Stop Knowing, Start Doing (Experiential vs Informational Knowledge)

Thanks! I take action every single day.

Thanks Devin; the way I liken this content that you are providing is being "book smart" vs "street smart". I know with me my strength is being book smart, I have a great ability to learn and remember facts, figures and information but when it comes time to actually apply them and put it into practice I completely falter due to fear of failure or fear of rejection. I have a running joke with myself that if I had a double of me who was more practical we would be a killer duo. I am the ideas/creative/knowledge guy, I just need to find my Practical "street smart"/ Doing partner... haha

I hope this doesn't come off as awkward, but I wanted to begin this comment with an acknowledgement that I'm aware that I have participated in the comment conversations for a significant portion of these awesome Patreon informational videos, and that isn't necessarily something that results in an improved level of esteem and regard in the minds of one's fellow community members. I weigh in with the intention of adding something further to the existing conversation and try be brief if only offering thanks and support for the information presented. That insecurity taken care of, I did have some thoughts on the shortcomings of informational knowledge as people typically consume it. Even in the case of the most genuinely dedicated consumers of the knowledge, the process seems to conclude before taking one final step that is required to vastly enhance the value provided by the information acquired and memorized. I find it necessary after receiving and verifying my understanding of the offered knowledge, that I then need to mentally start applying it to actual or hypothesized scenarios. How would using this information look specifically when applied to XYZ situation that i'm working on right now? Also I try to think back and mentally apply it to situations from the past, and do a little mental retcon, to theorize how applying this knowledge back in those historical circumstance, might have altered the resulting outcomes. I think without this active analysis and theoretical application of the absorbed knowledge, much of the potential impact fails to be realized. Just diligently receiving, memorizing, and storing away the knowledge, then proceeding onto the next piece of knowledge to be acquired, does not yield the same results.

Thank you Devin. Even as I fight back against this impulse, I'm guilty of this, especially lately.

Was literally writing a comment about discussion based communities being prone to the tier 2 stuff and then got to 8:26 and you covered it as well :) Awesome video as always Devin.

Gold.

Oof, I definitely fell into that tier two trap. This was a really great wake up call.

Just do it!
