Who should I play in a solo D&D adventure?
Added 2024-07-05 16:10:38 +0000 UTCHey friends! I'm working on a video for next week in which I play through a prewritten solo adventure. (This is different from my Aisling solo campaign — we're just gonna have a lot of solitaire content upcoming 😂)
Which of these characters would you like to see me play in a solo adventure? I'll probably use two! I'm only including options for the ones I have miniatures for, so I can use the minis in the game.

I'm a bit dumb but.... who's May Bell?

2024-07-24 21:39:19 +0000 UTC*spoiler warning for the video* I'm glad to see N'Krasha encountered the undead and then roll a NAT 1 on her first attack! Lol!

2024-07-11 04:47:16 +0000 UTCObviously Elliwyn didn't win... but if she did. This Rogue: Field Medic homebrew spec is really appropriate! It's got some solid content and fits well into the base game. I playtested it a bit and it plays pretty well. I personally disagree with the designer on Proficiency Bonus scaling, though that's up to the beholder. https://www.reddit.com/r/UnearthedArcana/comments/p0e0s4/rogue_field_medic_become_the_nonmagical_healer/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

2024-07-10 05:50:11 +0000 UTCI picked Edith because she hasn't been on an adventure yet. It's also sad you can't use a cleric of Sune for Baldur's Gate 3. That could have been a lot of fun.

2024-07-08 20:43:54 +0000 UTCAll of them. lol I vote Nymwen because I too am a necromancer in love with dead people. I think she could be interesting. Looks like Na'Krasha is winning, but I love her too!
Zosalot
2024-07-08 19:45:02 +0000 UTCI feel like Nymwen’s background of being from an academy, with the undead stuff would make for a great one shot/solo adventure! Dark academia, Harry-potter-esque sneaking around the school, fighting off trolls and such
Pip (Foxes and Ravens)
2024-07-08 14:16:50 +0000 UTCElliwyn is a little hard to do in 5e imo... Maybe grim surgeon rogue from griffon's saddlebag? If this was PF2, I'd vote for her in a heartbeat. (Also, a surgeon works much better in a party than solo)

2024-07-08 06:53:26 +0000 UTCI was hoping May Bell would get more votes.

2024-07-07 22:51:46 +0000 UTCWhy is there so little votes for Elllwyn? 😭
Loukas Paquette
2024-07-07 22:44:32 +0000 UTCHonestly they'd all have great solo adventures so you can't go wrong any way

2024-07-07 17:10:27 +0000 UTCThere is also the savant class from laserllama, with the medic subclass

2024-07-07 09:28:45 +0000 UTCI love Na'Krasha, but also think she gets a lot of screen time and am hoping to see some more supporting characters. :)
Richard Riley
2024-07-06 13:34:46 +0000 UTCNa'Krasha is my first choice! Then Elliwyn and Nymwen :)

2024-07-06 03:42:03 +0000 UTCThat makes sense! Well, regardless of how it turns out, you have my vote for more solo if that's something you want to do more of! I'm very excited to see how these videos turn out!! :D

2024-07-06 00:25:43 +0000 UTCI know whatever character you pick, you will create a wonderful event. You are truly an amazing Artist and I just enjoy all of your work.

2024-07-06 00:17:44 +0000 UTCI voted for Morelia because what could be more cosy from the outset than Morelia going on an quest for ingredients!

2024-07-05 23:45:54 +0000 UTCI went with Wisteria because it would be funny.

2024-07-05 22:51:01 +0000 UTCSo hard to choose... Na'krasha? Wisteria? Nymwen?

2024-07-05 22:50:45 +0000 UTCI’d love to see Augury do a solo adventure. She always seemed like the kind to not get her hands dirty, so I’d be interested to see how she handles herself without henchmen.
William Thorndike
2024-07-05 21:38:20 +0000 UTCI am a big fan of May Bell (she's my phone's lock screen) so I picked her. Would be great to see her in action!

2024-07-05 20:12:22 +0000 UTCimho, Penelope and Na'krasha are my favorites, but I enjoy watching all of them. you do awesome work.

2024-07-05 19:23:06 +0000 UTCWay of mercy monk could work as well

2024-07-05 19:23:00 +0000 UTCAlchemist? I was thinking Healer’s Feat with healers kit for an action 1d6+4+hit dice number, do you think that would work?

2024-07-05 19:20:42 +0000 UTCOh! Yes! You're absolutely right, that thought occurred to me while I was putting together my Artificer video and then immediately disappeared from my mind forever, haha. Good call!

2024-07-05 19:18:35 +0000 UTCOnly if I wanted nobody to be able to understand a word I'm saying 😂

2024-07-05 19:18:15 +0000 UTCHaving reviewed the instructions for the adventure, I think this is gonna be a one-player sitch, but I am actually really excited by the idea of playing a whole party of my NPCs off of each other in a more "solo adventurer's toolbox" set-up! I suppose we'll see how this video and the Aisling campaign video do, and if there's continued demand for solo play, maybe I'll get to try it out!
Ginny Di
2024-07-05 19:17:53 +0000 UTCElliwyn could also be an artificer (that's the doctor, right?)
Khadorek
2024-07-05 19:06:19 +0000 UTCI for one am excited to hear a whole adventure with the N'Krasha voice! The real question is, will player Ginny be wearing the tusks?
Bryon Kershaw
2024-07-05 18:49:19 +0000 UTCI'm personally for Edith because I love her personality and the concept behind her character, and I'd love to see her get an actual adventure, but I understand people wanting to focus more on Na'Krasha. I'm excited for the solo adventure either way because these are all fun characters, and I enjoy seeing how people approach solo play in general! I started out with the solo adventurer's toolbox because of Ginny Di's recommendation, so I'm very curious to see how this will turn out in practice!

