Same as it Ever Was Cancellation and National Park Girls Delays

Well beautiful friends, I’m afraid we have to announce some unfortunate news today. Buckle in.

Due to health issues, Shiyun has stepped down as the artist for Same as it Ever Was. Because of this, and several other factors, we’ve gone ahead and made the difficult decision to cancel the project. We apologize to anyone who was looking forward to SaiEW. For those of you who have supported the project since its announcement at Anime Fest in 2017, we can’t thank you enough. Although this was a tough call to make, we feel it’s in the best interest of the studio moving forward.

All of us at Studio Coattails would like to extend Shiyun our best wishes. She’s been a pleasure to work with through the years, and we hope that we can work with her again in the future.

Moving forward, you can expect to see Henry continuing to serve as our faithful mascot. Furthermore (and on a brighter note), you can expect us to double our efforts to make National Park Girls the best it can be!

Now, speaking of NPG...

Originally we had planned to release Episode 2 in June to correlate with our plans of an episode release every three months. We always knew this would be an incredibly tight production schedule, but still, we felt it was feasible. And for the most part, it has been! Unfortunately, we’ve encountered a small art delay. It’s nothing too major, but Satchely has been absolutely swamped with school work. As a result, we’re pushing back the Episode 2 release to the end of the Summer. For some of us, VNs are our full time job. For others, it’s not. This is fine, and it’s all just part of the development process. Rest assured though, the rest of NPG’s development is coming along well and the project as a whole is looking healthy! Please keep a look out for a special “next episode preview” coming in the very near future!

For all of those who support us and continue to do so, thank you once again! I’m confident that the future of Studio Coattails is a bright one. The niche nature of VNs can sometimes lead to these types of incidents occurring, but believe me when I say that this is just one pothole on a much longer road trip…
