Clio the Bard

Until today, the only images I had of Clio the bard were selfies and portraits β€” so when I shot my "5 straight minutes of vicious mockery" video (coming next week!) I made sure to make time for some posed portraits and full-body images.

The full-body shots required quite a bit of background editing, and I'm still not sure if I prefer the one where I replaced my studio wall with a teal backdrop and replaced the carpet with wood, or the one where I kept the studio wall, but replaced the floor and molding with stone. What do you think?

Lol. Sorry. Didn't mean to sound like I was ragging on your flowers. They just got me thinking, "Wedding in a dungeon," which then led through an obvious chain of thought to Clio viciously mocking the bride and groom, which I find frickin' hillarious. It was a moment of Ginspiration, which is always a good thing :-).

Hey now, the flowers on stone are my actual, every-week backdrop πŸ˜… no need to make them seem QUITE so stupid…

Ginny Di

I'm impressed by the work on the wood floor, because it fooled me. The moulding-to-stone as well. Aesthetically, I cannot choose, because a bard performs wherever the audience is.

She looks fantastic! I love the lion-style tail instead of the typical spade. Not the question you asked I know, but I think stone wall and wood floor could look very tavern-y.

Marcus Beirne

I like the stone wall... but would prefer the wood floor. Very helpful, I know

Pink is such an underrated colour for tieflings.

I think the skirt gets lost in the stone background, which is a real shame since the spade(?) cut is so cool. Also, the stocking arms look amazing.

Backgrounds don't matter when it's CLIO!!!! πŸ’•πŸ‘πŸ’•πŸ‘πŸ’•πŸ‘

Good upcycling of the clutch/purse! The costume is great but your expressions really sell it!

George I Lemke

Definitely the stone version. More DND :)

First: I love the freckles. Wonderful touch, and they stand out perfectly. I like the stone background better. I think just because it's more immersive. The stone background feels like part of the costume, like I'm actually looking at Clio the Tiefling Bard. The teal and teal/wood floor feel like ... well, like a home studio, and I'm looking at Ginny in her Clio the Bard costume. (Not that there's anything wrong with that :-) So I guess my question would be: Are you looking for shots that focus the viewer on you and your cosplaying skills (teal background), or are you looking for shots that immerse the viewer in the setting/character (stone)? The flowery lace at the top of the stone wall seems a little off though. Like Clio is at a wedding in a dungeon. Maybe Clio was hired to perform music at a wedding in a dungeon, but she misunderstood and thought it was a roast, and so she spends 5 straight minutes viciously mocking the bride and groom. (Of course the big question is: Who the heck gets married in a dungeon?)

I don't like the wooden floor pic, it makes everything else look so empty. like she's just moved house

Graves

I favor the floor and molding being replaced with stone. It just seems an appropriate venue for Clio. Very well done.

Bryce Carlson

I'm an outlier so far, I like the wood floor. :)

Richard Riley

Awesome photos of Clio, love her outfit

Ramona Wanders

I love the stone floor and wall gives me more of a vibe of Clio performing at the tavern. She looks amazing by the way loved the bardic inspiration

The teal works well as a stylish neutral, works extra well for Clio because of the vibrancy of the pink in contrast. The stone effect one does look like a good action shot with more of a context, so it depends if you're trying to just highlight the character and outfit design, or to put them in a tableau.

fishbananas .

I like the teal background without the floor or backdrop. It makes the green of your outfit and your face pop, especially the headshots.

James Selvy

I think I prefer the studio wall. Clio is awesome, btw. :)