2024-07-05 18:39:57 +0000 UTCSo now you got me thinkin' :-) Augury probably has jobs that are important enough to her that she feels the need to go along and supervise the operation, just because she doesn't really trust anyone. She hires Na'Krasha as a body guard/muscle. And, unfortunately, they need Wisteria's knack for picking up spells on the fly. Augury spends much of the adventure glaring icy daggers at the annoying gnome, until finally, in a matter-of-fact tone, she tells her, "I want you to know that when all of this is over, I'm going to have Na'Krasha kill you." Wisteria looks at Na'Krasha with wide eyes: "You wouldn't *really* kill me. Would you, Na'Krasha?" Na'Krasha shrugs. "A job is a job. And she's right: you are very annoying."
Jonathan & Megan Pierson
2024-07-05 18:23:00 +0000 UTCVoted Nymwen, because her secrets and schemes intrigue me!
NathalieBoelens
2024-07-05 18:21:57 +0000 UTCI totally put Penelope, but since she wasn’t a top contender, I put Nakrasha, because I am more familiar with her than Wisteria, but I would be up for seeing either of them.
Nathanial
2024-07-05 18:13:02 +0000 UTCI voted for Nymwen. In general, the idea of a knowledge cleric / necromancer multiclass seems like the most self-complete character option on the list.
Clay
2024-07-05 17:42:18 +0000 UTCI feel like Na'Krasha would have the most survivability running solo. Although ideally, she would be paired up with some flavor of spellcaster, for those rare occasions when brute force isn't the answer. ;-)
J. Kevin Carrier
2024-07-05 17:26:35 +0000 UTCFollow your heart, Ginny. Always. Unless your heart tells you to put Josh's underwear on your head and run down the street at 3 AM screaming, "I AM the Lizard Queen!" That could raise questions. Though I suppose it wouldn't raise any more than that time you spent the afternoon lurking in the bushes at the park dressed as a giant rabbit. Yeah, you know what, you're good: follow your heart wherever it leads.
Jonathan & Megan Pierson
2024-07-05 17:22:45 +0000 UTCit really depends on what the adventure is. My fav or your characters is Nymwen but i voted Wisteria as if things are lighter, her...mistakes could lead to a humorous chaosgasm

2024-07-05 17:18:26 +0000 UTCHard to choose just one!

2024-07-05 17:13:20 +0000 UTCI'd love to see more of Wisteria! Especially with a fierce mama-bear half-orc bodyguard watching over her. I'll bet Na'Krasha could throw Wisteria over her shoulder and carry her to safety. Should the need arise.
Jonathan Blanton
2024-07-05 17:09:36 +0000 UTCSolid idea.
Geoff Gilbert
2024-07-05 16:57:12 +0000 UTCAnd for pure chaos, I just want the generator to throw a ghost in there.
Geoff Gilbert
2024-07-05 16:56:35 +0000 UTCYES! Love the way voting is looking right now. Na'Krasha is my favorite character and I refuse to evaluate why!
Geoff Gilbert
2024-07-05 16:55:27 +0000 UTCI think for a single adventure, I can come up with a reason that pretty much anybody would be out in the world! Even homebodies like Augury and Edith, haha. But it's definitely easier to explain a character like Na'Krasha!
Ginny Di
2024-07-05 16:54:41 +0000 UTCAugury's an interesting option. It's hard for me to imagine her on an adventure. I always picture her as more of the mastermind type, behind the scenes, pulling the strings, hiring other people to do the dirty, dirty work of adventuring. Ooo. Playing Augury in a city-based criminal intrigue adventure. Looks like Augury's not getting much love in the poll though. Oh well. As in the fantasy world, so in the real world, I suppose. It's fine. Augury neither wants, nor needs, love. Edit: Looks like I spoke too soon. Augury is now neck-and-neck with Nymwen, and they're closing on Wisteria. Sooo hoping we get to see you roleplaying Augury and Wisteria off of each other :-D.
Jonathan & Megan Pierson
2024-07-05 16:53:13 +0000 UTCMorelia because druids don't get enough love, but Na'Krasha will crush it because apparently women who can crush you are in this season ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

2024-07-05 16:34:09 +0000 UTCRegardless, I think whoever doesn’t get the majority vote could at least get cameos. 🤔

2024-07-05 16:33:31 +0000 UTCGood to know and thank you. I'll probably purchase the Obvious Mimic publications and get a sense of thier vibe.

2024-07-05 16:31:33 +0000 UTCThat's valid. Still include a rogue tho. :-)

2024-07-05 16:30:32 +0000 UTCI'm gonna be real with you, I LOVE spellcasters and it sounds less fun to me to have no magic in the group!!
Ginny Di
2024-07-05 16:28:23 +0000 UTCThis video will feature a publisher called Obvious Mimic who has two solo adventures out and a third on the way in August! There are also tons of games that are specifically designed to be solo play RPGs if you aren't married to playing D&D — there's a fantastic video from Dicebreaker recommending 15 of their favs!
Ginny Di
2024-07-05 16:27:44 +0000 UTCI see Na'Krasha, I vote Na'Krasha.

2024-07-05 16:26:15 +0000 UTCThere are no wrong answers but Na'Krasha has big "you'll never believe what happened to me today" energy. Also, I've been solo-curious so I'll be revisiting the video on the topic. Anyone have any new suggestions to add since that video came out?
Max Brannan
2024-07-05 16:22:53 +0000 UTCMore Na'Krasha content is always welcome
