

My dearest Elder Sister Rheutera,
I am certain you must have heard the rumors by now, for if I, being on a distant fringe world have heard the whispers, then you, being within the core worlds, must surely be hearing the same news proclaimed from the very rooftops.
But I write to confirm for you that those rumors are indeed true.

The stroll through the city with an entourage of fifty plus Fire Bird members was an interesting one. People gave us a wide birth and true to what Zin Tai had said, all manners of people were bowing to Patriarch Wing Lang like he was a prince or something.
I left my own entourage behind at the insistence of Wing Lang as well.
Where we were headed was clan business only, he’d warned.
Which made it all the more irritating for me, considering Zin Tai was granted an exception ...

This had to be some kind of freaking joke.
I glanced over at my companions and all of them had the same bemused expression of shock and incomprehension as I did. The Fire Birds were a persistent bunch, I’d give them that, but this guy in particular had an axe to grind.
Five months’ worth of axe grinding to be exact.

I stepped out of the Omni Gate and was hit with a blaring wall of vivid colors, sights and sounds. After being secluded in the Zen-like confines of Misato Village, entering the Golden city again was like being thrust through both space and time.
The towering buildings, and skiffs sweeping in between them, made for a dynamic backdrop to the ca...

So guys, in the last chapter I just realized i missed out on a great opportunity. I realize that the whole purpose was a time skip for Max and that's how i've been viewing it as an author.
But, in Max's world, he has had 5 years to sit and ponder stuff, which could include developing and refining new techniques. I normally don't like to do stuff like this off the page, but it makes logical sense that he might have developed a few new tricks.
How do you guys feel about this? I don'...

Sweat poured from my brow as I slammed the hammer atop the narrow strip of metal over and over again. The ring of the anvil became a constant rhythm as I focused on the thickness of the glowing steel, flattening the piece with each blow as I whittled it down to just the right size.
