Fast switch tabs + Clone chat fix + Dark mode
Added 2025-09-21 12:09:47 +0000 UTCGot a lot of complaints about user experience, especially by mobile users about how separate window/tab is so hard to navigate.
You can open the tools the same way, from the chatbots using the draggable icon on top right, the panel button. This no longer creates a new tools window if it already exists, instead it switches to it.
And now the tools has a "Go back" button which takes you back to your chatbot instantly.
You no longer need to open the tabs menu and pick your extension or chatbot tab. Hopefully this fixes the user experience problem.
Cloning fix
Chat import and cloning on character.ai sometimes freezes at random messages indefinitely. I hope I fixed this because I found several edge case scenarios that can happen and fixed it all. Let me know if it persists in latest version.
Dark mode (upcoming)
Extension is currently designed in light mode. This is painful for a lot of you. I will start working on this.
As you can imagine, I can be clueless, do always let me know what you have in mind so we can work things out.

When you press the panel button from the icon, it opens the existing panel. Then you can press go back from there. If it opens a new one, you are likely on Firefox and haven't updated yet. I try to push people to the website in separate window so I can make everything free with non-intrusive ads in there (Pro membership). Then I can make it popup like before but no membership reward. It comes off as greedy when I say it but it's win win and there is nothing to lose if you don't want it. Why not now? I need traffic to get approved by quality service (Mediavine), I reject malware selling ad networks.

Currently, Chatbot Manager opens up as a separate browser window, while CAI Tools was...more like a popup, I guess? I often find myself forgetting that I have opened Chatbot Manager already and at some point I see that I have 10 windows open, because I keep opening the panel thanks to being used to how CAI Tools worked. π

I found a second, or rather the real reason of chat import pausing, I just fixed it, I will release it soon. Perhaps Kiwi is doing that because of this. I believe I fixed the incorrect swipe issue. Not during the message creation, but if you wait for chat cloning to validate the swipes, it will swipe them in bulk. Don't close until it does that. The unexpected response could be their "safety" responses. It can deal with explicit messages fine, but it should still be able to skip it and not fail with these unexpected responses. If it does that, we are good. At some point I could check all those unexpected responses and edit them to bypass the restrictions. Thank you for letting me know, during development, it's damn near impossible to debug addons on mobile Firefox. So I can only check after it's released. I figured it would be working if it's working for even Kiwi but apparently I was wrong. I will add Save button position at a later date. I could maybe update it to be a very tiny, draggable, sticky button so it would stick to the edges of the screen. Optional of course. And thank you, really.

2025-09-23 15:37:36 +0000 UTCCan confirm that both CBM's memory manager and the quick access for cAI's memory box are working by asking the bot to read them to me! (Cannot confirm whether cAI iself will pay attention to them any other time. π ) The sorting of downloaded history by last interaction date is also working! In Kiwi, chat import hangs/fails if I switch to another app while the import is in process, even if the windows don't reload after I switch back. I tested it in Firefox after that to see if it did the same there, but Firefox seems able to complete it successfully. Lately I've mostly been doing test imports on throwaway bots to see if cAI's fixed the issue with displaying the incorrect swipe (they have not π - for anyone else having that problem, a quick way to check if a chat imported correctly or not without having to read the entire thing is to turn off "hide edited indicators" and scroll through looking for just those on the bot's posts - they should all show as being edited, so any that aren't are on the wrong swipe. It's a flaw in cAI's system, not the extension). That said, I HAVE actually gotten an error message on a couple of the imports that wrong-swipe-failed, which is "generate_message: Message is generated but received error: No error but received unexpected response." Oddly it only happens with a specific chat - none of the others produce error messages - but it happens every time with that one. The panel button opening to an existing extension window works in Kiwi but not Firefox - Firefox is still opening a new instance every time. (Kiwi is what I actually use with cAI, but I pulled Firefox up for thorough testing!) Is it possible to have a "save button position" like there was with old CAI tools? On mobile it's right over cAI's character menu and I have to drag it back over every time I reload. (I keep asking for minor stuff, I'm sorry! π )

2025-09-23 14:04:35 +0000 UTCV2 was way too overengineered. It had to clean it because every new message would have the memory, and others would need to be edited out. It had its own issues. Instead I recommend writing down the things like history with 15-20 frequency setting. And you could use the memory box for short term memory like a person's appearance, the scenario and whatnot because it has 400 character limit.

I have a question with the memory: do you plan to have an option where it "automatically cleanses the message"? Like the other version? It would be nice to have it but I guess you might have other plans.
