Arcane S01 E06 'When These Walls Come Tumbling Down' Reaction

My fellow Patreon dweebs,

I mention at the end of this video that my YouTube ad money for this reaction will be donated to a local nonprofit. After doing my own research, I’ve chosen the Dallas 24 Hour Club, which is a homelessness and addiction recovery center in the city where I live. I’ve wanted to do a fundraiser on the channel for a while now and felt particularly inspired to do so after this episode.

You can learn more about the Dallas 24 Hour Club here: https://www.dallas24hourclub.org/

Let me know your thoughts on this one in the comments down below <3

Oooooh interesting to hear from someone who agreed with Jayce’s decision to vote Heimerdinger out. I agree with you that the council has failed miserably in many ways. And I think Heimerdinger could stand to update his views given new information, even if he’s tentative about these advances due to past experiences. But I almost feel like the entire council needs a clean slate if any real change is going to take place. So many of them are so deep in corruption at this point… as are most politicians I suppose… that I think everyone’s just looking out for their best interests instead of the interests of the people. And you know, I thought that line of Viktor’s was interesting but couldn’t quite pin why it stood out to me so much. That’s a very astute assessment of his character. OMG WAIT!!! THE BLUE CLOUDS!!! I never realized!!! Oh god my heart 😭 Thank you for sharing that, even if it did make me tear up a bit lol! I haven’t been able to figure out the significance behind Violet’s gear tattoos? Have you heard/read anything on that?

I can see why 😍 It’s absolutely incredible on so many different levels. This show continues to floor me every week. I never want it to end lol!

I really felt like it was a turning point too! She’s not quite as vulnerable with him as he is with her, but I think that’s just their personalities. She really did open up to him this episode about her past… I wasn’t expecting it, but it was nice to see! I love how nuanced every relationship in this show is.

Regarding Hameidinger being voted out, Jayce arguments are right. We can assume that Haimerdinger was council member since city beginning. And while multiple cuses mighth have contributed to the current political situation between Piltower and Undercity, ultimately it is failure of leadership to allow situation deteriorate to what we see, to allow members on one socioeconomic organism that is a city to see themselves as separate entities. It took decades of neglect, or at least if situation was that bad from the very beginning, decades of missed opportunities to improve things. And Haimerdinger was in a top leadership position all those decades. As for Victor, that admission "I understand now" is that he is willing to break tabus in name of progress. And we have seen glimpse of that radicalism at the beginning, when he said to Jayce "When you plan to change the world, do not ask for permission". Think for a moment what that means in practice for example in real world bio and medical research, how many "permissions" you have to get including from ethics committees, for certain types of experiments, like the ones that use lab animals. Victor is willing to disregard that. He is a radical. And lastly, through I cannot claim that as my own observations, it was pointed to me, have you noticed that Jinx tatoos are of blue smoke clouds, jus as from the flare that Vi gave her and that she kept all those years? Jinx was calling her sister all those years, every day, all the time.

This episode is definitely in my top 3 eps of the season I've rewatched it so many times.

The scene between Jayce and Mel ("Why did you come to me with this?") feels like a turning point for them. Mel has not been subtle about seeing Jayce as an investment rather than a partner. But here, he is leaning on her and taking the first steps for an emotional connection. He depends on her not just for material value, but because of how being with her makes him feel. He gives her that validation, and in turn she opens up to him. I appreciate how her expressions in the scene so strongly read of hesitance - maybe because she never considered Jayce in this light, or maybe because she's just so unfamiliar to this kind of emotional connection
